INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS AT MUSM

Family Medicine Accelerated Track ProgramThe Accelerated Track in Family Medicine (ACT-FM) program (1 of only 2 in the nation) allows for students interested in a career in Family Medicine the opportunity to complete their medical school coursework in an accelerated 3 year program of study. Currently offered in Savannah this program also gives preference for residency slots at our partner hospital-Memorial University Medical Center.

Rural Training Track Residency ProgramSandersville, Georgia

The “rural training track” model is designed to give residents a broad, procedurally-based, hands-on experience in rural family medicine during residency.

MUSM OPPORTUNITIES

• Expansion of the Accelerated Track Curriculum to other MUSM campuses and core specialties of internal medicine, pediatrics, and obstetrics-gynecology

• Full development of the rural training track residency program in Sandersville as a pilot for future expansion into other rural communities.

"When you are a doctor in a small town, you're a doctor first…. I personally think it is an absolute privilege to be in a small town. I don't think you can have a more demanding job than that of being a small-town

doctor. But I really don't think you can have a better one!"
