I am Sho Mehring and I was chosen to do the job of the Writer/Editor. I

enjoy talking more than I should and also enjoy reading the news from certain

websites. In the area of health, I like to learn about herbal medicines and about

how certain words have effects on our mental state. Unfortunately I don't have

any aspirations of continuing on any of these paths in the career of Health.

Except I do think that health is helpful for me, as I learn certain things that

could help in the future incase that I have a health breakdown.

My name is Hiromi Morita, and I was chosen to take the lead as the artist

for this health magazine called, Gesundhiet. I enjoy talking with people around

me and I am an organized person. A health topic that I am most interested in, is

physical therapy and medication and how they work mainly because I take

physical therapy. Due to the fact that I take physical therapy once a week, I am

confident in knowledge on how the human body works.

I am Eri Takeuchi, and I am the IT specialist for this magazine,

Gesundhiet. As the IT specialist, I like to experiment using different types of

softwares and computer programs such as, iMovie, Paint, and Adobe

Photoshop. I also enjoy talking to my friends, eating, sleeping, and running.

My interest is on the mental functions of human beings, and I hope to

specialize in neuroscience and psychology in the future.

I am Nikita Jain, and I was chosen as the leader of this Gesundhiet. I

enjoy making people laugh and I enjoy making people smile. I really like

human biology and aspire to have a career related to biology in the future.

Currently I am learning about what causes diseases. I also ponder the

merits of herbal medicines.

Laughter is the best medicine.

LAUGHING IS A POTENTIAL CURE FOR CANCERWho knew laughter could cure cancer?

Cancer is a disease in which cells uncontrollably divide in certain parts of the body. Cures are yet to be discovered for the various types of cancer cells that need to be destroyed. However, there are few treatments and precautions against cancer. Some eradicate cancer completely such as radiation treatments and bone-marrow transplants. Others have temporary aids, such as medication. Apart from generally maintaining a healthy lifestyle by avoiding smoking, drinking, and eating an unhealthy diet, scientists have discovered the a possibly ultimate way to cure cancer and several other severe illnesses, laughter. Laughing is something people naturally do, and it isn’t a

medication that we can purchase at stores. This actions that we do as a daily basis benefits us unconsciously without realization. Just like when listening to music, laughing increases our  brain functions to activate the brainwaves quickly and efficiently. People who suffer from severe cancer tend to have a negative point of view. They are challenged to enjoy their life and often choose to isolate themselves from others to be alone. This occurs because patients with cancer have difficulties communicating with others and expressing their feelings. While a patient suffers from cancer, their brain and body tend to become stiff and stolid. The majority of patients diagnosed with cancer become close-minded and hopeless.

Laughter is a cure that relaxes the body in the emotional and physical factors. It soothes people, calming their minds, while loosening the body to make it flexible. Scientific studies show that people who laugh a lot are likely to have a positive attitude towards their illness compared to other patients who have the same symptoms who are always depressed.

According to the “Cancer Treatment Center of America”, also known as the CTCA, an organization

where they help patients with cancer, they had said that in their society they offer a humor therapy session known as the “Laughter Club” to help patients with cancer and their families to enjoy a session of humor and fun. The reason for entertaining the people with jokes isn’t just for the sake of laughter but also to give exercise to the face. This way, most of the patients who suffer from cancer has an opportunity to relax their mind and implicate with the surroundings.

As a conclusion, laughter helps patients because it sets the their minds off of cancer and gives an opportunity to relax and think of other topics. This tells us that even if we don’t have cancer, people should laugh so that the brain stays healthy at all times. Laughter not only helps patients diagnosed with cancer, but prevents it for those who are at high risks of cancer. We must remember that cancer is very severe; however, there are many ways to cure it and doctors are searching for better ways help the patient. We should all start taking action and consider laughing or smiling to live a bright and healthy future.

