• Changing from the BA to the BS may get you a more marketable degree but also requires more coursework.
• Geography majors need at least 8 credits of Geography at the 400-level not including Capstone.
• If you are doing the GIS sequence, try to finish before start of senior year.
• Do courses in the intended order (complete 101, 107, 108/208, 203, and 250 before Capstone!).
• Remember you need 60 upper-division credits for your university degree.
• Be careful when interpreting “Degree units taken …. Degree units needed” at the top of Academic Requirements report

ScholarshipsBrooks‐Shaw Award: typically 1-2 scholarships of up to $1500 each are awarded annually.
Criteria:
•Must be a declared Geography major
•Award is merit‐based
•Must enroll for fall 2018 classes
•Preference will be given to students who plan to pursue graduate work in Geography

ScholarshipsHultquist Distinguished Service Award: typically 1‐2 scholarships of up to $500 each are awarded annually.

• Must be a declared Geography major or CERM graduate student

• Must demonstrate leadership in Geography Club, CERMA, or Gamma Theta Upsilon, and/or service to the Geography Department, REM program or the Ellensburg community through volunteer activities

How to apply: • Write a 1-2 page essay that includes the following:
• Clearly state in the essay the award(s) for which you are applying.
• Describe in general what made you declare your Geography major and what you plan to do with your degree –or- why you joined the CERM program and what you plan to do with you degree.
• Describe specifically why you should be awarded the scholarship(s) for which you are applying and how you satisfy the specific criteria.
• Return to a digital copy to Dr. Megan Walsh at [email protected] or place a hard copy in her mailbox in Dean 301.
