General instructions for online interview: 1. Interview will start from 9 o’clock in the morning and will continue to 7 pm everyday with an hour break from 1pm – 2 pm. 2. Desktop or laptop computer or smart phone with good quality camera can be utilized for the interview. Make sure that your device is configured with good internet speed. 3. Check your slot in the interview schedule in the Chemistry Department website. 4. Each interview would typically be ~15-30 min long, thus you are suggested to be online at least an hour before your interview. 5. As we are handling a large number of applications, no extra time slot will be provided to you if you are not able to connect to us with in your designated time slot. 6. You have to be in an isolated room during the time of interview and once you are connected to the examiners, you have to show them through your device that nobody is present in that place. 7. During interviews via videoconferencing, candidates are not supposed to record the proceedings of the interview, or indulge in any malpractice during the course of the interview. In case violation of any of this is found at a later date, then it may lead to cancellation of the admission. Academic Units may however record the interview, if desired, using the videoconferencing software, for future record and reference, in case the Academic Unit decides to record the interview. 8. You should be prepared with blank paper and pen as examers might ask you to explain some mechanism or to derive some equations. 9. You will receive a link through your mail either at 8.30 am (for morning interview slots) or at 1.30 pm (for afternoon slots). You can appear in the interview by clicking on that link. 10. You will receive a phone call just before your interview to apprise you to click on the link or you might be instructed for some other process. (Please do not click the link until you get a phone call from a committee member) 11. A setup as shown in the picture below is suggested in case you are asked to write something on the paper. An arrangement like this will enable the interview committee to see you write on the paper in the absence of a board. (Note the mobile phone should be kept at a required height of about 6 inch by using a stack of books while running the Google Meet app through the rear camera)

If you are using a desktop/laptop, the link mailed to you will directly take you to the video chatting page (you may need to sign in with your Google account). If you are using a mobile, you need to download an app (Google Meet) from the Play/App store. Please enable your audio and video before entering the chatroom.
General information: For Organic Chemistry candidates: The questions from the following topics are going to be asked by the faculty at the time of interview.
Reference: (Organic Chemistry by Jonathan Clayden, Nick Greeves Stuart Warren, Second Edition) For Inorganic and Physical Chemistry candidates: No specific topics are suggested for the interview. The candidates can expect general questions from their subject.
