5 reasons why you should GO TO the Fall Fair
5 reasons why you should ENTER the Fall Fair
The foodIs amazing. And it helps you make the connection between farm and fork in a way that little else can. Bring your kids, of course. They should know that food isn’t grocery-store magic. It’s a great place to go for a dateHay isn’t just for horses! Seriously, though, what can melt a heart better than a lamb, a bunny or a perfect flower arrangement? The entriesIt’s more than giant carrots and jars of jam.
Sure, you can talk to real farmers about why the cucumbers in your garden leave you feeling inadequate and their’s are monsters. But there’s also art, photography, flowers, and much more. The animals“It’s so fluffy, I’m gonna die!” Channel your inner Agnes. The entertainmentHow many banjos can you count? Yes, there will be banjos, for sure, but there are a ton of talented performers who take the stage at the Fall Fair, and the setting is so relaxed.
Inspire your kidsShow your kids that they can be producers, not just consumers. Look through the list in this booklet. You’ll be surprised by what you could enter!Because Fluffy is so cute!Your rabbit/chicken/piglet is the best! You should have a blue ribbon to prove it.You have a giant cucumberYour worked hard on your garden this year, and
now it’s time to show off, pick up a few ribbons, and maybe even a little cash!Grandma’s recipeIt has never let you down. Turn that recipe into some ribbons by entering your best baking or canning into one of the many categories on the following pages.Unleash your artShowing off your art can be nerve-wracking. The Fall Fair is a safe, gentle place to start.
Judging - NEW IN 2019!This year, Fall Fair will use the American System of Judging. Exhibits in this system are compared against a standard of perfection, as well as against the other entries in the competition. All exhibits in a particular class are looked at and ranked with only one selected for first place, second place, third place, etc. If there are no high quality exhibits, at the judge’s discretion, exhibits may be placed in the appropriate position, even if it is second or third place.
