Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University was established in the year 1998 as a state uni-

versity by the Government of Delhi. The university from very outset focussed on professional

studies both at the undergraduate level and postgraduate level with a view to tap and direct

the enormous talent pool in the country. The university visualizes its role as a catalyst for

developing the technical skills of its students with the view to meet the needs of the industry.

In order to meet these goals the university has established schools in various disciplines like

Information Technology, Management, Chemical Technology, Law and Biotechnology. All schools

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University is the embodiment of a vision to form an institution, filled with

The School of Information Technology was established to design and implement courses with the twin

objectives of generating competent professionals and to keeping pace with the R&D activities of this dy-

M.Tech (Computer Science) Program and M.Tech (Information Technology) Weekend Program. The launch

Proposed Model for USIT

School’s Philosohpy

University School of Information Technology has been established to design and implement

courses with the aim of imparting qualitative education. The School also emphasizes the need

to keep up with the latest developments in the field by constantly upgrading the syllabus. The

School believes in close coordination with industry on a perpetual basis, which keeps it abreast

with the ever changing scenario of the IT industry.

School’s Pedagogy

The School aims at inculcating essential skills as are demanded by the global software industry,

through an interactive learning process. This includes supplementing conventional technical

education with team skills, audio visual presentation and personality development programmes.

Admission ProcedureThe students are admitted through a National Level Entrance Examination for each course.

The examination for MCA tests for mathematical logical and analytical sills of the students and

the M.Tech. examination tests for Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics. The USIT has been the

choice of top rankers in these examinations.

Industry Recognition and Collaboration

The School of Information Technology at GGS Indraprastha University has signed a Memorandum

of Understanding with following organizations.

- CISCO Systems Inc. - The University School of Information Technology as been granted the

status of CISCO Regional Networking Academy for North India.

The courses at GGS Indraprastha University have been modified accordingly, preparing the stu

dents for CISCO certification.

- IBM India Ltd. - The company provides the faculty training in IBM Softwares like DB2, Visual Age

for JAVA, Web Sphere Application Server etc., from time to time.

- Intel Corporation - Intel has donated equipments based on network processors.Intel may

establish dedicated lab very soon.

- Future Alliance - The School of Information Technology is in the process of having academic

alliance with Microsoft Corp. and as a part of that research labs are going to be established.

The School also organized an International Conference on Geomatics from 06th November to 08th

November 2003 jointly with Indian Society of Geomatics, The Department of Space and National

Informatics Center, Govt. of India.

INFRASTRUCTURE

The USIT boasts of a vast array of labs and technological facilities, which provide the student

with all the necessary tools and means to acquire mastery in various fields they pursue. The

campus has more than 200 Pentium machines. This number is currently being upgraded to 550

nodes.

The students have at their disposal:

1. Computer Centre

It is the central lab of the School. It is equipped with three distinct domains in order to

cater to the needs of not only the students but also the faculty. It comprises of two

student domains of 25 nodes each and a separate faculty lab of 10 nodes. This lab has

two servers Netfinity 5000 & X200 of IBM. Netfinity 5000 server acts as an IBM DB@

server whereas X200 acts as an Oracle 8i server.

This center is also equipped with a networked high-speed line printer and an A3 size

laser printer for the relevant need of documentation. A Sun Ultra 60 Machine has been

added for high speed computing needs.

2. Networking Lab

Networking Lab has been developed in collaboration with CISCO. This lab is equipped

with 20 nodes, 5 routers, 2 switches and hubs. This lab is devoted to router and other

network based programming. The Networking lab also has LAN Trainer Kit to simulate

implementation of network. This lab also servers the purpose of enabling students to

obtain CISCO certification.

3. Software Engineering Lab

This lab was setup to provide practical exposure to software engineering activities.

