THOMAS, We have had a wonderful two weeks with your children. We nished up safety week discussing the nal 6 topics of school safety and completing a lockdown and tornado drill. Your children did a fantastic job. Please feel free to discuss with your children the steps of ALiCE. Alert-Lockdown-Inform- Counter-Evacuate. They know this concept and were taught about the plan from a book called I'm Not Scared... I'm Prepared Because I Know All About ALICE by Julia Cook. Ocer Tracy read the book to kindergarten and second grade in person and via video for rst, third and fourth grades. Our nal six topics included not blocking doors open, listening to adults during drills and emergencies, following instructions, not sharing personal information with strangers online and reporting anything that looks out of place. These are great topics to follow up with at home! Please be on the lookout over the next two weeks for parent Canvas information! This will be a means of communications and celebration K-12. In addition, teachers will be sending you parent teacher conference information. Teachers will send you their available times to meet in October! Have a great weekend and thank you for sharing your children with us, Christi Thomas, Principal FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY

GLOBAL STUDIESThis week and next week students will be learning numbers through singing, playing games, and trying tongue twisters in Chinese using numbers. They also learned how to write theChinese characters for numbers 1-10 since those characters are extremely easy! Studentsalso started to learn the Chinese alphabet pinyin, which literally means “spelling of the sound”.This is the phonetics system of the Chinese language. With the foundation of pinyin, studentswill be able to read Chinese words labeled with the phonetics as well as typing Chinese on thekeyboard.
