Ford 1. besides dealing with the fallout from Watergate, Ford faced tough economic problems which were exasperated by the results of large Democratic gains in the 1974 midterm elections (43 + in the House & 3 + Senate)

2. Ford vetoed more bills than any other president as he tried to curb inflation; most were social welfare bills (66 total but many were overridden)

he issued WIN buttons to try and to motivate the nation in whipping inflation now Ford pushed for tax cuts and spending cuts; he got only the former and the nation went into a deeper recessionFailed to improve economy- consumer demand dropped and unemployment skyrocketed.