Bullying is a widespread social problem between teenagers and young adults. According to Violence Prevention Works, bullying is defined as “aggressive behavior that is intentional and involves an imbalance of power, most often repeated over time.” Cases of bullying are continuously increasing and have been reported by students all over the world. Many researches show that roughly 70% of students in elementary, middle, and high school are, or have been victims of bullying.! As students living in Japan, we need to be informed thoroughly on the brutality of “Ijime” (bullying in Japanese). According to the numbers announced by the Japanese Ministry of Education and Culture, 70,231 cases of bullying were reported by elementary and middle school students in 2011. This result shows that cases of bullying have exceeded 70,000 for three years in a row. Countless Japanese students, as of in many countries, are currently suffering from harsh bullying that they are unable to escape from. Japanese “ijime” is vastly

different from bullying in many countries including the United States. Bullying in the United States or in other countries are often harassment or violence in the hallways. Although these forms of bullying are also common in Japan, “ijime” in Japan is often the social exclusion or verbal abuse of the victim.

“Shikato”, a strong form of exclusion that is commonly used in Japan, is when an individual is ignored and isolated completely from the surrounding. Exclusion has an effect of making the victim feel depressed, destroying their hope.! With the drastic increase in the number of bullying reported, more suicide caused by bullying is shown in Japan than before. It was announced recently that over 200 elementary and middle school students have committed suicide in 2011. Although

only 4 students were proven to have died as a result of bullying, there are numerous

suicide cases caused by unknown reasons(most likely bullying).

Nevertheless, Japanese “ijime” escalates in various cases to even cause death of students who are unable to deal with their problems with bullying efficiently.! Bullying shows little sign of easing down. Although completely

ending bullying in the world is difficult for students and teachers to do, there

are ways to stop or ease bullying that anyone can. Cooperation of all individuals

are needed to make a change. The first step in stopping bullying is to have courage. If you are the victim of bullying, have courage to face your bully. If you are a witness of bullying, have courage to inform others and raise awareness that somebody is being bullied. Courage is needed to help you take your first step to accomplishing the task of making a safe environment for students. Have courage. Take the first step to stop bullying. The second step is to tell someone about your situation. Whether you are a victim or a witness, inform your teachers, parents, or an adult. Ask for help. Don’t be afraid to rely on someone to help you save a victim from torture. Bullying is a big social problem in that needs to be stopped in countries all over the world. With everybody’s cooperation and courage, bullying can be stopped.

Types of Bullying:

Verbal bullying- Teasing- Name-calling- Taunting- Threatening to cause harmSocial Bullying- Excluding someone on purpose- Spreading rumors- Embarrassing someone in publicPhysical Bullying- Hitting and kicking- Tripping and pushing- Taking or breaking someone’s

things- Making mean or rude gestures

39% of teenagers in America drink alcohol. The legal drinking age however is 21, and in some states 20. Nevertheless, the rules are not enforced enough resulting in many underaged drinkers. Many of these teens justify themselves by saying , 'It makes me happy!’, ‘I didn't drink too much!’ or ‘YOLO’. YOLO is an acronym for “You Only Live Once.” Many teenagers adhere to this ‘motto’ rather than adhering to the laws prohibiting underage drinking. 5000 teenagers die annually due to alcohol abuse, which means they 'drove under the influence' or had mental issues because of having too much alcohol. This means that their so-called motto is getting proven immediately. I personally believe that drinking sparingly is bad. I don't have any religious reasonings behind it either. I simply think it’s wrong. There’s a reason for having an age restriction for alcohol, and there are obviously going to be negative health effects if you break that restriction. I also do not understand the reasoning behind doing things like this, people just say that it makes them happy. However, I think that there are just so many other ways to happiness like listening to amazing music, hanging out with friends, going to amusement parks, eating, etc. If people think that the temporary forgetfulness caused by alcohol is the only thing that makes them 'happy' or 'relaxed', I'm going to be straightforward and say that they have gone mental. This of course, is my opinion and I

think many will beg to differ. If people are happy with drinking, they're going to crave more of this ‘happiness’ which just

creates an unnecessary mental dependence on it. I recently talked to one of my

friends who attend high school in America, and she said that

everyone in her class drinks, or have drunk at least once. Isn't that quite significant? It’s not like people are oblivious to the harmfulness of alcohol, so we can't overlook it and say 'Oh, they were young and foolish. Hopefully they won't do it

again.' . People know that drinking would result in

negative results, and yet they still go ahead with it.

