HEALTH BENEFITS In today’s world, stress has become an increasing enigma. Because present-day jobs are generally less physically demanding, we run the risk of being overweight, accumulating toxic materials in organs under the skin. Far Infrared radiant heat has the ability to penetrate, refract, radiate and reflect. Our bodies absorb FAR Infrared (FIR) because of its deep penetrating ability, when this happens it transforms light energy promoting many benefits, these include;

SWEAT THERAPYFIR rays penetrate just below the skin and promote a deeper more beneficial cleans through our bodies natural cleansing sweat process.

RELIEVE MUSCULAR STRESSThe most immediate and noticeable effect is the tremendous relaxation; it alone can have a profound impact on your health. Just 15 - 20 minutes in our sauna may reduce muscular stress, tension and fatigue.

RELAX AND TONEIt is the deep penetrating ability of FAR INFRARED radiant heat that aids our bodies to naturally relax and tone.

SKIN BENEFITSImproves skin, tone, texture and colour. Perspiration allows for deep cleansing, eliminating impurities and removal of dead skin cells, leaving the skin feeling soft and glowing.

The soft radiant heat created by our saunas has been likened to the comforting warmth felt being behind a glass window on an autumn afternoon, and unlike the stifling heat of conventional saunas, our saunas allow for fresh air to circulate the interior, without compromising the effectiveness of the unit.

This natural energy, created by the carbon fibre panels, covers your body with far infrared light, normally gained by exposure to the sun. This form of light has been fundamental to all living things.

FAR INFRARED SAUNAS ARE FANTASTIC

USING YOUR SAUNA USAGE SUGGESTIONSWhen using the Healthstart® Ultra Far Infrared Sauna, it is strongly recommended that towels be put across the seat and floor to prevent staining of the timber as a result of sweat. It is also recommended that a loose towel be taken in to absorb any sweat from the face or arms.

Preheat the unit before getting into the sauna for the best sauna experience. Those who are more sensitive to heat may be more relaxed if sitting in the unit as it heats up.

AIR VENTWhen using the sauna, over time the air will become humid as the sweat dissipates into the sauna. If at any time you feel overwhelmed by humid air, or simply prefer fresher air in the sauna, simply slide the air vent to the open position to allow fresh air to circulate in the sauna.

HEATER PANELSWhen using the sauna, the heater panels will get quite hot. Be careful as to not lean on or touch the heaters for an extended period of time. For a more comfortable sauna experience, backrests can be purchased as an optional extra to allow you to lean up against the heaters without touching them. To purchase backrests, contact Healthstart Life Products on 1800 021 069.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCEThe heater panels and cabinetry may acquire a small amount of staining over time as a result of sweat in the sauna. It is recommended that the sauna be cleaned regularly as to prevent any staining. With the sauna turned off, wipe down the internal cabinetry and heater panels with a damp cloth, using a mild solution with hand soap if required. Do not use harsh abrasives to clean the interior of the Healthstart® Ultra Far-Infrared Sauna.

CHANGING INTERIOR LIGHT GLOBESTo change interior light globes, or colour light therapy modules, simply grasp the metal retaining clip, and withdraw the clip and the light globe. Remove the light globe assembly from the wiring connector, and replace.

General RulesAlways – Drink plenty of water before, during and after every sauna session. Initially - Start using the sauna on medium heat for 20 minute sessions. With each sauna session, increase the heat and lengthen your session until you can comfortably tolerate the high range temperatures for sessions of 30 to 45 minutes on a daily basis. Long time sauna devotees will usually aim for a daily 45 to 60 minute session on full heat. Don’t rush it, it may take months to get to this point.

For general wellbeing, we suggest a minimum of 3-4 sessions per week of 30 to 45 minutes duration on full heat. Aged, unwell, or apprehensive persons should build up their sauna regime at a slower pace, perhaps starting with 15 minute sessions using low to medium heat 2-3 times per week. The maximum sauna session for any fit and healthy individual should be 45 to 60 minutes per day.

Generally - Wear light/minimal clothing during your sauna sessions. Your body temperature should not increase more than 4°C, and your pulse rate should not be more than plus 50% of your resting pulse rate. Do not be concerned, if initially, your body does not sweat readily. Different people have different tolerances to heat, but over time, your body will acclimatise and sweating becomes easier.

The Far Infrared wavelength will penetrate 3 or 4cm into the body, generally enabling chemicals and other toxins to come directly out of subcutaneous fat storage sites in your sweat. Relaxing in the sauna will increase your sweat rate and improve your wellbeing. Good posture and deep slow breathing are helpful, as are sound and light therapy. Aromatherapy is also very effective during your sauna session, and a few drops of your favourite essential oil on your towel will suffice.

Your Healthstart sauna will reach the desired heat level in 5 to 10 minutes. After your sauna session, take a warm or tepid shower (try to avoid the use of soap), sit, and relax for 10 minutes with a glass of water. Never - Embark upon any health program without seeking your Doctor’s advice. Medical input is particularly important for those who are pregnant, breast feeding, have metal parts in their bodies, have high blood pressure, or are taking medications. Do not take electrical devices (such as mobile phones) into the sauna. Do not smoke in the sauna. You should avoid heavy meals within two hours of a sauna session and never use the sauna if intoxicated by alcohol or any other substance. Alcohol and other intoxicating substances are not a good mix with your sauna.

Never use the sauna without first hydrating your body with 1 or 2 glasses of water, and it is best to finish the session in the same manner. Do not remain in the sauna if you experience headache, nausea, fast or irregular heart rate, dizziness, disorientation, shortness of breath, or muscle cramps and spasms. Generally, be alert to your bodies signs, especially to dry and or cold skin, which could indicate heat stroke. If you suspect heat stroke, drink plenty of water with 2-3 teaspoons of Tri-Salts added before seeking medical attention.