The lab uses Rational Suite enterprise to conduct design practical, a 10-license pack

of Rational Suite being available for this purpose. Rational ClearCase LT Client, Ra-

tional ClearQuest, Rational Pure Coverage, Rational Purity, Rational Quantify, Ratio-

nal Requisite Pro, Rational Rose Enterprise Edition are available in the lab.

4. Signal Processing Lab

The Lab has been setup to provide the students with facilities for Advanced Digital

Signal Processing. The lab has 20 nodes, which are networked by LAN, and has two

servers from IBM, xSeries235. Lab has acquired Digital Signal Trainer Kits and DSP

Starter Kits from Texas Instruments with TMS 320C6000 DS Processor. MATLAB soft-

ware has been provided with various toolboxes for the purpose of design. The main

aim of this infrastructure is for design and implementation of Digital Filters.

5. Web Development Lab

The Lab was setup with the aim of integrating the creative and technical skills of

the students. The lab is fully equipped with the requisite animation and graphic

development tools needed to enhance web interactivity and aesthetics. This lab

has in excess of 25 nodes, one IBM Netfinity 5000 Server, CD Writers & Scanners to

facilitate the above mentioned tasks.

6. Multimedia Lab

It is a sophisticated lab with two user areas. This lab contains 12 high end SGI 330

workstations. It is also equipped with scanners, digital cameras etc. This lab has

been setup to train the students in multimedia applications like advertising, 2D and

3D animations, VR etc. This lab is equipped with advanced software like MAYA 4,

ANIMO & Combustion.

7. Microprocessor Lab

The lab is devoted to study of microprocessors. The l;ab as 10 nodes used for asm program-

ming and interfacing experiments. The lab is equipped with 8086 microprocessor-training

kits, 8051 microcontroller kit, bus extension units, Multifunction PCI interface cards and vari-

ous study modules like 8251, 8253, 8255, 8257. In addition to this EPROM programmers are

also available to the students.

8. VLSI Lab

This Lab has 10 nodes providing excellent facilities for VHDL programming. Software includes

XILINIX 4.1i, Alteras MAX+10.1, Alteras Quartus II ver 1.1, ORCAD Tools, design bundles for

CADENCE VHDL Compiler. The Lab has four FPGA programmers. VLSI Lab provides simulators

such as ModelSim XE/Starter 5.5b, T-Spice & ModelSim-Altera 5.5b. Facilities of Synthesis tools

are also available through Leonardo Spectrum for Altera.

9. Electronics Lab

This Lab is meant for experiments in Computer Architecture, Switching Theory and Logic De-

sign Electronic Devices & Circuits, Communication Systems and Digital Communication. The

lab is fully equipped with CROs, Bread Boards, relevant ICs and different Trainer kits which

include Antenna trainer Kit, Digital signal trainer kit among others.

10. Communication Lab

This Lab is meant for experiments in Analog, Digital, Data, Cellular & Mobile and CDMA Com-

munication. The lab boasts of Communication Simulator, Radio Lab for Cellular Services and

LAN Trainers. It is equipped with 20 nodes and a number of communication equipments,

which include satellite transmission system, spectrum analyzer, microwave test bencher, Mul-

tifunction analog oscilloscope(100MHz) and Fiber Optical Transmission System.

Internet Access

In the present scenario, the Internet is vital to learning as it is a wide information resource for

nearly every topic under the sun. The University has a FIBER OPTIC backbone and currently has

200 Mbps Internet Access.

Intranet

The university has an intranet which interconnects the various administrative departments and

the academic section of the University. The LAN also connects the Library to other departments.

Various applications like Intranet Website, Online Examination System, File Monitoring System,

Casual Leave Handler, Tax Calculating System, Location Information System, Complaint Lodging

System, Lost & Found System, indigenously developed by students of the school are imple-

mented through LAN to facilitate automation of office procedures. This Intranet is operational

24 hours and is accessible from both inside & outside the campus. Moreover, the security is

handled by a firewall which runs on a Red Hat 7.0 based IBM X200 server. The University website

is also hosted in-house on IBM 7100 server and is mirrored on a server of same configuration.

