CHarLotte – A season-low 15-point first half doomed the St. Bonaventure women’s basketball team as it dropped a hard fought 64-58 decision against the Charlotte 49ers on Wednesday night at Halton Arena. The Bonnies drop their second contest in a row to fall to 5-5 in Atlantic 10 action and 17-8 on the season while Charlotte improves to 8-2, 15-9 overall for its 11th consecutive home victory. Junior Shannon McCallum led the way for the 49ers scoring a game high 24 points on 9-of-12 from the floor and 4-for-5 from the line. Joining McCallum in double figures were seniors Erin Floyd and Ashley Spriggs who chipped in 12 and 10, respectively. Leading a trio of double-digit scoring Bonnies, sophomore Jessica Jenkins led the team with 18 points on 5-of-15 from the floor including four from long range and 4-of-5 from the line. Classmate Megan van tatenhove added 13 points while grabbing four rebounds and passing out a team-high three assists. Senior andrea Doneth rounded out the double-figure scorers adding 10 points and grabbing five rebounds. St. Bonaventure shot an impressive 52 percent in the second half, but shot just 36 percent (20-55) for the game due shooting a season-low 19 percent in the first half. Charlotte hit 11-of-24 in both halves for 45.8 percent.
