HEAD COACH WILL WADE - Will Wade is 38-24 in his second season as a head coach. He is 1-0 vs. VMI, 0-0 in Lexington.- Wade is 27-4 at home, 10-18 away and 1-2 in neutral site contests in his career.- Wade is 25-7 in SoCon contests, 16-2 at home, 9-5 away.- Wade is a 2005 graduate of Clemson. He has worked with current collegiate head coaches Larry Shyatt (Wyoming), Oliver Purnell (DePaul), Tommy Amaker (Harvard) and Shaka Smart (VCU) at Clem-son, Harvard and VCU, respectively.- Wade’s staff includes a former head coach, Wes Long (Queens, 2009-13), former Mocs standout Casey Long (2004-07) and Brooks Savage. Savage was the Director of Basketball Ops a season ago before his promotion. Alex Wharton filled that spot with Jordan Clark (Graduate Manager), Trey Draper (Graduate Manager) and Antonio Stabler (Video Coordinator) rounding out the staff.

BLOCK PARTY - Tuoyo is the Mocs single-season blocks record holder. He bypassed Z. Mason (92, 2013-14) with the sixth of his seven blocks in the home win over ETSU.- At his current pace, Tuoyo would become the first Moc to block 100+ in a season. Kyle Hines (UNCG, 2005) holds the league record of 106.- Tuoyo’s blocked two or more shots in 26 of 29 games. He’s had four or more 10 times.- Tuoyo has more total blocks (94) than 190 DI teams (as of 2/22).- The Mocs posted five or more blocks 21 times with three of 10 or more.- The team is averaging 7.1 blocks per game in league play led by Tuoyo’s 3.6 average.- Tuoyo’s nine blocks in the home win over Western Carolina tied the SoCon record for a league matchup. CREDENTIALS Outlets wishing to attend men’s basketball contests at McKenzie Arena need to contact Horten to apply for credentials. Requests should be made a mini-mum of 24 hours prior to the event.
STUDENT-ATHLETE INTERVIEWS Every Monday during the season, student-athletes are available to the media based on class schedule. Please make your requests at least 24 hours in advance.
COVERING PRACTICE UTC basketball practices are closed to the media. There are select practice during the season that are open and the media will be advised well in advance of those occurences.
GAMEDAY PROCEDURES No UTC coach or player is available to the media prior to gametime.
POSTGAME PROCEDURES The UTC locker room is closed. For home games, following a 10-minute “cooling off“ period, Wade comes to the media room first followed by visiting team coach (if requested). Selected Mocs follow the visiting coach. Visiting player availability and locker room accessibility depends on that team’s procedures.
SOCON WEEKLY AWARDS Every Tuesday during the regular season, the Southern Conference announces its Player of the Week. There is also a monthly award that will be an-nounced early in the month following the previous one’s competition.