UIRC

The University Information Resource Centre (UIRC) is a fully computerized library which supple-

ments the educational and knowledge needs of the students, researchers and its faculty mem-

bers. UIRC has been consistently building up itself from strength to fulfill its objectives by incor-

porating the latest technology and talent in providing most cost-effective and time-efficient

information services to its members. It has over 15000 scientific technical, basic, classic and

reference books, 500 CD/AVC providing information through multimedia and subscribes to over

250 periodicals on current topics of research and interests. Apart from a regular section, the

center has a book bank section from which books are issued for an entire semester. An ambi-

tious proposal of making this center a part of the University’s website will help its members and

international academic community to assess the information on the library holdings online. The

fully air conditioned resource center also has Xerox facilities and document delivery services.

The center at present serves about 1000 members, with a plan of doubling its reading room

capacity in the near future.

BEYOND CLASSROOM

InfoXpression

The annual national level students technical festival is the event of the year of the School of Informa-

tion Technology. Organized by Students Association of Information Technology (SAInT), InfoXpression

has been a major success drawing participation from students allover India from institutions includ-

ing the IITs and the RECs. This year approximately 1000 students participated. Being a technical

festival, the focus of the event is on latest developments in the field of Information Technology.

Guest lectures and seminars conducted by eminent personalities is one of the events to look for-

ward to at the festival. Contests such as the Technical Paper presentations and Day and Overnight

programming competitions keep the spirit of competition alive in the participants in the three day

event. Other competitions include the Hardware Design Contest, Website Design Contest, the Linux

Challenge and the Software Project Presentation. InfoXpression has established itself as the event

for the IT enthusiasts. Organizational and managerial skills of the students are put to test in and the

students have been upto the task, as it has been evident from the overwhelming success of the

festival.

SAInT

SAInT is the students’ body of the School of Information Technology. It provides the

students with a platform for developing team spirit apart from organizational and mana-

gerial skills. SAInT enables them to bring their talent to the fore through various extra-

curricular activities and competitions both at intra and inter university level. In fact, the

students have been actively participating, with remarkable success, at events such as

Day Programming, Overnight Programming at festivals organised at IIT-Delhi, DCE, NSIT

among others. SAInT periodically organizes seminars, conferences, workshops and guest

lectures promoting wider learning amongst the students. Also Quizzes, Debates and

Programming Competitions are organized from time to time to enthuse the students

with a competetive spirit the right direction. SAInT also brings out a periodic newsletter

‘SAInTSpeaks’, containing articles and writeups of both technical and non-technical na-

ture. The association has been successfully organizing InfoXpression, a national level

students IT festival, for the past 3 years. Each year the festival has met with a more

resounding success than the previous editions, the last edition drawing participation

from as many as 1000 students from all over India.

Prof. Yogesh Singh (Dean)

Prof. K. K. Aggarwal (Vice Chancellor)Prof. K. K. Aggarwal, Vice-Chancellor of the University, graduated in Electronics and Communication Engineering

from Punjab University and obtained his Masters Degree in advanced electronics from Kurukshetra University, secur-

ing first position in both. Later, he did his Ph.D. in Reliability, Evaluation and Optimization from Kurukshetra Univer-

sity. In 1975 he rose to the level of Professor at an age of 27.5 Years. He has been Chairman, Department of

Electronics, Communication and Computer Engineering and Dean (Academics) at Regional Engineering College,

Kurukshetra University. He was also Director, “Center for Excellence for Manpower Development in Reliability Engi-

neering” established by Ministry of Human Resource Development at that college. Before taking up the present

assignment, he was Pro Vice-Chancellor, Guru Jambheshwar University, Hissar. Prof. K. K. Aggarwal has extensively

worked in Electronics and Communication Engineering and has published about 200 papers, a majority of them in

International journals. He has also authored books and articles, many of them for IEEE, USA.

