5˚ Domingo de Pascua 5th Sunday of Easter May 19th, 2019 GETTING TO KNOW YOUR PRIEST!!! Father Lalo was born on April 3 in the city of Chihuahua, Mexico. He is the oldest of four brothers. His parents, Lalo and Agusna, have lived in the city of Albu- querque for more than 20 years and their three sisters, Cecilia, Mariel and María live in the city of Denver, Colorado. Since he was young he always felt the call to offer his life to God, but at the same me he always felt the desire to live the experiences and challenges of any young person before entering the seminary. It was thus that, to- gether with his spiritual director, he was always discerning what was the best mo- ment to be able to go to the seminary life in a conscious, free and full way. And it was then that when he finished his Bachelor of Arts he decided to take up that chal- lenge and leſt to begin his formaon in the Congregaon of Canossian Sons of Chari- ty in the city of Ribeirao Preto, São Paulo, Brazil. Country that loves uncondionally and in which it remained for more than 20 years. In 2008, he was sent to study Charismac Spirituality in Italy. He was or- dained a deacon on March 7, 2009 in the city of Piabeta in the state of Rio de Janeiro and ordained a priest on November 7, 2009 in the aforemenoned city under the hands of Archbishop Filippo Santoro, Archbishop of Petropolis -RJ- . Regarding his pastoral experience, he was parochial vicar in the Parish of San Sebasan in the city of Piabeta -RJ- from 2009 to 2010, aſter which he was named parish priest of the parish of Sao José Worker, in the city of Santa Rita do Passa Quatro. He was in São Paulo Brazil from 2010 to 2014. In that same year he was incardinated to the Archdiocese of Ribeirao Preto to join the Mis- sionary work project in the Amazon Rainforest and from 2015 to 2018 he remained in that project exercising the role of par- ish priest in the parish of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, in the city of Careiro da Varzea, in the state of Amazonas in Brazil. Since May 2018 he was appointed associate pastor of the Our Lady of Sorrows parish in the city of Las Vegas, NM and since December 2018, has been at the Sacred Heart of Jesus parish here in Clovis as Temporary Parish Administrator. In addion to exercising his role as parish priest, he was also a teacher of the formaon instutes for future parents as well as lay people who wanted a specializaon and a deeper formaon in the human and theological area. From 2015 to 2018 he was a professor at ITEPES (Instute of Theology, Pastoral and Higher Educaon of the Amazon) Instute. This is where the future parents of the North Region 1 of Brazil are prepared. In that instute he was a professor of Christology, Revelaon, Introducon to Theology, Homilecs and Fundamental Morality. He was also a professor in the AAPEC (Amazonian Associaon for Research and Chrisan Educaon), being a professor of Pastoral Theology. He was a member of the presbyterial and pastoral council in the Archdiocese of Ribeirao Preto, Denary, Spiritual director at the San Jose Seminary in Manaus, responsible for several social projects such as: The Amigo and Amici di Piabeta project among others. In regards to his academic life, Father Lalo has a BA in Spanish Literature from UACH (Autonomous University of Chi- huahua), Graduate in Philosophy from CEARP (Center for Studies of the Archdiocese of Ribeirao Preto), Graduate in Theolo- gy from Our Lady of the Assumpon School in San Pablo, Brazil; Master in Psychology from the USP (University of Sao Paulo) and has intensive courses in Human and Integral Formaon by the IFHIM (Instute of Human and Integral Formaon of Montreal, Canada) as well as in Spirituality. He is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese and Italian and is currently perfecng his English. And as of May 15, 2019, as- sumes pastoral responsibility of the Sacred Heart of Jesus here in Clovis as Parochial Administrator for the next few years. Clergy Abuse
In an effort to more thoroughly care for and expedite the healing process of our Catholic brothers
and sisters who have been victims of clerical abuse, Archbishop Wester is requiring us to reach

Memorial Day!!!
Memorial Day in on Monday, May 27th. This is not
only a national holiday but also an Archdiocesan hol-
iday as well. This means the office will be closed on
Memorial Day. Please forgive the inconvenience. It

Church League Softball Practice Our church league softball team/s have begun practicing. Please listen for announcements at Mass for dates, times, and location. All practices and games will take place on Guy
Leeder Field here in Clovis. We are looking forward to a fun and successful year of softball amongst our fellow brothers in Christ. Bring your equipment and
your registration fee to practice as they are due by the beginning of the season.

Once again, a special thanks to all the educa-

altar servers, choir, ushers, lectors, photogra-
phers, cooks and volunteers, custodial per-
sonnel and absolutely everyone who made
this Confirmation Mass a most blessed event.

Baptism Class
The next baptism class will be held on
Wednesday, May 22nd at 6:00p.m. at the
school, room 1. Keep in mind that this class
is mandatory for all parents and Godparents
of the children being baptized. We have one
English and one Spanish Baptism class each
month.
The Ascension
The Ascension of our Lord is a
Holy Day of Obligation. It is
celebrated on Thursday, May
30th. However, since it is a
moveable holiday, we will be
celebrating the feast day on Sun-
day, June 2nd. Like all other Holy Days of Obliga-
tion, it is mandatory that we as Catholics attend this
The food pantry operates every Saturday of the month
at 9:00a.m. in an effort to help the less fortunate of God’s
children in our community. Thanks be to God, our Food
Pantry is now the largest in Eastern New Mexico! Anyone
interested in volunteering, please come at 8:30AM or call
Rosie Buchan at 575-309-5040 for further information.
We are in need of volunteer drivers for food box
deliveries as well as help Friday mornings.
The Food Pantry is in need of the following items:
Macaroni and Cheese, canned soup, canned meat, peanut
butter and jelly.
