General Overview

The calculator application is a modified simulation of the real world HP-17BII calculator by Hewlett Packard.

Basically, The calculator works in the same way of the real one, nevertheless, more functionalities were added, some were modified and others deleted in order to have a calculator with the best user experience in the modern iOS devices.

Added and Modified Functionality:• Expanded 4 lines Display showing the entire history stack registers X,

Y, Z, and T.• Expanded Menu area to show all the menu functions at once avoiding

multipage menus when possible.• Operation Precedence Setting and status bar indicator. The operation

precedence change the way of calculations are performed in ALG mode. For example, 2 + 4 x 5 result in 22 instead of 30, because the “x” operation takes precedence before the “+” operation.

• Keyboard Direct Access to Menus, for “NUM”, “LOG”, “MATH”, “TRIG”, “HYP”, “CONV”, “TVM”, “%CHG”, “MRG%”, “CFLO”, “CURR”, “SUM”, “ICNV”, “UNIT” and “ANGL” menus.

• Black-Scholes Option Valuation Model calculation menu was added in the “FIN” menu.

• TIP% calculation menu added under the “BUS” menu to calculate the BILL-TIP%-TOTAL-SPLIT relation.

• CFLO and SUM List Editors was added to improve the creation and edition of cash flows and statistics lists.

• SOLVER Equations Editor was added to quickly enter formulas and order variables menu.

• Currency Exchange with Google finance On-Line rates for all world currencies.

• “DISP” and “Modes” keys were replaced by the “PREF” key were all the calculator settings can be adjusted in a single view.

• The “CONV” menu gathers all the conversions including Interest Conversions (“ICNV”), Angle Conversions (“ANGL”), Currency Conversions (“CURR”), Polar to Rectangular (“P-R”) conversion and Units conversions (“UNIT”).

• UNIT conversions with expanded and editable database.• Universal Constants with all the CODATA database.• ANGLE conversions for radians, gradians, decimal degrees, degree-

minute-second and slope percent units.• The MEM key shows all the Memory content instead of the available

memory bytes. This view also allows you to backup and restore the entire content of the calculator memory, including lists and solver equations.

• The [STO] and [RCL] with arithmetic operations (+, -, x, ÷ or ^) can be used to store or recall numbers in any Memory Register or Menu Variable (Black or Blue menu button).

• New Scientific menu with “Complex Numbers”, “Probability” distributions, “Triangle Solution”, “Spherical Triangles” solutions, “Universal Constants” from CODATA and “Vectors 3D”.

Removed Functionality:• The Text and Appointments (“TEXT” and “APPT” menus) functionality

were completely removed since the iOS already includes apps to manage those functions in a better way (Calendar, Contacts & Notes).

• The “PRINTER” and “PRNT” commands were removed and AirPrint functionality was added in some views where it matters.

• At the moment, the calculator is in english language only.

When “ON”, the operations precendence is “^”, “x” or “÷” and “+” or “-”. For example, when ”ON”, 2 + 4 x 5 is equal to 22; if OFF, 2 + 4 x 5 is equal to 30.