He has delivered lectures for several universities in India and abroad. Among them are the University of Berkley,

U.S.A; University of Cincinatti, U.S.A; Florida State University, U.S.A; University of Birmingham, U.K; Technical

University of Germany, etc. and industrial organizations. He has conducted programs for many industrial houses like

Tata Consultancy Services, BHEL, TVS Electronics, DCM Data Systems, Central mechanical Engineering research

Institute, Electronics Corporation of India, BEL, ISRO, Defense Research Labs etc. He has been widely consulted by

the industry, most notable being his contribution towards the Reliability Analysis for PSLV (Polar Satellite Launch

Vehicle). He delivered a talk on Reliable Automobiles Electronics in Ford Motors, Detroit, USA and has also conducted

a full day program for Information Management Resources, Florida, USA. Prof. Aggarwal was honored by the Reli-

ability Society of IEEE, USA for his services as Guest Editor for the special issue on “ State of Reliability Effort of the

Indian Sub-Continent”. He was declared as the Man of Decade & Man of the Century by American Bibliographical

Institute, USA and was conferred L. C. Verman award by the Institute of Electronics and Tele-Communication Engi-

neers (IETCE). He was also awarded the Life Time Achievement Medal by the India International Friendship Society.

Dr. Yogesh Singh is a Professor & the Dean of School of Information Technology and also the Dean of

School of Engineering & Technology, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Kashmere Gate, Delhi. He received

his M.Tech. and Ph.D. (Computer Engineering) degrees from National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra (previ-

ously known as Regional Engineering College, Kurukshetra). Prior to this, he was Founder Chairman, Department of

Computer Science & Engineering, Guru Jambheshwar University, Hisar, Haryana. His area of research is Software

Engineering focusing on Planning, Testing, Metrics and Neural Networks. Though he has also actively worked in the

area of fuzzy systems. He has more than 100 publications in International / National Journals and Conferences. HE

is a referee for various journals of International and National repute in the area if Information Technology and allied

fields. He is a co-author of a book on “Software Engineering”. He was the Principal Investigator of the successfully

implemented MHRD-AICTE Project entitled “Experimentation & Development of Software Reliability & Complexity

Measurement Techniques”. He is a member of IT-Task force and a member of its Core-group on E-Education, Govt.

of NCT of Delhi. He is a Member of Review Committee for Direct Central Assistance Schemes Project, Ministry of

Human Resources Development, Govt. of India and Member of various committees constituted by AICTE and UGC.

He has visited the University of Portland and University of California, San Diego, USA in July and Aug 2003 to explore

the possibility of an academic/ research alliance. He is Fellow of IETE (F158608) and Member of IEEE (41481854).

Prof. Nupur Prakash (Professor)

Prof. Nupur Prakash is working as professor in the school of information technology, GGS IndraprasthaUniversity. She received her B.E. (Electronics & Communication Engineering) and M.E. (Computer science&Technology) from UOR, Roorkee in 1981 and 1986 respectively. She has worked as a scientist in CSIO,Chandigarh (1983-1985) on microprocessor based projects, later on she joined the computer engineeringdepartment of SGS institute of technology & science, Indore as lecturer 1986 to 1989. She completed herPhD. (Engineering &Technology) from Punjab University, Chandigarh in 1998 in the area of neural networksand natural language processing. Before joining GGS Indraprastha University, she has been serving thedepartment of computer science and engineering at Punjab engineering college, Chandigarh as head andassistant professor (1991 to 2000). Her major areas of interests are computer graphics, computer commu-nication networks, operating systems, system programming and Natural language processing using artificialneural networks. She has published 18 papers in various national and international level conference pro-

