International Delegates Visit at VANAMATI Nagpur in Post Event Tour of 5th Global Economic Summit (GES 2015) Date : 21 st November, 2015 (2:00PM - 3:30PM) World trade Centre Mumbai and All India Association Industries (AIAI) had jointly organized 5 th Global Economic Summit 2015 during November 19 to 21, 2015at Expo Centre, WTC in Mumbai. The theme for event this time was, “Enabling Food for All” . The Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises have also supported the initiative. The objectives of the programme were to address the key issues of food security and sustainable agriculture. As a part of the programme, discussion sessions, presentations, exhibitions, B2B meetings involving stakeholders were arranged. The Post Event Tour was organized during November 21 to 22, 2015 and the participating members visited VANAMATI Nagpur on November 21 to have a feel of various activities of the institute and to know about its future plans so as to explore opportunities for networking and collaborating in times to come for realizing the objective of “Enabling Food for All” . The Delegation comprised of foreign members from 7 countries such as Sweden, Italy, Fiji, Russia, Taipei, Rwanda and Bangladesh along with members from host country, India. The prominent among those present at the session in VANAMATI were His Excellency, High Commissioner of Republic of Fiji; Mr. Yogesh J. Karan, and His Excellency, High Commissioner of Rwanda; Mr. Ernest Rwamucyo. Mr. J. P. Ghate, Advisor, World Trade Centre Mumbai was also present. His Excellency, High Commissioner of Rwanda; Mr. Ernest Rwamucyo in his speech highlighted the need to, “make markets work for farmers” and declared that further training for officials from Rwanda, Africa may be organized in VANAMATI, Nagpur in coming months. His Excellency, High Commissioner of Republic of Fiji; Mr. Yogesh J. Karan appreciated the work being done in VANAMATI and the team chalked out avenues of joint action in future for international collaboration in training, capacity building in areas of Food Production, Agriculture Exports, Processing, Packaging, Value Addition, etc… Mr. N. Nawin Sona, IAS, Director General of VANAMATI has initially made a brief presentation of the institute and shared his views on future plans of the institute with emphasis on possibilities of networking and collaboration with similar institutions, organizations operational in the countries of visiting delegates. He stressed the importance of collaborative efforts by institutions and organizations and ‘working together’ for a stated cause to eradicate extreme hunger and poverty. Mr. Ravindra Manohare, Deputy Director, Agriculture from divisional office Nagpur has also made a presentation at the meet; throwing light on the current status and future prospects in agriculture field in this region. Members have interacted with the speakers and other resource persons who were also present at the programme. Mr. Milind Tare, Programme Coordinator of VANAMATI was the facilitator for the event whereas Mr. P. N. Raut, Public Relations Officer of VANAMATI, has proposed vote of thanks. Various officials from the department, leading institutions and all officers & staff members of VANAMATI includingMr. Anil More, Regional Manager MAIDC, Mr. Panwar from NHB, Mr. Gawale from MSAMB, Dr. Dineshkumar& Dr. Hecheche from Central Citrus Research Institute, Mr. Milind Lad, Mr. Wardekar, Mrs. Sima Mundle, Mrs. Urmila Shende and Mr. V. K. Dorlikar all from VANAMATI were present at the programme.
