Page 2: Getting Focused on ADHD

What’s the problem?• ADHD has been labeled a

disorder, syndrome, problem creator

in society. • People with ADHD can leave

a wake of destruction and very exasperated people around them.

• Kids have been labeled as problems, nuisance, disturbed, special needs.

• Kids have been abused because they have the traits of ADHD (misunderstood).

The Real Problem…• Bigger Problem – New research is being done

everyday… finding real tangible evidence that shows there is a definite difference in the brain structure, functions, as well as, digestive system issues that augment the issues of having traits of ADHD.

• Parents, adults, and kids are

struggling, trying to find solutions to ever growing population that is being diagnosed, with ADHD, (worse, being incorrectly diagnosed).

Page 4: Getting Focused on ADHD

Why hasn’t it been solved?• Medication can help OR worsen the problem, no one

knows which medication will work for each person, so it’s really a game of brain chemical Russian roulette.

• The internet is filled with anecdotal, living room stories, guesses, and finger-pointing.

Trouble Solving the Issues• Most people are focused

on the negative attributes.

• We are just beginning to understand that there is a real reason for these traits.

• Parents, adults and kids – don’t have any tried and true way of understanding, containing and redirecting the enormous brain energy that comes from having the traits of an ADHD Brain.

What would it be Like?

• So many people see ADHD as impulsivity, distractibility, hyper-activity.

• The positive traits of ADHD are creativity, curiosity, and energy!

Imagine for a Moment• With all the distractions today in our world, these

Gifted People are going to be the ones who are able to correctly take all the incoming information, digest it, conceptualize it, and create new ways of performing operations, and creating products that will save the world in ways like never before. (Edison, Wright Brothers, Columbus, Einstein, Steve Jobs.)

Creating a New Future• School curriculums that strengthen and support ADHD-type thinkers and doers.• Less drugs being incorrectly prescribed to our children.• Kids growing up with self-esteem

instead of being branded a problem..• Change the drug abuse, and

alcoholism, and addiction that is so prevalent with ADHD.