Dr. B.V. Ramana Reddy

Dr. B V Ramana Reddy is a Reader with the School of Information Technology, Guru Gobind Singh IndraprasthaUniversity, Delhi. Earlier he served as Assistant Professor in ECE Department of REC Hamirpur (HP) during1995-99. He started his career as lecturer at SRKR Engineering College, Bhimavaram (AP) and subse-quently served at REC Kurukshetra for about eight years. He received his M.Tech. from University of Roorkee,Roorkee (UP) and Ph.D. (ECE) from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra (Haryana). He has published re-search papers in the area of Electronics and Communication Engineering primarily in the area of Microwavepower combiners and mobile communication. He is member of various professional bodies like ISTE, IE,SEMCE (India) and IETE. His teaching and research interests include: semiconductor devices and circuitsparticularly using microwave and optical devices, microwave and optical communications and computercommunication networks and mobile computing.

Dr. Navin Rajpal is a Reader with the School of Information Technology, Guru Gobind Singh IndraprasthaUniversity. He received his B.Sc. Engineering Degree in Electronics & Communication from Regional Engi-neering College, Kurukshetra in 1987, M.Tech. & Ph.D. degree from Department of Computer Science &Engineering, I.I.T., Delhi in 1991 and 1999 respectively. Prior to joining this University, he was AssistantProfessor in Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering, C.R. State College of Engineering, Murthal, Sonepat(1996-2000) and Senior Scientific Officer in Center for Applied Research in Electronics I.I.T., Delhi (1987-1995). He has published 20 research papers in Conferences, Proceedings and Journals. He has worked on 7sponsored and 2 consultancy projects as co-investigator at I.I.T., Delhi. He has supervised 9 M.Tech. Thesis,published 13 technical reports, released 3 software’s for copyright at I.I.T., Delhi. Dr. Chandra Shekhar Rai (Lecturer)Dr.Chandra Shekhar Rai is a lecturer with the School of Information Technology since July 1999. He completed hisP.Hd. from GGSIPU in 2003 in the area of Neural Networks.He obtained his M.E. degree in Computer Engineeringfrom SGS Institute of Technology & Science, Indore. He has earlier worked as a lecturer at SSVPS EngineeringCollege, Dhule (MS) and Guru Jambeshwar University, Hissar. BANERJEE recieved his honours degrees in Pure Physics (1955) from the University of Calcuttawith a Graduate Scholarship and PhD from the University of Manchester, U.K (1972) where he was awardeda Commonwealth Scholarship for doctoral work in Operations Research and Computer Systems. His vastexperience in matters relating to information management and allied subjects stems from his close associa-tion with the Ministries of Defense, Finance, Industry and Directorate General of Technical Developmentwhere he served in senior official capacities for 17 years up to 1975 followed by TATA Steel, administrationStaff College of India and All India Management Association in 1975-89.

Form 1989 – 91, he took over as National Director at the prestigious body India Ghandhi National Center forthe Arts (IGNCA) to prepare UNDP project document on the Mulimedia Database for Indian Art And Culture.He has been advisor and consultant for Information Technology for ET&T Corporation and National OpenSchool(NOS), Delhi; Rollatainers ltd., Faridabad; Institute of Management Technology and Swadeshi Polytechsltd. at Gaziabad; Orissa Computer Applications Center(OCAC), Bhubneshwar and others. From 1991- 2003he has been chairman, Governing Council for Academic Affairs, XANSA India which is a UK based multina-tional involved in software development, application Management, export project servicesand product sup-port with a strong interest in IT and Management education. After superannuating, in DRDO Consultants at SPL. He is a Professor/ visiting professor at DIT and DCE (atKashmiri Gate Campus, Delhi) teaching microwave engineering, antennas to BE and ME, courses (KashmiriGate complex) and M.Sc. Tech. Of Delhi University. Jt. Director, Solid State Physics Lab, DRDO, Delhi.

He has worked earlier as Professor of Electro-technology at the Institute of Armament Tech. Pune. He hasguided work for M.Tech and Ph.D.Research scientist at Lebedev Physics Institute, Academy of Science,Moscow. NRC Postdoctoral Research Fellow at McGill University, Montreal. He was also a lecturer of AppliedPhysics, JK Institute of Applied Physics, Allahabad University teaching M.Sc. Tech courses and conductingresearch in Microwave absorption and dispersion in materials.