WHAT’S IN A NAME? What’s in a name? Depends on who you ask, but as far as the references to the Mocs, the official school name is the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. The preferred name is simply Chattanooga, while the abbreviated form is UTC. There is no hyphenated version (i.e. UT-Chatt, Tenn.-Chatt, Tennessee-Chatt, UT Chatt, etc.). The nickname is simply Mocs. during the fall semester. He, Casey Jones, Ronrico White and K.J. Bates made the Dean’s List (3.2+), while Martynas Bareika and Alex Bran earned AD Honor Roll (3.0+).- Jones was the Southern Conference Player of the Week for December 2. For the three games that week, he tallied 18.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game shooting 64 percent (16-25) from the field and 82.1 percent (23-28) from the free throw line.- Robertson earned General Shale SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week honors January 14 for his play in the wins over Western Carolina and in overtime at ETSU.- Jones repeated as SoCon Player of the Week on Feb. 3. He averaged 23.5 points and 8.5 boards per game shooting 54.3 percent (19-35) from the field and 81.8 percent (9-11) from the FT line.- Jones claimed SoCon Player of the Month for January averaging 16.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per game shooting 53.2% (58-109).- Jones was SoCon Player of the Week (Feb. 17) aver-aging 22.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game in wins over Wofford and Samford. His third such award this year is a school season record.- Dee Oldham is a mid-season transfer from UT Martin. Oldham, who prepped at Wilson County H.S., in Lebanon, Tenn., started 18 games in his two-and-a-half years at UTM. He is eligible after finals in December 2015 and will be a junior. He is a 6-4 guard/forward.- For the first time since 2009-10, the Mocs had a winning mark in non-conference play going 7-6 topping teams from Conference USA, Big South, Northeast and Atlantic Sun conferences.- Chattanooga won 20 games in the 2014 calendar year. That’s the most since 22 in 2009.- The Mocs captured the B4A hosted site title beating defending Northeast Conference champion Robert Morris (61-46) and reigning Big South champ Coastal Carolina (78-67). It is the 35th “in-season” tourney win for the program since the move to DI in 1977-78. The program is 100-50 in such events.- White had his high school jersey retired on Friday, January 9, at Bearden H.S. in Knoxville, Tenn. The entire team and staff attended on their way to the 74-71 overtime win the next day at ETSU.- Justin Tuoyo had a 19-game multi-block streak snapped in the home win over The Citadel.- 1st 20-win season since 2004-05. First time with 20 wins in the regular season since 1993-94.
EARLY SIGNEES - Austin Donaldson: 6’1” point guard from
Jonesboro (GA) High School. Considered one of the top point guards in the state of Georgia, he led Dan Maehlman’s Cardinals to the Class 4A state title in his first season as a starter. He averaged 8.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. He chose Chattanooga over Sun Belt Conference member Troy. He was ranked No. 8 overall in Georgia by bigshots.net just ahead of signees for Xavier, Cincin-nati, Mississippi State and Tennessee.- Trey Kalina: 6’11” post from North Cobb Christian (GA). Plays for Greg Matta, brother of Ohio State coach Thad Matta. A three-star prospect per future150.com, he ranks as No. 37 nationally at his position, 11th-best overall in Georgia. He averaged 8.7 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.6 blocks per game for a 21-9 Eagles team in 2013-14. He chose Chatta-nooga after visits to La Salle, App State and Liberty.- Lamarcus Lee: 6’2” combo guard from Scotland-ville Magnet (Baton Rouge, La.). He is the No. 15 prospect by NOLA.com/Times-Picayune. His Hornets are trying to reach a sixth straight Class 5A cham-pionship game under coach Carlos Sample. The Hornets won it all in 2012 and 2013. He reportedly received offers from VCU and South Alabama and is a two-star wing according to verbalcommits.com.- ZaQwaun Matthews: 6’4” combo guard from Myers Park High School (Charlotte, N.C.). He aver-aged 15.3 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest for coach Wes Hepler’s Mustangs who reached the first round of the state tournament. He decided on the Mocs over interest from Richmond, Charlotte and East Carolina. He earned Southwestern 4A All-Conference from the Charlotte Observer in 2014.
HISTORY - Chattanooga has won 28 championships in 37 seasons in the league including 10 regular-season (prior to division play starting in 1994-95), eight division and 10 tournament. Davidson is second during that span with 22, 12 division. - The Mocs 20 regular-season/tourney titles are far and away the most through those 37 campaigns followed by Davidson (2 reg season/8 tourney) with 10 and East Tennessee State (re-entering the league in 2014-15) with nine (3 reg season/6 tourney).- Chattanooga has won a title of some kind in 19 of its 37 years in the SoCon.- In its 94th season, Chattanooga has had a winning record 53 times. SCOUTING THE KEYDETS- 11-16 overall, 7-9 in the Southern Conference.- VMI is 6-5 at home in 2014-15, 3-4 in the league. The wins are over Johnson, Mid-Atlantic Christian, Marist, ETSU, The Citadel and Furman. The lone home non-conference loss was to UNC Wilmington.- Head Coach Dugger Baucom is 151-156 in his 10th season in Lexington, 188-175 overall in 14 cam-paigns.