Teenagers don’t go through the amount of stress required to resort to

drinking, and either way, drinking really isn't a cure to stress. In conclusion, I personally believe that laws regarding alcohol should be enforced more by having cops or law enforcers paying close attention at stores, making sure that no underaged person extends their hands to alcohol.

If these measures are kept, then possibly the amount of underaged drinkers

will decrease and people will find out the use of alcohol

is bad for our body.

UNDERAGE ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION

9

Page 11: Gesundheit
Page 12: Gesundheit

Young people attracted to alcohol.

The legal drinking age differs from place to place. In America, the drinking age is 21 while in Japan, it’s 20. However, many adolescents do not follow the laws regarding alcohol and choose to drink at an early age. According to the website Thea Century Council, more than 10 million people who are in the ages 12~20 report that they have been consuming alcohol before they reach the drinking age.

The survey done by the National Survey on Drug and Use of Health in the year 2010 has come up with the result of 2% of them are drinkinking at the age of 12, 21% at age 16 and 56% at the age of 20. The reason for young teenagers to begin drinking at such an early age is that they experience depression and they want to ‘go with the flow’ or look ‘cool’. Additionally, according to the website Straight DUI, many teenagers decide to drink alcohol because it helps them take control of their emotion and feel accepted into society rather than being isolated from it. However, drinking at an early age is hazardous to teen health.

Drinking at a young age can do damage to brain cells. Teenager’s need to use their brains more than adults do, so if alcohol starts deteriorating the brain cells at a young age, teenagers will have problems in acquiring knowledge and have trouble storing new information which will affect their future. Teens will also not be able to think straight resulting in a disagreeable mood toward others. If alcohol were to be

consumed in large amounts in a short amount of time, it is considered as binge drinking. Binge drinking causes painful hangovers and poor brain coordination for the next day. Adolescence is a time when teenagers grow and develop their brain, and if they drink heavily they’re

reducing their potential for brain growth. As teens drink, they feel like they’re happier and cooler than when they are sober. Also, by drinking at an early state, most teenagers withdraw themselves from society and withdraw themselves from others. This is because they feel that by drinking, they’re mature and adult-like, therefore they tend to choose to be around other drinkers and by doing look for comfort and safety.

There are various types of alcohol and they each

have different percentages of alcohol in them. This also relates to how fast the alcohol goes in to the body. This affects how much brain damage it gives to the person who takes in this alcohol depending on the amount. However, alcohol is a well-known way for teenagers to use to control their emotions. It is said that alcohol helps them to reduce pain they are feeling through depression. Also by being drunk, they release their stress out and it’s their way to express their existence. In conclusion, underage drinking is mainly done to release stress and a way to express one’s feeling towards another. However, by drinking at an early age it may cause serious brain damage and unhealthy. Instead of drinking, it is recommended that teenagers should be more open minded and be comfortable talking and expressing their emotions to others and not keeping it inside of them.

