Idiot’s Kitchen Recipe – General Tso’s Chicken (Thighs) Recipe from www.idiotskitchen.com Ingredients: 8 chicken thighs (either bonein or boneless), skin removed ½ cup soy sauce or tamari for GF (low sodium recommended) ¼ cup honey 1 Tablespoon chili garlic sauce 1 teaspoon sesame oil 2 teaspoons rice wine vinegar 1 orange, zested 1inch piece of fresh ginger, grated ¼ cup dry sherry 1 Tablespoon cornstarch Black Pepper 2 Tablespoons Olive Oil 12 green onion tops, thinly sliced Sesame seeds Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. In a small bowl, combine ½ cup soy sauce with ¼ cup honey. Add 1 Tablespoon chili garlic sauce, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, and 2 teaspoons rice wine vinegar. Grate in a 1inch piece of peeled fresh ginger and the zest of 1 orange. In a separate small bowl, combine ¼ cup dry sherry and 1 Tablespoon cornstarch. Whisk until no lumps remain and then whisk the cornstarch mixture into the bowl of sauce. Microwave on high 12 minutes (stirring midway through) until thick and smooth. Remove the skins from 8 chicken thighs and season with black pepper. Heat 2 Tablespoons of olive oil in an oven safe, nonstick pan over medium high heat. Add the chicken and brown on both sides.
