Thursday - Kindergarten 2020 Orientation/Graduation and Parent Info session

Year 6 Leadership Speeches

On Thursday of Week 6, our aspirational leaders for 2020 delivered their speeches to the school. They all did a wonderful job in articulating why they would want to be leaders of our great school and I know that the students and staff will have a difficult time making their decision. Congratulations to all these students for their outstanding efforts in preparing well thought out speeches and your bravery in delivering them. Little Juddies Farmer Fundraiser Our school was overwhelmed with how well our students and their families participated in our Little Juddies Fundraiser. Not only did our students and teachers look the part in their farmer wear but more importantly, the donations we received of non-perishable food items was amazing. These items will be delivered by Little Juddies to rural communities and their families who have been badly affected by this terrible drought. Thank you everybody! Kindergarten Orientation Next Thursday we will hold our final Kindergarten Orientation. This will be a special one as we will hold a Literacy and Numeracy information session for our new parents and the session will conclude with a graduation ceremony with a morning tea being provide by our P&C. I know our Kindergarten teachers for 2020 are already looking forward to having all these wonderful new students in their classrooms next year. If you would like more information on Kindergarten 2020, please don’t hesitate to enquire through the office. P&C Meeting Our next P&C meeting is Wednesday 4th December at 6:30 pm in the library. The full agenda is included in this newsletter. I know that the P&C executive would ideally like someone to fill the vacant secretary and fundraiser coordinator position before the end of the year. If one of these positions is of interest to you, please contact Sue Gardner at [email protected] or leave a message for her at the office. Have a great fortnight, Nathan Forbes Principal

Message from 5/6B & 5/6Q

This term, Stage 3 have been revisiting imaginative text in our writing. In particular, we have focussed on including imagery and figurative language to write descriptive paragraphs about setting.

The human-filled buildings were towering lightbulbs that illuminated the moonlit sky. Walls of mirrored glass watched down over the city streets like animals looking over their prey. The city streets were filled with cars that hissed and honked at each other. By Malakai Newstead

The gloomy, dull forbidden castle was towering over everything that stood before it. The vibrant moon was as illuminated as a bright light. The hue-less crow flew over the tower, petrified by the deathly screams. The rickety-rails creaked as the wind blew. By Jasmine Davey

Burnt bushes and whistling wind surrounded the old, rusty beast. As time blew by, animals scattered from beneath the shed while twisted twigs dropped swiftly from the charred trees; the stench of death lingered around like leaves dancing in the wild wind. By Essence Alo

The gloomy, mystical night was so still and quiet you could hear a pin drop. A broken, beaten-up staircase led to a haunted house. The house had broken windows, unstable doors and was as black as a cat’s fur. The scream of crows was deafening and the smell of half-eaten birds was enough to make you puke. By Taliyah Hoad

The illuminated moon lit up the dark of the night. A depressing silence spread through the trees like a cancer. A crow screamed with a thunderous flap overhead, breaking the dead silence. An unstable pathway stretched up the forever-extending mountainside, leading to a ghastly silhouette of the one thousand year old tower. By Zac Munro

School Drop Off and Pick Up Times This year we have seen a significant increase in the number of parents arriving late to pick their child up from school. Please remember that school finishes at 2:57pm and students should be collected from school at a designated pick up point. Please give notice before 2.45 to the office if you may be late to collect your children to make sure their teachers are given the message in plenty of time. Also in the mornings students that arrive before 8.30am will be unsupervised as there are no teachers on grounds duty before 8.30am. Please note student supervision times are 8.30am to 3.00pm .

Spare Clothes Unfortunately we do not have spare clothes at school, so we kindly ask parent/carers to have a spare set of clothes in their child’s bag, should you believe they may need a spare set.
