Game NotesCoaches...LWC’s Chris Oliver made his head coaching debut last week against Notre Dame. The former Ohio Dominican offensive coordinator is seeking his first career win. SVU’s DeLane Fitzgerald is in his second season as the Knight’s head man. He is 4-9 all-time at Southern Virginia and in his head coaching career.

The Blue Raider defense currently leads the Mid-South Conference and ranks in the NAIA’s top-25 in both yards and points allowed.
Special Special Teams...Lindsey Wilson freshmen Richard Kennedy and Mark Corbett combined to provide all 10 Blue Raider points last Saturday. Kennedy electrified the Lindsey Wilson faithful with a 94-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the third quarter. Corbett etched his name in the LWC record books in the first quarter with a 43-yard field goal to post the first-ever Lindsey Wilson points.
Setting Up the Score...Lindsey Wilson freshman quarterback Greg Young and receiver Cameron Zuelsdorf connected on the longest play from scrimmage on Saturday with a 57-yard pass and catch that set up the first Blue Raider score.
Leading the Nation...With his 94-yard kickoff return, Lindsey Wilson freshman Richard Kennedy vaulted to the top of the NAIA in kickoff return average. Kennedy is averaging 59.5 yards for his two returns this season.
Fresh Faces...Lindsey Wilson enters the 2010 season without an up-perclassman on the roster. Of the top 98 players, 93 are freshmen and five are sophomores.
Home Grown Team...Nearly two-thirds of the Lindsey Wilson roster is made up of players from the Commonwealth. Sixty-seven of the top 98 players are from Kentucky. Other states represented on the Blue Raider roster are: Tennessee (13), Ohio (11), Georgia (3), Alabama (2), Indiana (1) and Missouri (1).

Coach Chris Oliver begins his first season in 2010 at the helm of the Lindsey Wilson football program. Oliver becomes the first coach in the program’s history since the 1935 season -- the last season of Lindsey Wilson football. The Lindsey Wilson job is Oliver’s first head coaching position after spending five seasons as assistant coach at Ohio Dominican University. Oliver served as offensive coordinator at Ohio Dominican from 2006-08. Hired on January 7, 2009, Oliver has overseen ever aspect of rebuilding the Lindsey Wilson football program. Soon after be-ing announced as the Blue Raiders coach, Oliver hit the recruit-ing trail which resulted in the signing of a pair of local student-athletes on February 4. Oliver concluded his first recruiting class with 65 student-athletes inking with the LWC football program. On May 26, Oliver began assembling his coaching staff with the hiring of Brian Foos as the offensive coordinator and Mike Gutelius as the defensive coordinator. Since May, Oliver has added his 2010 signing class and com-pleted his coaching staff in preparation for the 2010 season. Prior to coming to Lindsey Wilson, Oliver helped start the

Ohio Dominican football program from scratch. As the lead assistant and recruiting coordinator, Oliver spearheaded the recruitment of 160 student-athletes in 2004. During his time at Ohio Dominican, Oliver led one of the most prolific offenses in the NAIA. In 2006, Oliver’s offense ranked third in the NAIA in total offense and passing offense. The following season, the Panthers led the NAIA in total offense and passing, and they were second in scoring. In 2008, Ohio Dominican was third in passing and 11th in total offense. The Panthers were 26-7 while Oliver was ODU offensive coordinator, which included an appearance in the 2007 NAIA Football Championship Series quarterfinals. Prior to Ohio Dominican, Oliver served on coach Jim Tres-sel’s Ohio State University staff as a student-assistant. Oliver assisted with the Buckeyes’ tight ends and special teams. He also assisted with scouting and worked closely with recruiting. Oliver helped the Buckeyes to the 2001 Outback Bowl. Oliver and his wife, Wendy, reside in Columbia and have one daughter, Samantha.