Heavy Bags a Problem for Students As the new school sessions have begun, ignorance grows within the students of the school as we jam pack our bags for the long tedious days to come. Unfortunately no matter how much we are reminded by our teachers and our peers, we are unsuccessful in lightening the load of our bags. This is possibly because of textbooks and loads homework that we are receiving. This whole situation leads up to back pain. Which is because students carry their backpacks which are either unsuitable, (further details on what is suitable and unsuitable will be mentioned in the paragraphs to follow) or just too heavy causing and unhealthy unbalance to the body. Heavy textbooks, and loads of homework, your child may be coming home each day, moaning and complaining. These moans and groans shouldn't be left alone by parents either. Your child may be suffering from excessive weight in his or her's backpacks, causing them to have back pain. This could lead your child to have less concentration while doing homework or during school hours. This leads you to have lower grades and possibly issues with friends. Backpacks that don't have wide, padded shoulder straps don't offer

enough support. They put on too much pressure onto the wearer's shoulder; because when you apply too much weight in a small surface area, a lot of pressure is exerted.Therefor wide shoulder-straps are strongly recommended. Sometimes, another cause of these back pains is the way the child uses their back pack. Many children sling their backpacks meaning they only use one shoulder-strap. This could cause the spine to deform and could even be an underlying cause of scoliosis. According to Harvard researchers, using only one shoulder straps could also cause muscle spasms. Children should be recommended to pack heavier items closer to the back, since it decreases the drag of the textbooks. As the year goes by, students may have worsening symptoms due to heavy bags, to make sure that the students stay in tip top shape, it is recommended that teachers and parents pay close attention to the children when they enter a classroom or return home. Few steps that could be done are; ask questions. It is important to know whether or not the child is suffering from heavy bags. Also if you ever have a chance, you should try to feel the weight of your child's bag. If you think that it is heavy, or too heavy tell your child and see if something can be done about it. If, you follow these steps, you may have a higher chance in stopping

Prevent Osteoporosis: The disease that destroys your bones. Approximately 40 million people in the United States are at a risk of having Osteoporosis. Worldwide, one in three women and one in five men are said to have weak bones when over the age of 50. Osteoporosis is a bone mineral density seen in many women across the world that is not as uncommon as it may seem. It weakens the bones, causing injuries and pain in the joints to occur easily. Osteoporosis creates a higher chance of bone injuries to occur in the female gender. This is mainly due to the fact that the spine becomes weakened and begins to curl into the shape of an S. The curving applies a large amount of pressure onto the middle portion of the back, causing muscle strains in upper back pain. The only definite way that is known to cure Osteoporosis is changing our lifestyle completely. There are several factors pertaining to one’s risk of getting Osteoporosis, one of which is genetics. If someone has ever had Osteoporosis in your ancestral heritage, you are at a higher risk of Osteoporosis in comparison to a person who has never had a Osteoporosis in his or her ancestral heritage. It is still possible to

get Osteoporosis even if you’ve never had someone in your ancestry have it. Anyone is at the risk of developing Osteoporosis, so it’s never alright to start being careless with your lifestyle. Smoking and frequent consumption of alcohol are some minor factors that cause Osteoporosis. Relatively short people from  Caucasian or Asian ethnicities with averse opinions considering strenuous exercise are more likely to get Osteoporosis. People are likely to get Osteoporosis if they lack in exercise since the bones in the body are not “trained” to handle body weight or the weight of bags. This leads us to say, if you fix some of the factors, you’ll be able to drastically decrease your chances of having Osteoporosis. Osteoporosis can be prevented, and through a few easy steps it will be prevented. The simple and easy steps that should be followed will change people’s lifestyle vastly in negative and positive means; however, after seeing the result of these steps you will definitely be in gratitude. By taking in daily doses of Vitamin D and getting exposure to sunlight, you will absorb enough Vitamin D to create more calcium. With some regular exercise and the cutting down of smoking or drinking habits, the massive difference in the risk of having Osteoporosis will become obvious.

Letters to the Editor

First I would like to thank you for reading this magazine Hiromi Morita. Me and the fellow people

that are working on this magazine are doing our best to put the best of the best articles into this magazine. I

do enjoy the article about Green Tea too, as I drink Green Tea regularly in the morning. I have seen the

qualities in the type of tea, and unlike other people, I do not think that it has a bitter taste to it.

