He is the winningest and longest-tenured coach in the 30- year history of the Gannon women’s soccer program. As the only coach in school history to lead the program for more than five years, Petersen has a school-record 128 career coaching victories. The Lady Knights were ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division II during the 2015 campaign and hosted the PSAC Final Four and NCAA Atlantic Regional. All of the league’s full- time members are located within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, which makes the PSAC the largest one-state conference in the NCAA. It represents the largest conference in Division II, the largest football- playing conference in the NCAA, and, with 23, the conference that sponsors the most championships at the Division II level. psacsports.com PENNSYLVANIA STATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE Gannon University takes pride in the achievements of its student-athletes on the athletic fields. But even more importantly, Gannon athletes excel both on the field and in the classroom. Gannon’s 539 student-athletes produced an overall 3.27 grade point average during the 2016 fall semester. Over 70 percent of the students playing sports at Gannon achieved a 3.0 GPA or better. Thirty-six student-athletes recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall semester. The 11 women’s intercollegiate teams produced a combined 3.43 GPA. In fact, all 11 teams achieved a team GPA of 3.15 or better. The nine men’s intercollegiate teams produced a combined 3.12 GPA. All nine men’s programs had a GPA of 2.96 or better. The 2015-16 academic year was an excellent one in the classroom for Gannon’s student-athletes. The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) named a school-record 208 Gannon student-athletes scholar-athletes in 2015-16. Gannon has produced 1,436 scholar-athletes during its eight years as a member of the conference. Previously, 727 student-athletes were selected to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) All- Academic teams during Gannon’s final nine years in the league.
