II Year B.Tech., Mech. Engg., students developed a mobile app ‘GISTN’ which links the

college website to the mobile networks and it was launched on 24th Sept. 2015 for usage

by students and staff.

2017.

Mr. P. Augustin, Asst. Director, MERC Academy, Chennai, delivered a guest lecture on

“Employment Opportunities in Thermal Power Plant” to the B.Tech III & IV year

Mechanical Engineering students of GIST on 20th Jan 2017.

Mr. P. Jaya Kumar Senior Engineer in Pipe Line Industry, Muscat City delivered a guest

lecture on “Awareness on Industrial Projects Construction” to the B.Tech III Year

Mechanical Engineering students of GIST on 6th Feb 2017.

An awareness programme on English communication skills was organized under the

auspices of Sri Ramakrishna math at GIST on 21.07.2017 in connection with Swamy

Vivekananda 154 jayanthi celebrations, for the I B.Tech students of all branches. The

resource person and personality development trainer Mr. R.O.L Sarma emphasized the

need to learn fluent English speaking ability to overcome the complex challenges in the

prevailing global scenario. He interacted with the students offering clarifications to

several doubts.

Sports and Games

were selected for South - Zone KABBADI competitions Organized at VELTECH

UNIVERSITY CHENNAI on 3rd November 2016.

K.MANOJ KUMAR (II-CIV) was selected for South zone Chess organized at

VELTECH UNIVERSITYCHENNAI on 12-10-2016 to 14-10-2016

SK.SHOYAB (IV-CIV) selected for South zone volley ball organized at Kerala on 02-

12-2016.

Students selected in state level

T.Pradipal II DCE secured first place in district level long jump and selected for State

level meet.

Sk. Abdul Muzeeb II DCE secured first place in 400mts running at District level and

selected for state level.

T.Pradipal II DCE secured 3rd Place in Long Jump at state level competitions held at

Gudlavalleru, Krishna from 20th December to 22nd December 2016.

NSS & Community Service Activities

Mass tree plantation programme was held at Buchi ReddyPalem on 19-07-2016 in

association with Andhra Pragathi Grameena Bank. On this auspicious day nearly 4000

samplings were distributed to the villagers.

A work shop on Handicrafts was conducted by NSS unit of GIST in association with

“Pidilite” Company for three weekends from 09-07-2016 to 30-07-2016.

NSS Programme Officer Mr. M. Mahesh Kumar was attended TOT programme on

“social Harmony, National Unity & Human Rights” for N.S.S Functionaries of southern

states from 27th to 31st July 2016 held at University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore.

An anti-ragging oath was done by senior NSS volunteers of GIST on 04-08-2016.

A mass tree plantation programme VANAM MANAM initiated by state government was

held at GIST on 06-08-2016. Nearly 300 samplings were planted by the students &

faculty.

On the occasion of Krishna Pushkaram Gist NSS unit conducted various events like Tree

plantation, Swatchh Bharath, and conducted various competitions for students like Essay

Writing, Painting and elocution.

The central government sponsored Independence Day week celebrations on behalf of

AZADI-70 came to a close at GIST on 23rd August 2016. As a part of the initiative,

various events were organized from August 9th to August 23rd 2016, at the institution like

Tree-plantation, patriotic songs, poetry contest, Essay Writing, Elocution were

conducted. “All the 2500 students of the college, faculty and Management

representatives, technical and administrative staff lent their voice in chorus to render

National Anthem. 500 number of I year engineering students formed a huge human India

map on the campus”.

The N.S.S. Unit of GIST, in collaboration with Lions Club Nellore, Pinakini, , conducted

a Mega Voluntary blood donation camp in connection with Engineers Day on 15th

September 2016, and donated 214 units of blood to the Red Cross Blood Bank.

A seasonal disease rally was conducted by Gist NSS unit on 23-09-2016 at Gangavaram

village to create the awareness on the seasonal diseases like dengue, malaria due to

mosquito.

Global Hand washing day was conducted at Gist on October 15th 2016 by NSS volunteers

and distributed soaps and Hand washes to all faculty members.

NSS Programme Officer Mr. M. Mahesh Kumar received best mentor award by Red

Cross blood bank Nellore on October 22nd 2016.

Gist NSS unit organized a one day programme on Our Glorious Scientific Tradition by

Sri Raghu Nandanji on 29-12-2016.

Gist NSS unit conducted Swatchh Bharath programme on 07-01-2017 at Gist campus.

Nellore District for University Level Youth Festival conducted at JNTUA held on 23-01-

Award By honorable Vice Chancellor of JNTUA at JNTUA at NSSPOs Meeting held at

JNTUA, Ananthapur on 27-01-2017.

R. Nikhil (IIECE) got Second prize in Solo Instrumental Competition at State Level

Youth Festival conducted by AdiKavi Nannayya University, Rajamahendravaram held on

23-01-2017.

