Our Client’s Challenge As a leading global Financial Services provider, Our Client seeks to gain knowledge across a variety of supply chain risks that could harm its ability to operate effectively or its reputation. Identifying and managing risk among thousands of suppliers is an ongoing challenge and directly impacts its ability to serve customers, protect franchise value and meet commitments to shareholders. So how does a company of their size with its complex supplier base get ahead of the curve? They already have in place a comprehensive supplier risk management program that identifies, mitigates, and manages a variety of supplier and supply- related risks This program is critical to their effort to strengthen the supply chain and mitigate operational and reputation risks but Our Client’s Third Party Portfolio Leader felt that they needed to enhance knowledge of their key suppliers and proactively engage their supplier manager community. Our Solution After conducting several trials with other supplier media monitoring vendors, Our Client reached out to MediaMiser. We were able to demonstrate to them that we really do turn news into knowledge. Upwards of 850 suppliers are monitored in global media to capture and analyze news coverage that points to potential or actual supplier and supply chain risk. News is curated and categorized into functional risk areas (IT Security, Fraud, Compliance, and Reputation, etc.) and delivered to various risk management stakeholders in a customized, reader-friendly format. Analytics are then provided to show trends among suppliers and among risk categories over time, giving further insight into areas of growing operational and reputational concern. MediaMiser uses a combination of its big data software solution called MediaMiser Enterprise and a team of risk media analysts to produce supplier analytics that Our Client uses as a core data point of its supply risk management program. As program adoption grew within Our Client, additional risk analytics were delivered by MediaMiser such as category management intelligence reports, and supplier reputational risk reviews. In 2015, MediaMiser extended its offerings to its risk alerts with a daily bulletin of geo-political and cyber-security risk events that could pose a threat to the stability of Our Client’s supply chain. The intelligence we receive from MediaMiser provides an immediate ability to respond to emerging risks and gave us visibility to other risks we may have not previously identified. The daily geopolitical and weekly supplier information bulletins have been very valuable in our effort to strengthen oversight of critical suppliers, identify and mitigate supply chain vulnerabilities to protect the company from operational, financial and reputational harm.
