II. Course Outline A. Aims:
1. To help students acquire the fundamental geographical knowledge and concepts.
2. To help students develop specific geographical skills as well as general life skills.
3. To provide sound geographical background knowledge, which is useful to them in
society and help them to further study.
4. To equip students an analytical mind to inquire the problems and issues in both local
and global perspectives and to seek solutions.
5. To help students learn how to acquire knowledge independently.
6. To arouse and sustain students’ interest in studying Geography.
7. To develop values and attitudes which promote cooperation and understanding among
the peoples of the earth and cultivate a sense of belonging to our society and nation.
8. To develop awareness of the need for maintenance of a sustainable environment.
NOTE: Map reading should be included in the multiple-choice questions or integrated to the
structured questions/DBQs wherever appropriate.
