Introduction
The boiler design has been perfected over 58 years of experience burning all kinds of biomass fuels.
Straw and Miscanthus are fuels that have a low ash melting point. Highly specialised systems are required to reliably shred, deliver and burn baled straw fuels
Design Features
BOILER CONSTRUCTIONThe combustion chamber is reinforced with high grade stainless steel.
WATER COOLED GRATEThe unique water cooled moving grate design moves ash down the grate, prevents clinker build up and ensure complete fuel combustion.
The movement of each grate section is individually controlled to allow a wide range of fuels to be burnt. Every grate section is cooled via 5 forced circulation water pipes, this ensures there are no hot spots. This level of cooling is possible because the grate sections remain stationary while hydraulically actuated plates slide out from underneath (unlike more traditional systems where the actual grate bars move, as such only every other grate bar can be water cooled).
LARGE VOLUME COMBUSTION CHAMBERThe large volume of the combustion chamber and heat exchanger results in lower grate temperatures avoiding clinker and improving the quality of the combustion.
WATER COOLED COMBUSTION ZONEControlling the flue gas temperature is crucial to avoid ash adhesion to the walls of the heat exchanger and clinker formation on the grate (a common issue with straw burning).
Justsen boilers are fitted with water cooling throughout the entire boiler, including the sides and underneath the grate. This allows precise control of combustion temperatures in key areas, preventing build-up of slag or clinker. This allows continued uninterrupted operation at high heat load even with poor quality / high ash fuels prone to clinkering.
VERTICAL HEAT EXCHANGERSpecifically design to increase efficiency by lowering flue gas temperatures and minimising cleaning requirements.
COMPRESSED AIR TUBE CLEANINGThe cleaning system uses compressed air to remove ash and dust from the heat exchanger and sensors, this reduced the frequency of manual cleaning and helps maintain efficiency.
STRAW CUTTER/BAIL STRING REMOVALAutomated bale loading and string removal, can be fitted to supply the low speed straw cutter.
The straw cutter operates at low rpm, this eliminates the risk of sparks and reduces noise and dust. Motors are inverter driven allowing precise speed, power and directional control, reducing electrical usage and mechanical wear.
MULTI CYCLONE/BAG FILTER/SCRUBBERFiltration is specified during the design process according to the emissions target.
Justsen works closely with filtration manufacturers to design and manufacture effective and reliable filtration systems.
All straw boilers are fitted with exhaust gas filtration as standard, complying with RHI emissions regulations.
