Geoffrey Chaucer (1340? – 1400)
El mejor escritor inglés de la época medieval.
Conocedor de la lengua francesa y de la literatura cortesana francesa.
Esa influencia es bien visible en Libro de la duquesa(Book of the Duchesse), su primera obra.
Viajó a Italia y conoció la obra de los grandes italianos delTrecento: Dante, Petarca y Boccaccio.
La influencia italiana se ve en sus poemas La casa de la Fama (The House of Fame) y El parlamento de las aves (The Parlement of Fowls).
También hay influencia italiana en Troilo y Crésida (Troilus and Criseyde) y en La leyenda de las mujeres virtuosas (The Legende of Good Women)