To answer your question of what inspired me to publish this magazine is that recently in this

generation, there are many people who need to stay up late, for work related reasons or school related

reasons. This affects our whole lifestyle from the way we eat to the way we develop. As we all know, sleep is

the main roots for development of young adults and teenagers. Sleep is also important in helping you

processing information. It is said that the human body needs, minimally 8 hours of sleep for the brain to

rejuvenate and process facts that were learned that day. If that doesn’t happen, the human body will lose many

capabilities that it should be able to do.

I think that people who are physically disabled are no different from ordinary people. They were just

born into a different way of the human body. So in my opinion I think that, even if you are disabled, you have

equal rights of the non-disabled people and you should be able to do the exact same thing as they do.

From,

The Editor

Dear Editor,

I have read your magazine Gesundheit, and I was inspired to see all the different

articles about various topics in your magazine. The article about Green Tea was very

interesting to read.

What inspired you to publish this magazine and write these articles? Are you

exposed to any health related activities during your daily life? It would be helpful if

you wrote an article about physical disabilities. I believe that it is an important issue

to discuss during our age. What do you think of people who are physically

challenged?

Letters to the Editor

Thank you too Incognito for reading our magazine, Gesundheit. I am sorry to hear about what is going

on in your life at the moment. I recommend that you stay strong and do the best that you can do to face this

situation.

To answer your generation about if our generations has become incurable I have a couple different

views, but to be honest, I don’t think there is anything wrong with this generation. Yes, there may be some

people who enjoy using power against people, but they are the minority. I feel as that, if you try to cure these

people, there will be a complete unbalance in power. So these people must stay as they are and learn how to

feel sorry for someone.

It is hard for me to answer your final question on how I prevent something I really want to avoid. This

is mainly because it is as if you are controlling life and you don’t have any freedom. I suggest that no matter

how much you want to avoid something, you should face it straight up in the face and tell it how you feel.

From,

The Editor

Dear Editor,

I have been reading Gesundheit magazine and have enjoyed every issue. I must

say life is hard and annoying. I try not to let it get to me or bother me, but the fact that

this generation has become so hostile really does bother me. It's hard to find people

who aren't fake, and my trust keeps shattering. Sometimes I go outside on walks, to

calm my nerves down. It seldom works. I listen to my favorite music, which also

seldom works. I hang around my restricted amount of trusted friends, which usually

works.

What I want to know is, has our generation really become so incurable? How do

you deal with constant drama that keeps engulfing you? How do you prevent

something that you really want to avoid, and yet it still creeps around you?

As the school year goes by, there is only one thing on each student’s mind, homework. Due to the overwhelming amount of homework assigned by teachers, it forbids students to relax. Students are tormented on a daily basis, unable to find a way out. If excessive amounts of time is spent on homework, students do not get enough sleep, causing more harm than good. Questions constantly emerge as students ponder on the necessity of homework. “Is homework really necessary?” “Why do we get assigned so much homework?” “Do teachers realize that homework is the major cause of our never-ending stress?” How exactly does homework effect the daily lives of teenagers? A vast amount of homework assigned affects various aspects to a teenagers’ body. One effect of teenager spending too much time on homework is that the amount of physical activity is reduced. Studies show that physical activity not only reduces obesity, but also increases the academic performance of students. However, the excessive amounts of homework prevent teenagers from enhancing their performance. Students are not given enough time to engage in

exercise and physical activities, thus making them unable to focus in class or advance their intellectual performance. Another major effect of excessive homework is lack of sleep, students get from staying up late to finish their homework. Studies have shown that sleep is associated significantly with the academic activity of a student. It is shown that chronic sleep causes an increase in the body’s production of stress hormones, as well as causing depression. Sleep loss weakens the immune system of one’s body, making it difficult to concentrate. Surveys have shown that 60% of high school students have reported signs of tiredness in daytime, and over 25% fall asleep in class at least once a week. The lack of sleep is often caused by the amount of assignments given to the students, resulting in fatigue during class. A third effect of homework is that it can interfere and cause harm to family relationships. Students often come home from school carrying a heavy load of homework needing to finish it by the next day. This gives minimal time to students to bond with their family members. Family relations are important especially in the lives of adolescent teenagers; however, the excessive amount of homework prevents teenagers from creating a strong family bond. The fourth and most important, severe and common effect of homework on teenagers is stress and anxiety. Students feel stressed and anxious constantly because of the continuously assigned work. Teenagers feel pressure, from the need to finish assignments on time. However, with the excessive amount of homework assigned, students often are

