In 2014, the data represents Rafah and Kerem Shalom only. Creation date: 03/03/2015 Feedback: [email protected] www.ochaopt.org opt.humanitarianresponse.info/ Information on the status of border crossings and numbers of truckloads is based on data provided by the Gaza Ministry of National Economy, UNRWA, UNSCO and Paltrade (Palestine Trade Center). *The charts designed based on historical data available. Longstanding restrictions on the movement of people and goods to and from Gaza have undermined the living conditions of 1.8 million Palestinians in Gaza. Many of the current restrictions, originally imposed in the early 1990s, were intensified in June 2007, following the Hamas takeover of Gaza and the imposition of a blockade by Israel. These restrictions have reduced access to livelihoods, essential services and housing, disrupted family life, and undermined the people’s hopes for a secure and prosperous future. The situation has been further compounded by the restriction imposed since 2013 by the Egyptian authorities at Rafah Crossing, which had become the main crossing point used by Palestinians in the Gaza Strip given the above restrictions. *The figures for 2006 and 2007 represent the ABC materials (Cement, Aggregate and steel bars). Since 2008, the data represent mix of construction materials such as tiles, paint. Humanitarian Imports are goods imported by international and local aid agencies to support humanitarian action, mainly food, medical supplies and construction materials. Commercial Imports include a variety of goods imported by the private sector.
