VCore™ is a revolutionary development in Breast Cancer Diagnosis.
VCore™ offers a less traumatic method of obtaining large, intact, diagnostic quality specimens,
in a simple, easy-to-use device. This “State-of-the-Art” breast biopsy instrument utilizes a patented, end-coil
harvesting mechanism, which encapsulates the specimen, then cuts and traps it in the cannula, thus
ensuring diagnostic specimens unimpaired by crush artifact and tissue fragmentation.
❙◗ Patented “end-coil” technology
provides large, intact specimens.
Higher tissue volumes allow for
greater cross-sections and more
accurate diagnoses.
❙◗ The integral safety eliminates
accidental firings.
❙◗ The light weight, ergonomic
design minimizes hand fatigue.
❙◗ Can be used with VMark®
Breast Biopsy Site Marker,
allowing permanent visualization
of the biopsy site.
❙◗ Numerically ordered centimeter
markings facilitate precise depth
placement of the needle.
❙◗ Can be used with Co-axial
Introducer Needles.

The VCore™ Needle Sequence
1. After appropriately preparing the biopsy site, the targetarea is located. Using standard technique, advance aV•Core Co-axial Introducer Needle proximal to thelesion. The needle stop is secured against the skin tostabilize positioning.
2. Remove the stylet from the Co-axial Introducer Needle, leaving the cannula in place.
3. To activate the instrument, pull the blue lever at theproximal end of the instrument until a click is felt.Slowly push the lever forward to engage the device. The instrument is now ready to biopsy.
4. Advance the V•Core stylet into position, proximal tothe breast lesion.
5. Firmly press the two blue firing triggers located onboth sides of the instrument. For safety purposes, both triggers must be actuated, either in sequence orsimultaneously.
6. Remove the device from the patient. Pull the cockinglever to expel the specimen. Slowly push the blue leverforward to re-engage the device. The instrument isnow in the cocked position and ready for anotherspecimen retrieval.

Needles and Accessories
Uniquely repositionable to achieve accurate placement.
Unique “J” curve wire design may be retracted and repositioned as often as necessary to achieve
accurate placement. Exclusive “J” curve and stabilizer design locks the needle and wire in place,
anchoring the system to prevent wire migration, while protecting against unguarded needle penetration
during breast compression and patient transport.
Homer Mammalok® Ultra
❙◗ Unique alloy wire greatly
reduces the risk of accidental
wire transection during surgical

❙◗ Wire is marked in three places:
I indicates wire at distal tip of
needle; II indicates side barb
deployment; and III indicates
distal barb deployment.
❙◗ Standard marking cannula on
wire, beginning 2.5cm from distal

the surgeon.
Hawkins™ II
Uniquely repositionable to achieve accurate placement.
Available in two wire choices: Flexstrand™, a 19-strand “cable”, for maximum flexibility with minimal
risk of transection, or a traditional hardwire, which minimizes “flex” during placement. Both wires offer a
patented side “barb” for temporary fixation during a confirming mammogram. The needle is easily repo-
sitioned, if necessary. The patented “barb” retention mechanism has been clinically proven to provide
superior anchoring strength.1,2

P.S.S. Prostate Seeding Needles
For use with free seeds and spacers.
The P.S.S. Prostate Seeding Sets are high quality, disposable needles
used to facilitate transperineal, radioactive seed implant procedures.
Each needle has an exceptionally sharp point for easy insertion, and an
echogenic tip for easy visualization under ultrasound guidance.
❙◗ Numerically ordered centimeter markings on the outer
cannula serve as reference points during needle manipulation.
❙◗ One-half centimeter wide marks on the inner stylet, one-half
centimeter apart, indicate the number of seeds in the needle
after loading, whether you use free seeds/spacers or
RAPID Strand™.
❙◗ Two needle styles are available; 5005 provides a more rigid
needle cannula and better “trackability”, 5006 is a more flexible
needle and provides better “steerability”.
❙◗ 5005 needles are compatible with the EXPRESS Seeding
Cartridge.
❙◗ Each needle has an echogenic tip for accurate placement
under ultrasound guidance.
RAPID Strand™ is a trademark of Medi-Physics, Inc., Amersham Healthcare.
Prostate Stabilization Needles
Improved radioactive implant distribution byimmobilizing the prostate gland duringtransperineal “seeding” procedures.
A unique, patented device designed to prevent movement of the
prostate gland while either applicator-compatible or pre-loaded seeding
needles are being inserted. Immobilization is achieved by deploying a
side barb in the prostate tissue and securing a locking spring against
the proximal side of the needle template. The needles must be used in
sets of two for proper stabilization.
❙◗ Two-part hub design separates, locking the side barb in position.
Unlocking is accomplished by pushing the two-part hub back
together.
❙◗ The narrow side of the white, teardrop shaped hub indicates
the deployment position of the side barb and the orientation
of the needle point.
❙◗ The needle point is exceptionally sharp, resulting in easy
penetration of the perineum.
❙◗ Each needle has an echogenic tip, promoting accurate
