History & Location

Collaboration: Partnered with the Grant County Convention and Visitors Bureau to improve service delivery and facilitate overhead cost reduction.

Innovation: Recently launched new media initiatives to improve communications with local opinion leaders, partners and general population using social networks such as: Facebook, LinkedIn, and Ning.

Reputation: The Growth Council’s success with major plastics company, TriEnda LLC, received national media coverage with Plastic News, International Economic Development Council and Gerry Dick’s Inside Indiana.

Results:   Major player in the relocation of California’s Avionic Structures to Marion and the successful efforts to attract investments by Big R, Culvers, Moe’s, IHOP and White Castle.

Growth Council Growth Council AccomplishmentsAccomplishments2005 Wal-Mart chose Gas City as

the site for a $60,000,000 distribution center, bringing 850 new jobs & Dollar General “Made It Marion” investing $70,000,000 in a distribution center, bringing 500 new jobs. 2006Total Year Investment: $270 MIL

2007 IBM, Phoenix Technologies and ACS select Marion for a 200 person corporate service center which serves some of Indiana’s neediest families through the Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA)

2008 TriEnda, LLC, a thermal plastics manufacturer, announced their relocation from Wisconsin to the former Thomson plant in Marion. The move will create 340 jobs by 2012.   

 Apr-09 Meijer opens a new grocery and home goods supercenter in Marion creating approximately 200 jobs.  Jun-09 General Cable announces a 5 million dollar expansion and modernization project  July-09 Avionic Structures of California announces their relocation to Marion immediately bringing 17 new jobs. July-09 The Marion General Motors Metal Stamping Plant invests $117 million dollars in new equipment creating 50 new jobs.

Oct-09 Marion General Motors invests additional $364 Million creating 366 new jobs

Our past history includes: • Fast track permitting services (Ex. A Wetlands Army Corp of Engineers Wetland Mitigation Approval within 30 days of submittals & 60 days of delineation report)• Typically providing the rezoning of sites to proposed uses within 10 days of commencement• Local Incentives (Ex. Land cost write-downs to $1 per acre depending on number and quality of jobs created)• State of the Art use of Incentives that are tailored to meet client needs (Ex. Capping property taxes for 30 years)• Active Local Elected Officials that aggressively seek to collaborate in growing job opportunities.
