User-programmable features such as slew rate, phase anglerate-of-change and voltage rate-of-change allow the UPS toquickly sync to a standby generator during emergency use. GE’ssmart input filter also has user-programmable features ensuringquick and continuous synchronization to generator voltage.

Programmable Soft Start Feature

Allows the rectifier to ramp up in a programmable time period (0-30 seconds) eliminating in-rush current. Thisfeature reduces the need of oversizing the input power system (standby generators, feeder cables, overcurrentdevices).

Smart Input Harmonic Filter

The GE Smart Filter has a programmable feature that allows the filter to be switched off during start-up andlow load conditions (< 28% load), preventing leading input power factor. Very important in Colocation Facilitiesthat experience lightly loaded UPS Systems during initial periods of client growth.

SBM is a comprehensive and programmablemanagement, monitoring and testing system thatprotects the UPS battery string life. Batteries are thusprevented from overcharging and deep discharging

Superior BatteryManagement (SBM)

• During UPS startup, the SBM is programmed withspecific battery information

• Calculates true battery autonomy and remainingbattery backup time during utility outage.

• Measures the volts per cell of the battery systemand compensates for temperature and load

Is there SARFI index data on an actual Utility power system?

EPRI DPQ project conducted over 2 year period at over 250 sites.

50% of sites realized 19 voltage occurrences outside ITI Curve limits. Only 5% of sites had 51 voltageoccurrences per year.

This confirms that Utility Grade Voltage is good most of the time, making Multi-Mode UPS an attractivetechnology to improve operating efficiency.
