GeoPump™
How it worksThe GeoPump™ is operated by compressed air and features an internal float which automatically controls the pump itself and regulates the liquid level. No other liquid level control is required. The GeoPump™ only works and uses compressed air when it is full of liquid thus minimising and conserving energy.
Fill Cycle Pump starts to fillThe inlet non-return valve opens, allowing fluid to enter the pump.As the fluid level in the pump rises, the internal float rises to the top of its stroke. In this upper position, the float actuates a lever assembly to open the air inlet valve, and compressed air enters the pump chamber.Note: No air is used during the fill cycle.
Empty Cycle Pump starts to emptyThe air pressure within the pump chamber causes the fluid inlet valve to close. The fluid is then displaced from the pump chamber up through the discharge pipe.As the fluid level in the pump is lowered the float actuates the lever to close the air supply and open the air exhaust valve. A new cycle begins.
Pumping CapacityAs liquid enters the GeoPump™ under gravity and exits under the pressure of compressed air the performance of the GeoPump™ is dependent on several factors, including:• Depth of liquid above pump inlet (submergence)• Operating air pressure• Internal diameter of hoses • Total dynamic head
PressureThe pressure required will depend on the total dyn amic head of the system. It is recommended it be set at the calculated maximum air pressure plus 1 bar.
VolumeThe amount of air required depends on volume of liquid being pumped. This is determined by the total dynamic head of the system. If the liquid level above the pump inlet is reduced the pump will fill slower and therefore flow be reduced. Air requirement will also be reduced. To size the correct compressor for any installation it is recommended that it be sized for the maximum air requirement.Should the flow be reduced due to drawdown within the well then the actual air requirement will decrease which will save on energy or allow additional pumps to be added to the same compressor.
