GEESIS 28 COMMETARY WRITTEN AND EDITED BY GLENN PEASE 1 So Isaac called for Jacob and blessed [1 ] him and commanded him: "Do not marry a Canaanite woman. His name means "surplanter", one who takes the place of another through force or plotting (Gen. 27:35-36). 1. Barnes, “Gen_28:1-5 Isaac has now become alive to the real destiny of Jacob. He therefore calls for him to bless him, and give him a command. The command is to take a wife, not from Kenaan, but from the kindred of his parents.
