Sub: To Celebrate “NSS Day” through “Online Events” - Regarding.

On the occasion of the 51st anniversary of the National Service Scheme which is an Indian

government-sponsored public service program conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports

of the Government of India. It is popularly known as NSS. The scheme was launched during the

Gandhiji's Centenary year in 1969. This is aimed at developing student's personality through

community service; NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities and at

+2 level working for a campus-community (esp. Villages) linkage.

NSS was formally launched on 24th September, 1969, the birth centenary year of the Father

of the Nation. Therefore, 24 September is celebrated every year as NSS Day. The motto of NSS is

“Not Me but You”. It reflects the essence of democratic living & upholds the need for selfless

service.

A week-long celebration is conceived in commemoration of NSS Day which will be

culminating on 24th September, 2020. Online competitions have been conceived in order to spread

awareness about NSS and its various themes.

NSS Unit-B of GGSIP University alongwith NSS unit of Vivekananda Institute of

Professional Studies (affiliated to GGSIPU) shall be conducting the event as a joint effort.
