GCSE PHOTOGRAPHY (Foundation) - Year 9 Aim of course: • Learn about the history of photography and key facts • Learn the photographic ELEMENTS: Genre, Composition (Rules of thirds/Leading Lines/Balance/Point of Interest), Angle of view, Perspective, Light, Framing, Cropping, Exposure, Format (Landscape/Portrait) and Depth of Field • Learn how to use a DSLR camera in manual mode • Learn about natural and artificial lighting • Take photos in a studio • Learn how to ‘read’ an image and analyse a photographer’s image using key terms and photographic language • Learn how to analyse your own image using key terms and photographic language • Learn camera skills and techniques: The Photographic Triangle- Aperture and F-Stop, Shutter speed, Focus, Depth of Field, Time exposure, ISO and Focal length • Learn the Visual Design ELEMENTS: Line, Tone, Colour, Texture, Form, shape and Pattern • Learn how to use Adobe Photoshop to edit images and create final pieces – eg. magazine/book/film covers
