Tipoff from the Elam Center is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be streamed exclusively on ESPN+. The Skyhawks (1-3) are coming off a strong comeback victory in the home opener against Samford last Thursday night. UT Marn would trail by 10 points heading into the final quarter before the sophomore trio of Damiah Griffin, Brini Moore and Sade’ Hudson keyed a rally to e the game and ulmately force overme. Highlighng the game overall was the play of junior Chelsey Perry who notched a new career-high offensively, tallying 32 points while adding five rebounds and two blocks. UT Marn improved its record at home under 11th year head coach Kevin McMillan to 103-24. The win also improved the Skyhawks to 101-7 when scoring 80 points or more since 2010. The Skyhawks feature three players who are averaging close to double-figures. Griffin has scored in double figures in all four games while pacing the squad with 14.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. A Preseason All-OVC honoree, Perry has come on in the last two games including her 32-point performance against Samford while averaging 13.8 points and 6.8 rebounds. Junior Tamiah Stanford ranks just outside double figures with 9.8 points per game. IUPUI (2-2) enters the contest having dropped back-to-back contests against Miami and Butler last week. SKYHAWKS MATCHED UP AGAINST THE BEST As the Skyhawks head into the season, the schedule is as daunting as ever. According to the Preseason Coaches Poll, the Skyhawks will play No. 9 Louisville, No. 10 Mississippi State, No. 22 Arkansas and No. 23 Gonzaga in non-conference play.
SKYHAWKS PICKED TO FINISH SECOND In a preseason poll of the league’s head coaches and sports information directors, UT Martin has been selected to finish second in the Ohio Valley Conference as announced at the league’s annual media day on Oct. 22, 2019. The Skyhawks garnered nine first place votes and notched 227 overall points while the preseason favorite Belmont earned 234 points and 14 first palace votes.
Home COURT ADVANTAGE UT Martin has tallied 245 home victories since 1995, making the friendly confines of the Elam Center a daunting place for visiting teams. During McMillan’s tenure the Skyhawks have posted a 103-24 record at home since taking over as head coach, posting an .811 winning percentage. The Skyhawks have also posted a 73-11 home record against OVC foes during the same span. The Skyhawks were especially successful at home during the 2018-19 season as the squad recorded the most wins at the Elam Center is school history by going 14-1.

FANS PACK THE ELAM CENTER In a study which ranked the teams in Division I women’s basketball attendance, UT Martin ranked second amongst OVC programs in home attendance with 24,828 people coming through the turnstiles of the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center last season. Hosting a total of 15 home games last season, the Skyhawks averaged 1,655 people per contest, ranking above the national average of 1,092 and league average of 1,013.

100 career blocks for perry UT Martin junior forward Chelsey Perry became just the third player in UT Martin history and the fourth active OVC athlete to eclipse 100 blocks for her career. So far, Perry has tallied 115 career blocks in 68 games - ranking as the fastest player to reach the plateau. Last season, Perry ranked second in the OVC with 71 blocks which ranked as the ninth most blocks in a single season.

PERRY AND WALDROP NAMED ALL-OVC The UT Martin women’s basketball junior duo of Chelsey Perry and Maddie Waldrop were recognized at Ohio Valley Conference Basketball Media Day as Preseason All-OVC honorees. Perry is a two-time Preseason All-OVC honoree after averaging 12.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last season. Perry scored in double figures in 19 contests while tallying four games with at least 20 points. She scored a season-high 28 points against Tennessee Tech while ranking 24th nationally with 71 blocks and 30th with 2.22 blocks per game. Waldrop took the next step in her progression in 2018-19, averaging 8.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game en route to being named a Preseason All-OVC honoree. Waldrop scored in double figures 10 times while recording three double-doubles. She also ranked sixth in the OVC in defensive rebounds (4.8), ninth in total rebounds (7.3) and 10th in offensive rebounds (2.5).

NEW YEAR BRINGS STRONG PLAY Under the direction of head coach Kevin McMillan, UT Martin has posted a 137-50 record when the calendar switches to a new year over the past 10 seasons - including a 61-14 mark in the month of February and 20-12 in March.
THATS 70S SHOW 70 has proven to be the magic number for UT Martin in recent history. Under the direction of head coach Kevin McMillan, the Skyhawks are 159-33 when eclipsing the 70-point plateau. Additionally, when the Skyhawks have scored 80 points or more, they are 101-7 during the same span.
SKYHAWKS THRIVE IN ovc PLAY Since head coach Kevin McMillan took over prior to the 2009-2010 season, the Skyhawks have posted a 127-41 overall record in OVC play, good for a winning percentage of .756. The Skyhawks have won four conference championships in the past six seasons, posting 15-1 records in both 2012 and 2014 while going 16-0 in 2015 and 14-2 in 2016.
THE 20 WINS CLUBUT Martin notched its ninth 20-win season in
program history and first since 2016 last season. It marked the sixth 20-win season under Kevin McMillan since 2010-11. The program record for total wins is 24 set during 2013-14 campaign.