Apart from this he is a member of ISI microwave components. Co-chairman International Workshop onPhysics of Semiconductor Devices, New Delhi 1991. Delivered invited talks and chaired sessions in national/international conferences. Published over 60 research publications.

The M.Tech (Integrated) Information Technology aspires to generate global IT professionals, to fare

forward in the realm of Information boom, taking on the ever emerging challenges in this growth ori-

ented field of Information Technology, excelling in all spheres of activity from knowledge based skills to

team work and communication. M.Tech (Integrated) in Information Technology is a unique amalgamation

of Computer Science Engineering and Communication Engineering, the two disciplines that form the

building blocks of today’s IT era. All round development of the students is ensured with courses on

Management, Organizational Behavior and Communication Skills being an integral part of the curricu-

lum.

In order to provide the essential practical knowledge base, apart from summer training after the 2nd

and 3rd years respectively, the entire final semester has been devoted to training. Interactive teaching

with regular seminars, presentations and guest lectures is the USP of the course. The five and a half

years integrated M.Tech programme in Information Technology has been designed to tap the potential

of the student right after the senior secondary level. The course offers the distinct advantage of gradu-

ating with a B.Tech degree in four years, and this would lead to an M.Tech degree in the subsequent one

and a half years.

Master of Computer Applications - Specialization in Software Engineering is a three year postgraduate

programme of the School of Information Technology. Students for this prestigious course are selected

through an All India level entrance examination conducted by the University. The design and structure

PARICHAY – USEFI DATABANK

CLIENT : UNITED STATES EDUCATION FOUNDATION IN INDIA (USEFI)

The project was made to fully automate the HR department of the organization. A key objective was to prepare adatabase/design & user interface for managing the exhaustive information about all the contacts and the nationallevel events by USEFI. The database so designed in SQL Server was expected to provide real-time updation andretrieval of information. The project involved an access control mechanism by which an officer was allowed to viewthe information and prevent unauthorized access. It was extended to generation of all type of reports needed byUSEFI.

Real Time software for monitoring and control

CLIENT: Defense Research and Development organization.

The software is embedded part of Sighting System of a armored vehicle. This is a Gyro Stabilized control thatprovides line of control Stabilized to a high degree of accuracy against any vehicular disturbance in the Azimuth andElevation axes. The main function of the SEU is to acquire target data from the Laser Range Finder (LRF), fordesignating and engaging targets, along with transferring the relevant data to the Fire Control Computer (FCC). Italso provides user interface to manage System health and relevant information.

Project included Development and Installation of Enterprise Communication Solutions using a wide range of Si-emens products for accomplishment of jobs like Customized Corporate LAN Development over Wired and WirelessPlatforms using L2/L3 3COM switches and CISCO Routers, Communication Systems using Siemens CommunicationServers supporting both Digital and Analog transmission along with Campus Wireless Telephone over DECT, Con-vergence Solution i.e. VoIP technology System Integration and Communication Solutions using Video Conferencingover ISDN and IP.

Pick ‘N’ Place Arm

CLIENT: Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University

The Project involved working on 8086 Training/development kit and experiment with the Assembly LanguageProgramming on the Kit. The second stage involves interfacing of various study modules like 8255 (ProgrammablePeripheral Interface), 8259(Programmable interrupt Controller), 8254(Programmable Interval timer), 8279 (Pro-grammable Keyboard/Display Interface etc.) to the trainer kit and their study. The project involved working withthe Analog to Digital & Digital to Analog Converter to study signal storage in hex and reproduction on the Oscillo-scope. Specifically interfacing and synchronizing two stepper motors for Pick ‘n’ Place arm was studied and imple-mented. In the beginning the kit was used for controlling through the Stepper Motor Card in Normal Drive and lateron Half- Step Drive and Wave Drive were also tried. Finally the computer’s parallel port was used to send signals tocontrol the motors using C Programming. Further on the motors were run with load and tested for use with a realarm.