rushed and are unable to finish all assignments until midnight or later. This causes students to build up more stress hormones, as mentioned above, and possibly enter depression. With the the four major problems and the other numerous problems occurring as a result of the excessive homework load, teenagers are unable to pull out easily from the stress building up consistently. Despite the severe conditions, there are many possible ways to ease the problems caused by the homework load. One possibility to reduce the load of homework, is to cooperate with the school in

reducing homework. School are most likely to cooperate if it can be

proved that students are assigned vast

amounts of homework that results

in the lack of sleep. However, if the school refuses to cooperate,

teenagers need to manage their time effectively. An effective way to do this is by setting rules at home. By setting time limits and rules, teenagers are able to focus on their work instead of spending a lot of their time procrastinating. Although the cooperation of parents and teachers are helpful, the most important factor is the cooperation of the student themselves. Students need to be willing to cooperate and focus on working in order to ease the problems caused by excessive amounts of homework assignments.

HOMEWORK STRESS: Effects of Homework on Teenagers

Homework is BAD?! As homework loads get bigger and bigger. Students should prepare themselves and manage their time wisely so they are able to get more sleep of about 8~9 hours a night.

There are many things herbs can do to improve your health. In contrast to taking pills and prescribed medicine from the doctor, herbal medicines provides a more natural and direct cure. An herb contains therapeutic, flavorful, and olfactory properties. Herbs can be found almost everywhere, and are used differently in various cultures. There many types of herbs, each used to acquire different kinds of merits for our bodies. In this article, you'll learn about 3 types of herbs that are known to be very beneficial for your health.

One of the most well known herbs is the Chamomile plant. Chamomile is a European

plant and is in the daisy family with flowers that have yellow or white petals. People can consume Chamomile as tea, vapor, and salve. A salve made of Chamomile is good for healing wounds and are known to have muscle relaxants, anti-spasmodic

effects. It is highly recommended for people who suffer

from insomnia,

and is a panacea to it if regularly

drunk as tea every

night. Chamomile is

also good for people with a cold, or have asthma because

the fumes from the herb assuage the effects of cold. Chamomile may be applied as a skin cream, or can be directly ingested.

Most of you would just think of garlic as some tasty root to spread on your toast (as Garlic Toast), but it’s also an herb used mainly to strengthen the immune system. Garlic helps treat diseases, especially respiratory infections such as bronchitis. Garlic is also a ‘wonder-drug’ to those with high-cholesterol levels, since it lowers the levels of Low-Density Lipoprotein (unhealthy cholesterol). Researches proves us that consumption of Garlic lowers the blood pressure in those who have high blood-pressure by 7~8%, and same with those who have a lower blood-pressure, Garlic returns the blood pressure back to normal.

Turmeric is often unheard of, but recently it has started becoming popular due to it’s health benefits. This Indian herb can go from reviving one’s lost appetite to relieving headaches. Turmeric is also often used for it’s antiseptic properties while it also helps alleviate sunburns. However, a one-time use doesn’t help much, a regular application of a turmeric paste made of turmeric powder and lemon juice on skin definitely adds glow to skin, as well as a cure for sunburns.

Various herbs have merits which are latent, and it is important to discover them. Who knows what kinds of diseases herbs can cure? Herbs add a healthy glow to everyone’s lives, but one must be careful when using herbs. People need to be cautious and aware to the fact that at times, herbs do have side-effects. When experimenting with herbal remedies, research is needed to stay safe and avoid problems.

