Founders Bernie Lowe & Kal Mann - 1957 Chubby Checker (L) & Bobby Rydell were the biggest stars on the label. The Dovells introduced Dee Dee Sharp & The Orlons to C-P execs. High School friends all. 16-year-old Dione LaRue became Dee Dee Sharp and a big star on the label starng in 1962. It took The Orlons a while to find their groove, but when the Wah-Watusi hit the radio in 1962, the rest fell into place. In 1966 C-P bought the master of 96 Tears from Pa-Go-Go records and sent it to #1 for ? & The Mysterians By 1967 C-P was just about through. Evie Sands was one of their last arsts. She went unnoced.