SMS Center Report Operator Interface

CLIENT : Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd.

For viewing the data at SMSC through Remote Operator Interface or SMP. SMSC basically receives short messagefrom originating MS through MSC, IWMSC, then stores the message and then delivers the short message to theterminating MS.

The data SMSC includes short message for MS, PLMN specific data, system data, News letter subscription data,Traffic data etc. This large data needs to be managed by certain operators authorized by the service provider. Sincea mobile network spans across geographical areas so it is required to grant remote access to the operators.

For the purpose of managing this data a service management point (SMP) is created through which the operatorsget connected to the SMSC via a JDBC connection over the web request.

Network Monitoring Tool

CLIENT : ERNET India Society

This tool was developed for network administrators to effectively monitor network traffic. The tool can sniff thepacket contents, and create a log file of the same. It can graffically plots the traffic flow and the percentage ofthe type of packets received. Snapshots of these graphs can be taken and stored in various formats. Filters areavailable so as to monitor only specific types of packets.

Potential Nucleosome Sequence Prediction

CLIENT : Jawaharlal Nehru University

This project is executed as Summer project 2003, under the supervision of Andrew Lynn, Assistant Prof. atBioinformatics Center, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. The project involved Markov Chain and HiddenMarkov model as the machine learning applications in Bioinformatics.

Interactive Display and Map Editing System for GIS Applications

CLIENT : Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University

This work aimed at developing an Interactive Display and Map Editing System on which GIS applications can bemodeled with some enhancement. It provides a low cost alternative to digitize a map system. While retaining thecommon features like zooming scrolling it incorporated a more powerful editing module and complete mouseoperability on to the whole package. This also involved the new feature of automatic editing of map data by makinggraphical editing at front-end. This software can most effectively be used by a town planner to make available a cityroadmap wherein various networks can be associated thus helping in designing a planned city map.

GIS for optimized Delhi local bus routes

CLIENT : Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University

The work aimed to develop a generalized platform on which GIS application can be modeled with some enhance-ments and customization to the software. This work displays the bus routes on the digitized map of Delhi. Inincorporates the projection of the whole city map for the source and destination. It also displays the bus routestaken by different bus number. The work aims to suggest the shortest distance of the route taken. It alsoincludes the conventional features like zooming, scrolling, it also incorporates the graphical interface, editing ofbus stops, and convenient mouse operability to the user.

Text - to - Speech & Speech Recognition


This project "Text-To-Speech (TTS) & Speech Recognition (SR)" was an experiment using the Microsoft Speech SDKto build a Speech enabled application, an application that can read the text for the user (TTS) and that can also writefor the user on the basis of what he/she speaks into the system using microphone (SR). The system uses theinterface provided by the Microsoft Speech SDK to access and use the sample TTS and SR engines. The Systemprovides an easy to use interface to exploit some of the features of the TTS and SR engines of the Microsoft SpeechSDK.

Image Formats : A Comparative Study & Implementation


This project provides an interface to view images in the existing standard image formats (bmp, jpg, etc), andalso allows the user to create new images, modify the existing images, and store them in a new image format asimplemented. The project doesn’t implements any of the existing standard image formats. The image formatimplmented uses one of the basic encodeing schemes, i.e, the Run Length Encoding (RLE). The implementedimage format is compared against the exiting JPEG and BMP images on the basis of the quality of the image and

the size of the images.

WAP Implementation of University Website


This project aims at implementing a WAP version of the University’s Website. The main features includes display-ing University’s Information and the Entrance Test results conducted by university based on the entrance test rollno. The user have to select course and then input the roll no to see his/her details and result. The WAP site alsoshows university contact addresses and general information about the university. The site has been tested on

Reliance’s RWORLD and GPRS enabled GSM phones.
