Ransomware is a type of malicious software designed to block accessto a computer system until a sum of money is paid.

Malware is software that is intended to damage or disable computersand computer systems.

Scareware malicious computer programs designed to trick a user intobuying and downloading unnecessary and potentially dangeroussoftware, such as fake antivirus protection.

Adware is software that automatically displays or downloadsadvertising material (often unwanted) when a user is online.

Rootkit is a stealthy type of software, typically malicious, designed tohide the existence of certain processes or programs from normalmethods of detection and enable continued privileged access to acomputer.

Phishing is the activity of defrauding an online account holder offinancial information by posing as a legitimate company.

Spearphishing is an e-mail spoofing fraud attempt that targets aspecific organization, seeking unauthorized access to confidentialdata.