General College activities

Mr. Ch. Veeranjaneyulu, as president of ‘Geethanjali Telugu Sabha’ conducted ‘Telugu

Language day’ in our colleges on 14th Sept, 2016 on the occasion of Telugu language day

by inviting ‘Dwisahasra Sabhasimha’ B. V. Narasimham, a Telugu poet and scholar as

chief guest and conducted various competitions for students on this occasion for the

promotion and awareness about Telugu language in the present generations and prizes

were distributed to the winners.

An Anti-Ragging Awareness Programme was organized at GIST on 24th August 2016,

for the 2nd year engineering students participating in the programme as the chief guest,

Smt. G. GEETHA, senior civil judge, Kovur, said that “Ragging is an evil and unlawful

practice imported from the west. Innumerable junior students were taking their lives

across university campuses in India, unable to endure the physical as well as mental

suffering resulting from this evil practice.” Another guest of honor, Mr. A.VENKATA

RAO, SI cautioned the students against resorting to ragging thus placing their future at

risk.

Honourable former president of India, “Bharath-Rathna”, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s

Birthday celebrations were held with gaiety and fervor on 15th October 2016, under the

auspices of GIST N.S.S. Unit.

IEEE Student Branch of GIST organizedan Ex-tempo on The Topic “Dream India” on

the occasion of 75th Birth Anniversary of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. Mr. Pradhyumna

Kumar of III-ECE & B. Muni Raja of III-EEE Secured first Place and Ms. P. Lakshmi

Manasa of III-ECE Secured Second in this contest.

IEEE Student Branch of GIST organized a Theme Writing Contest as a Part of National

Science Day.I. Vineela of IV-CSE, & Shaik Arshiya Tabassum of II-ECE, secured First

place, V. AdbhutaTeja II-ECE & S. Pravallika III-ECE, secured Second Place, B.Vamsi

Krishna of III-ECE & B. Murali Mohan Reddy of III-CSE secured Third place in this

contest.

Mr. Ch.Veeranjaneyulu Librarian has conducted library orientation classes to 1st year

students in our college on the availability of sources and services in the library and how

to use them in a proper way for the benefit of their academic and overall development.

An awareness programme was organised by Nellore based Ramakrishna sevasamithi at

GIST on 28th October 2016 on the 150th birthday of sister Niveditha for I year

engineering students. Dr. Mohanaraju, President, Ramakrishna sevasamithi highlighted

the humanitarian service rendered in India by sister niveditha who was an ardent disciple

of swami Vivekananda. He said that Niveditha was an infallible embodiment of

compassion, kindness and love. He urged the students to emulate Niveditha and help poor

and the sick imbibing her divine qualities.

National Youth week celeberations (Yuvamahostav – 2017) has been organized at

V.R. College, Nellore by district youth welfare officer in order to commemorate the birth

anniversary of Swamy Vivekananda from 20-01-17 to 22-01-17. About 250 students

from our college participated in diverse literary, culture, games & sports.

Organized a one day workshop on TRENDS IN MOBILE COMPUTING, INTERNET

OF THINGS AND CYBER PHYSICAL SYSTEMS on 13April 2016 in association with

Computer Society of India (CSI).The Chief Guest of the workshop Dr. L. M. PATNAIK,

honorary professor from IISC Bangalore, addressed enthusiastic knowledge edifying

participants on trends in Mobile computing which ever lead to the advancement in the

technological world.

C- DEBUGGING: AN ONLINE ASSESSMENT TEST ON C- PROGRAMMING for III

and IV year students was conducted in association with CSI, on 22 September 2016 to

explore the programming knowledge. Students participated actively in the event and

made a grand success.

A Webinar was organised in connection with SMART INDIA HACKATHON- 2017, the

greatest digital movement in the country with 36 hours nonstop digital programming

competition on 16 December 2016.

Live telecast of FIVE-DAY INDIAN SCIENCE CONGRESS SESSION on every day

basis was made from 03 to 07 January 2017.

Organized HACKATHON AND IDEATHON CONTEST-2017 in association with

Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) from 6 to 28 January

2017 which covered online training of 70 registered students on daily basis followed by

mock tests and final state level test.

Organized a Two-Week ISTE STTP on CMOS, MIXED SIGNAL AND RADIO

FREQUENCY VLSI DESIGN by National Machine on Education through ICT (MHRD,

Govt. Of India) from 30 January 2017 to 4 February 2017.

48 students from II CSE got certified in C TEST under IITB spoken tutorials, on 8

August 2016.

40 students from III CSE got certified in JAVA TEST under IITB spoken tutorials, on 9

August 2016.

33 students from VI CSE got certified in PHP AND MYSQL TEST under IITB spoken

tutorials, on 10 Aug 2016.

Conferences conducted

A National Conference titled NCATCSIT-16 on Advanced TRENDS IN COMPUTER

SCIENCE AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY was organized on a grand scale

under the joint auspices of Department of CSE in association with CSI of GIST on 8

October 2016.

