INTRODUCTION

Thank you for purchasing “Dino Run: The Board Game”. You are about to immerse yourself in a strategic and challenging word game. As a player, you will control the different Dino(s) around the board to create great words and challenge the other players in getting the highest points against time.

GAME OBJECTIVE

To score 30 points as soon as possible during the first 15 minutes before the game extends to 25minutes

Form as many English words as possible while earning as much points as possible

NUMBER OF PLAYERS:

\The game is made for a wide range of age group.

Game can be played with a maximum of 4 players.

GAME COMPONENTS

1) One 5 by 5 board

2) 4 player tokens

3) A total of 100 cards with 98 labelled with alphabets and 2 blank cards

4) Several cards labelled with steps 1 to 5

5) Several Action cards

6) A 6 sided die

7) Several padlocks to lock on formed words

8) An egg multiplier score rubrics

SET UP

The instructions below will show how the game board should be set up.

Players are to choose which Dinosaur token they want to represent themselves in the game board.

A 6 sided die should be prepared as players are to use it to determine who would start the game first. The player rolling the highest number would start first. Also, if 2 or more players roll the same number, they would have to re-roll the die.

A 5 by 5 board should be laid out with the alphabet cards arranged on every grid.

Padlock pieces are also provided for players to signify they have locked on the words.

Extra alphabet cards are to be stored in a bag and randomly drawn when replacing the taken alphabet cards

Alphabet cards to be arranged according to the grids.

Step cards are to be placed at the bottom of the board whereby players draw 1 card after they have placed one down.

Various cards showing numbers of steps a player can move are also give.

Step cards labelled 1 to 5. Players use these to denote how many steps they want to make in the game

Some eggs are pasted onto the back of some of the alphabet cards. Denoting that, a particular card would have bonus points. Eggs acts as a bonus multiplier

Behind some of the alphabet cards, eggs are pasted to the back to denote that the score on the alphabets can be multiplied to increase the score

Also provided would be a separate piece of card for players to refer to showing the score multipliers

Game scores are counted based on the number of alphabets used to form words. Score for each alphabet are shown on the top right of each alphabet card

Score cards are given to every player so that they can keep track of their words formed and the amount of points they have earned

USE/PURPOSE OF VARIOUS CARDS IN GAME

Alphabet Cards

They are to be arranged in a 5 by 5 formation in the grid board. Every alphabet carries a different amount of points

Blank Alphabet Cards

There are 2 of these cards and when placed in the grid board, players can take them and choose whatever alphabet they want it to be. Take note that using a blank card does not give players any points.

Special Cards

For some alphabet cards like ‘Z’ and ‘Q. Players can choose swap them out with any 2 alphabets cards from the board without any penalties

Step Cards

Used by players to determine how many steps they want to take

Action Cards

These cards are meant for players to use it to their advantage.

The Purpose of each card is shown below:

Card Type Purpose

Steal Allows player to steal an alphabet card from another player.

Not applicable for letters that have already been locked on

No – No Used to cancel out another player’s action card.

E.g. An opponent wants to steal from another player, this card can be used to neutralized the use of the other action cards

Jump Allows player to jump onto any spot they want on the grid

Swap Allows player to swap any letter with another player.

GAME RULES

Game Duration:

Players are first given 15 minutes to score 30 points. After which, if no player has scored 30 points, the game would continue for up to 25 minutes whereby the player with the highest score wins the game.

1) Players to roll a die to determine who starts first with the player obtaining the highest roll starting first

2) Players with the highest roll get to choose where they want to start. Only allowed to start at any side (Continues in descending order)

3) Player only allowed to hold 5 cards in hand including action cards

4) Allowed to use 1 card per turn

5) Players are only allowed to move up, down and sideways (Not allowed to move diagonally)

6) The player cannot count the spot they are on as a step

7) After putting down a card, players are to draw an additional card so that they would have 5 cards in hand. (Maximum number of cards allowed in hand is 5)

8) Players are only allowed to draw cards during their turn

9) After 1 letter is taken, a new replacement would take the place of the taken letter

10) Players have to take the letter they land on

11) They will have to form a word with a minimum of 4 letters

12) Players cannot reuse the letters in words that are already formed

13) For words that are already formed (Locked on), no actions can be used on them. (For e.g. another player cannot steal or swap a letter from it)

14) Game will still continue even though all the alphabets in the alphabets decks is used up

15) Game will end when no words can be formed with the remaining cards on the board

16) Game will end after 25 minutes and the player with the highest score wins the game

VICTORY CONDITIONS

For the game, there are several ways whereby a player can win the game.

1) Earn 30 points during the first 15 minutes or;

2) Have the most points by the end of the game

If the first condition is fulfilled, the player automatically wins the game.

END GAME CONDITIONS

For the game to end, there are several conditions;

1) Winning player scored 30 points during the first 15 minutes

2) No words can be formed using letters left on the game board

STRATEGIES/TIPS

- Use your action cards wisely; using them well may lead you to victory

- Look through the board and see what words can be form.

- Plan where you want to land on and strategize within your waiting time.