The secret behind green tea. ‘Ryokucha’ and many its health benefits.Green tea, or 'Ryokucha' is a popular drink in

Japan and in many parts of China. The consumption of green tea is spreading around the world as people learn about the healthy benefits of green tea. Green tea has a unique taste that takes some time to adapt to. However, when one gets accustomed to green tea, they’re usually able to consume it comfortably without sugar. Green tea is a natural drink that goes through minimal processing and does not require fermentation like Oolong or Black Tea. Additionally, due to its minimal processing, green tea conserves its nutrients and maintains its health merits.

Green tea is known for it’s slightly bitter flavor caused by antioxidants called catechins contained in the tea. Catechins are able to scout for the factors that damage our DNA and strengthen the consumer’s immune system. There is a specific type of catechin called epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) that can be acquired in high amounts from green tea. Antioxidants help make the body immune to many kinds of diseases since they neutralize the harmful particles that enter your body.

There are also many merits from just drinking green tea itself. If one were to regularly drink green tea, their health would improve on many levels. It improves metabolism, which is good news to those who aim for weight loss. It also eradicates an appreciable amount of LDL(Low-Density Lipoprotein) also known as bad cholesterol in the human body. Green tea is also enriched with high levels of Vitamins B,C, and E. Vitamin B is vital to boosting energy levels,

and the specific vitamin that you’d find in green tea is Thiamine. Vitamin C is effective in making your skin look healthy. Also found in Green Tea, Vitamin E is essential for aiding the immune system, thus making green tea helpful in fighting diseases.! As mentioned previously, green tea is associated with numerous health benefits. Despite all of its noteworthy effects, the most prominent merit of green tea is that it inhibits cancer. Researchers at Purdue University discovered that EGCG, a type of

catechin (mentioned specifically above), prevents the growth of and kills cancer cells without

damaging the healthy tissue. Compared to other types of tea, green tea has a conspicuous difference in its effect on cancer cells. Studies have shown that green tea is approximately ten times more potent in killing

cancer cells than other teas.! More benefits of green tea are still yet to

be revealed. As people learn about the many health benefits of green tea, they are more motivated to take a chance in drinking it. When purchasing green tea, it’s important to make sure the its quality is good. If you are trying green tea for the first time and start off with a low quality green tea company, it is highly possible that you will be unsatisfied by the taste and not want to have more. It is proven that actual green tea leaves or tea bags are healthier than powdered ones since powdered tea is produced with more processing. Another factor that makes green tea taste bad is the temperature in which it is brewed. With these factors in mind, the consumption of green tea is highly recommended to those who are seeking better health.

We, the members of the Gesundheit Magazine, interviewed Mr. Jeff Mehring who is presently studying at Pepperdine University in getting his Doctorate Degree in Technology and Education of the Brain. Below we will be listing some questions and answers that were asked during the interview that can possibly help us improve and implement, the capability of our brain.

First: I would like to ask you at what time does

our brain work the best?

“Well, for teenagers the brain tends to work best at 10 or 11 in the morning. Whereas for adults, the brain works best in the early stages of the morning.”

Second: There are rumours that say that music helps you study. Is this true and if so what type of music helps?

“To answer this it depends as it may help for some people to listen

to music and it may restrain some people from getting to their full ability. Also the types of music that helps for learning is any type of music that emits alpha waves. So for example, classical music or baroque music helps out the most.”

Third: Why do we forget things? Why is it that we forget things?

“It is still not sure why we forget things but, if humans forget something for more than 24 hours, that memory is gone for

sure. You will not be able to remember it.”

Fourth: People always say that sleep is important, why is that?

“Sleep is very important for the human body because, in these precious hours of sleep, the brain does all the processing of the information that you received that day. It is said that you should have at least 9 hours of sleep so your brain can efficiently process the information and maximize the amount of information being processed.”

In our interview with Mr. Jeff Mehring, we will see what we should do to keep our brain healthy and how to make studying easier.
