Connections

Two new types of shaft hub connections can be calculated along text book methods (Hännchen-Decker).

The transmittable torque for a given configuration or the resulting safety factor can be calculated.

Calculation has been updated compared to previous release

Seeger rings

The strength calculation for snap rings (Seeger rings) is added. The calculation works for rings in bores or on shafts under axial load (e.g. to secure a roller bearing on a shaft)

Interference fit

The calculation is always based on a shaft and a hub. However, the hub may or may not have an external pressure applied. Said pressre may be due to further hubs mounted.

The arrangement can be defined in a table. First entry is the shaft, second entry is the hub. Additional entries can be added to find the resulting pressure on the hub.

Shafts

Calculation of bearing friction is added for SKF 2004 method (module specific settings)

E-DIN743 (2008) has been added for the strength rating

Stength rating can be switched off (e.g. if only bearing calculation should be run) (Tab „Strength“)

Life of shaft can be calculated (previously, life was given and safety factor would result, now, the calculation also runs in reverse mode)

Page 15: GENERAL, WHAT‘S NEW Below, general changes are … · the VDI2230 guideline. h.dinner@EES-KISSsoft.ch KISSsoft Release 03-2012 Slide13 2012-04-10 SHAFTS, WHAT‘S NEW Below, new

Shaft

Reporting for the shaft can be switched on and off to shorten the report

A new option on how to consider how a gear on a shaft stiffens the shaft

The gears are not considered in terms of stiffnes or mass

Gears are not considered in terms of stiffness but in terms of mass (e.g. in case gear is mounted on the shaft with loose interference fit

Shaft diameter is increased to gear pitch diameter, increasing the shaft mass and the shaft stiffness accordingly (e.g. in case of pinion shaft)

Shaft diameter is increased somewhat (new diameter as per ISO6336) to consider stiffening effect in case of e.g. gearwheel mounted on shaft by means of key and interference fit. Gear mass is considered.

Helical gears (tabs)

The arrangement of the tabs is now more consistent for all helical gear modules (single gear, rack and pinion, gear pair, chains of gears, planetary set). The same principle is also used in bevel/hypoid gears (except that there, there is one more tab on manufacturing).

Note that the option „Geometry only“ does no longer exist in the list of the strength rating methods in tab „Rating“

gear. The application factor and the required lifetime are to be entered as in previous releases of KISSsoft. However, there are a few new options (for load spectrum, see next slides)

Define the driving gear and the working flank, this information will be used in the tooth contact analysis and KHbeta calculation.

Helical gears, KHbeta, shaft misalignement

In case that KHbeta is calculated according to ISO6336-1 Appendix E, then, the misalignement of the gear axis and the torsional wind up of the gears is considered in the calculations and needs to be defined accordingly. In principle, there are three methods to define the gear misalignement and the torsional wind up

Data (gear misalignement and torsional wind up) is calculated using KISSsoft shaft calculation, considering shaft bending and torsion, bearing deformation, bearing misalignement and housing deformation

Data (gear misalignement and torsional wind up) is entered directly by the user

Gear misalignement is calculated using KISSsoft shaft calculation, torsional wind up is entered directly by the user