Training and Placement activities

2 weeks technical training i.e. 12 days program was conducted as part of campus

recruitment training by Mr. Santhanu Sarkar on C & JAVA from 6th June to 18th June

2016.

2 weeks training program i.e. 12 days on Quantitative aptitude and Verbal ability was

conducted as part of campus recruitment training by Mr. Samba Raju & Mr. Sreenivasula

Reddy from 22nd June to 5th July 2016.

5 days Tech Mahindra Company specific training was conducted by Mission Ignite

Services, Hyderabad from 11th Sep to 16th Sep 2016. All the Tech Mahindra eligible

students appeared for the training program.

5 days Mphasis Company specific training was conducted by Mission Ignite Services,

Hyderabad from 28th Sep to 02nd Oct Sep 2016. All the Mphasis eligible students

appeared for the training program.

Two Final year CSE students Ms. Vineela & Ms. Vennela participated in TCS

CODEVITA SEASON V and cleared ROUND 1 which is a global programming contest

organized by IT major TATA CONSULTANCY SERVICES.

For the academic year 2016 – 2017 the first ON campus recruitment DAY 1 drive was

held by a leading IT giant TECH MAHINDRA, Pune on 16th Sep 2016. 17 students were

offered by Tech Mahindra with a package of 3.25 Lakhs per Annum.

Day 2 ON campus recruitment was held by another leading IT giant MPHASIS,

Bangalore on 3rd Oct 2016. 10 students were offered by Mphasis with a package of 2.50

Lakhs per annum.

Day 3 ON campus recruitment was held by Kirloskar Group Sister Concern SLK

software, Bangalore on 2nd Nov 2016. 5 candidates were offered with a package of 2.40

Lakhs per annum.

On campus recruitment drive was held by Excelencia Tech Consulting, Chennai on

16th Dec 2016. 5 students were offered with a package of 2.4 lakhs per annum.

Pool campus recruitments were organized at our campus by various companies namely

Comtec on 4th October 2016, Colors Software on 29th October 2016, Efftronics on

20th Dec 2016.

Students of GIST participated in various pool campus drives held at Vijayawada &

Nellore in various prestigious IT companies namely Financial Software Services on 26th

Oct 2016, Virtusa Polaris on 7th Jan, Kony Labs on 2nd Feb 2017.

Leading Automobile giant HYUNDAI MOTOR INDIA ENGINEERING visited GIST

campus on 24th January 2017. 23 students have cleared the online test and they are

going to face the further round on 14th Feb 2017 which is scheduled. Salary offered by

Hyundai is 3.50 Lakhs per annum.

A pool campus drive was organized for final year BSC/BCA students of Nellore district

in association with VikramaSimhapuri University, Nellore. 500 students were pooled

at GIST campus and out of which 54 students have cleared the first round.

Industry Institute Interaction

A motivation session was organised for final B.Tech Students on 16 July 2015 by Mr.

Sunesh, Manager Programming, QUALCOMM an MNC, Santiago, California, USA,

highlighting the important role played by computer and electronic engineers in their core

domain.

A one day Industrial Interaction was organized on 10 Oct 2015 on “Career Opportunities

in Core Engineering” by the distinguished dignitary Mr. G. Prasanth, Technical Trainer,

Technip Chennai.

A one day Industrial Interaction was organized on 31Oct 2015 on “Career Opportunities

in Core Engineering Domain” about the employment prospects and career development

opportunities for upcoming Electrical, Mechanical & Civil Engineering graduates, by Mr.

K.R.S.R. Krishna, Vice President Engineering Consultancy Services, Mr. R Pasupathi

Project Director Mr. V. Srinivasa Prasad, Project Manager, Mr. Suresh Babu, Department

of Mechanical Engineering, Mr. M. Madhavan, Department of Civil Engineering under

the auspices of the Chennai based “PetroFac Engineering Services India Pvt Ltd.”.

Industry visits

Final year CIVIL both B.Tech and Diploma students were visited the work under

progress Extension of Nellore-Mumbai highway along with faculty on 26.12.2016.

Students learned about why it becomes mandatory to construct a Concrete Pavement

instead of Bituminous Pavement. They had seen the construction process of Concrete

Road with latest equipment.

An industrial visit to Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah Thermal Power Station, Nellore Dt,

was organised for the II year B.Tech EEE students on 23rd Jan 2017.

An industrial visit to Power Grid Substation at Manubolu of range 400/210/132 KV,

Nellore Dt, was organized for the III year B.Tech EEE students on 25rd Jan 2017.

Industrial visit was conducted to III-I Mechanical students on 26-10-2016 to APSRTC

Workshops Padugupadu, Nellore.

Industrial visit was conducted to IV-I Mechanical students on 24-8-16 to Satish Dawan

Space Center SHAR, Sriharikota, Nellore.
