Adding value to the design and construction industry

Research and developmentThe CISC and the Structural Steel Education Foundation (SSEF) support the education system, encouraging research in steel design.

Research Grants Numerous grants are presented to University researchers from an annual budget of $100,000. The researcher with the highest ranking is presented with the H. A. Krentz Award.

G. J. Jackson Memorial Fellowship Award This annual award is presented to Canadian engineering students conducting graduate studies in structural engineering, with major emphasis on steel structures. This prestigious award is currently valued at $15,000.

Architectural Student Design Competition This annual competition asks architecture students to design a structure with specific challenges such as curvature, tension and cantilever. The competition provides architecture students with the opportunity to explore and develop their abilities and preference for designing structures made with steel.

Graduate Engineer in Training CISC provides stellar graduates with their first two years of employment as they become Professional Engineers.

Scholarships and Co-op Programs Many of our regions provide scholarships to university students studying engineering or architecture, our members also offer student co-op programs.
