Developed by CUES, Granite XP is a comprehensive pipe-line condition assessment software solution for the Water/Wastewater industry that now offers a fl exible bi-directional interface to ESRI ArcGIS products!
The Granite XP ESRI module provides an integrated solution to create and analyze infrastructure data. The Granite XP Map View module allows users to view and access assets located within GIS maps to perform inspections, collect and integrate GPS coordinates, and review all asset history.
The system is able to collect, store, display, manipulate, analyze data, and then link the information to locations on
a map. Granite XP stores the map-based data in layers, with each layer containing a single specifi c type of data. Those data layers then can be manipulated and analyzed, either individually or in combination with other layers.
The Granite XP ESRI module is an alternative that saves money! The Granite XP software helps municipalities and contractors meet GASB 34/ CMOM regulatory requirements by enabling a proactive maintenance management program that’s fully integrated into ArcGIS. Users can accurately map, create, and build infrastructure in a cost-effective way regardless of whether a large GIS enviroment already exists!

The ESRI map view module providesan integrated solution to create and

ArcGIS stores spatial data in different data types: databases, shapefi les, coverages, geometry networks, layer fi les, and more! With the ESRI module, Granite XP and ArcGIS data can be synchronized!
For ease-of-use, the Granite XP ESRI module includes a unique synchronization wizard that’s designed to import and export asset data to/from Granite XP and ArcGIS. The following synchronization options are provided with the system:
• Import asset data and coordinates from ArcGIS to Granite XP. Assets of any type can be imported to the Granite XP database from the corresponding layers in ArcGIS.
• Export asset data and coordinates from Granite XP to ArcGIS. Assets of any type can be exported from Granite XP database to the corresponding layers in ArcGIS.

Map View Module Benefi ts & FeaturesThe revolutionary fl exibility of Granite XP comes from the use of software plug-ins. Plug-ins provide the ability to add new features to Granite XP so that the core application can continually grow and accept new technologies as they enter the industry.
The Map View plug-in is an optional module in Granite XP that provides the ability to link Water/Wastewater data to an overall GIS strategy.
• Display map document fi les that were cre-ated in ArcGIS; the selected map document fi le will immediately be loaded and saved as default for future use.
• Supports MXD (Map Documents) and PMF (Published Map) fi le types.
• Select specifi c features on the map using the mouse!
• Zoom to specifi c assets that have been selected in the Project Navigator tree!
• Select the most recent TV inspection of the asset corresponding to the map feature currently selected on the map
• Initiate a new project from a Main Asset that’s been selected in Map View (Granite XP)
• Create new inspections for a new project.

Exporting Assets from Granite XP to ArcGIS:The Export Assets to ArcGIS synchronization option exports selected Sewer Main assets and, if needed, the related upstream and downstream Sewer Nodes and Lateral assets. The following asset information can be exported to ArcGIS:
• Attached Assets – assets that were imported from GIS or previously exported to GIS that already have an ArcGIS ID.
• Unattached Assets – assets that were created “in the fi eld” in Granite XP that do not already have an ArcGIS ID. A new asset is created in the corresponding GIS based on the Granite XP properties.
The GPS module works with the pipeline data acquisi-tion system, ESRI interface, and TV inspection system to perform numerous benefi cial operations:
• The GPS module connects to the GPS receiver device, extracts the current coordinates from the device output, and shares the information with other data acquisition system components.
• The GPS module supports the NMEA-0183 com-patible GPS receivers working through the COM (RS-232) hardware interface.
• Display and obtain the current GPS coordinate(s) for the following objects: • the single coordinate of the Sewer Node • two coordinates of the Main Asset or Lateral
Asset’s connection and end points• the single coordinate of a specifi c observa-
tion • Obtain an estimation of the intermediate location
based on the known coordinates of the upstream and downstream sewer nodes and known footage and lengths
• The toolbar displays the current state and coor-dinate that’s transmitted by the GPS receiver.
The ESRI module supports GPS devices with the optional GPS module!

of the Sewer Node, Main and Lateral Assets in three different ways: • GPS receiver directly connected with the PC • Enter the end points to obtain estimated coordinates • Enter GPS coordinates manually

Importing Assets from ArcGIS to Granite XP:The Import from ArcGIS synchronization option imports the following information to Granite XP:
• selected Sewer Main assets, Lateral Assets and, if needed, the related upstream and downstream Sewer Node data from ArcGIS to Granite XP.
• the asset is converted into data that is compatible with the geographic coordinate system
If the asset does not exist in the database, a new asset is cre-ated in Granite XP. If the asset already exists in the database, the asset is updated with the new properties and coordinates based on the fi eld’s mapping properties!
With the ArcGIS import/export wizard, select the GIS source, fi lters, and features based on your needs!

After importing feature classes from ArcGIS to Granite XP, the assets and sewer nodes will be displayed in the Project Navigator tree.
Use the Map View pane to select the features that were imported to Granite XP with a mouse-click!
Click on an asset in the Project Navigator and the corresponding asset will become selected on the map!
Retrieve asset information by selecting an object in the map!
Load recently completed main asset’s and lateral asset’s TV inspections into the corresponding pane!
Select one or several features in the map and generate new inspections for the Main Assets!
Create new projects from a section of the Map!
Create new inspections for a new/existing project!
