Hayah SharksHayah Under-11 Elementary Football Tournament

On March 2nd, Hayah hosted an Elementary Football Tournament for neighbouring Interna-tional Schools. The tournament, for both boys & girls, involved CAC, MES, Malvern & Metro-politan.

The tournament was held in a round-robin format, with the girls’ group consisting of 6 teams & the boys group with 8. The boys did extremely well in their 7 games, registering 5 wins, 1 draw & 1 lose. Ultimately, it was a loss to the unbeaten MES ‘A’ team which meant that the boys feel slightly short and finished second overall. For the girls, they managed to register 3 wins & 2 draws from their 5 games. This meant that they finished levels on points with the girls MES ‘A’ Team, meaning that league positions would then need to be divided by goal difference. Having scored just one goal more than MES, Hayah topped the group & were crowned Champions of the tournament.

Massive congratulations to both teams, all the player’s involved & to Coaches Ahmed, Jemma & Fatema for all their hard work.

Elementary Swim Meets @ Metropolitan

Hayah Win CISSA MS Boys Football Tournaent

Big congratulations to the boys & girls involved in the Swim Invitationals @ Metropolitan on Wed, 10th & Wed 17th April. The small group of competing students performed over four different swimming disciplines – breaststroke, butterfly, backstroke & freestyle, with the addi-tional freestyle relays. Over the two Invitationals, Hayah managed an impressive medal haul of 23 medals from their respective discipline Finals. All students represented the school in a stel-lar manner, with stand-out performances from Yasmine Galal (4E), Abd El Rahman Mohamed Abdul Azim (5R), Maryam Soweilam (5S) & Aly El Gendy (5R).

Well done to all involved & special thanks to Coaches Ahmed & Sheila for their dedication & hard work.

On May 12th, Hayah hosted the Middle School Boys CISSA Football Tournament. The tourna-ment involved all six CISSA (West Conference) Schools – CAC, AIS-E, ISC-C, MES & NCBIS. The tournament began with two groups of three teams, with Hayah grouped with NCBIS & CAC. Hayah comfortably won both of their group games to top the group, meaning they would then face the runners-up of the opposite group – ISC-C. The semi-final was very close, with Choueifat taking an unexpected early lead. However, an equaliser by Hussein Shawki & a late winner by Aly Haytham were enough for the Boys to progress to the final. The final was very tense between two very good, competitive teams. Again, Hayah conceded an early goal but a quick response through Hesham El Alamy brought them back into the game. With nothing to separate the two teams during normal time, the game then went to penalties. Two converted Hayah penalties & good saves by Hayah Goalkeeper, Youssef Azab Walied meant Hayah where crowned Champions for 2016/17.

El Gouna AIMZ Tournaments This ultimately meant that the boys finished 2nd but meant they went straight through into the AIMZ Cup Quarter Finals. A 0-5 victory in their quarter-final paired them with ACC in the semi-final. A tense semi-final was finally decided by penalty kicks with Hayah progressing to the AIMZ Cup final to face Lycee International. Meanwhile, for the girls, their semi-final was also a tense and close affair. A solitary goal from Khadija Sabry was enough for the girls to progress to the finals to face CISE.

In the boys AIMZ Cup final, a heroic effort from Man of the Match, Abdelrahman Sallam, with two goals was enough to see them overcome Lycee & be crowned 2017 Champions. For the girls, in the Road To The States Final, they faced a CISE team that had convincingly beaten them in the week leading to the tournament at Hayah. Ultimately, a superbly taken Mariam Said free-kick & some resolute defending saw the girls through as Hayah took their second trophy of the tournament as Champions again.

In April, both the MS & JV boys were both placed in 3 team groups, aiming to progress to the next round. For the MS boys, this would be their first trip to Gouna to compete. The MS boys started the tournament in strong fashion by topping their group with 2 wins & a draw. The quarter final draw pitted them against EBIS. Despite a goal by Abdelrahman Abdel Gawad, the game finished level, meaning penalties. Unfortunately, the Sharks lost the dreaded lottery of penalties. They then played a 5th vs 6th play-off but were once again thwarted, this time by an El Alsson team they had already beaten in the group stages.

For the JV Sharks, they qualified straight to the semi -finals via a win & a draw. The semi-final was a tale of penalties. TBS took the lead through a penalty, with the Sharks chasing the game. After hitting the post three times, time was running out before Mohamed Ghoneim earned the Sharks a penalty in the last minute of the normal time. The penalty was then converted by Abdallah Nafie, sending the game into extra-time. The two teams could still not be separated, so penalties were needed again, which the Sharks won. Onto the final & the Sharks faced a tough opposition in CISE. A tight contested was decided through a superb long range free-kick by Abdu Allah Asaad, mean-ing Hayah won its third AIMZ competition in as many months. Thank you to AIMZ & all of our Sharks coaches for given up their time to make these tournaments a success.

In 2017, Hayah entered two AIMZ Football Tournaments. This would be Hayah’s fifth anniversary year to attend. In January, our male & female Varsity Sharks competed in the Road To The States Tournament & in April, our male MS & Junior Varsity Sharks competed in the Spring Soccer Tournament. Both Tournaments were held in El Gouna.

In January, the both Sharks Team went into group stages with 3 other schools, competing for a top two position in order to progress to the next round. The girls began the group stages with two wins & a loss. A heavy defeat to El Alsson meant that they finished the group in second to play their semi-final against EBIS. For the boys, the group stages results equated to 1 win, 1 draw & a loss.
