the national level contest for a chance to have their bowl featured

in the 2015 contest advertising materials and a Family Paint Party.

Rules & Policies We don’t have many rules.. But the few we do have are

important so please read carefully.

Internal Policy… • Bowls are separated into two categories: Under 12 and 12+

• Your 1st Place Winner in each category is entered into the

national level – that is a total of two entries per studio.

• You must use our dates to be included.

It is important that you run your promotion according to the

dates posted in order for your winner’s bowls to be treated with

the same considerations as any others.

Voting Voting will take place in your online voting page within your

website. It's great fun to watch the incredible spike in website

traffic during the contest. It is not recommended that voting

take place in more than one platform as it will become

confusing to the customer and difficult to track.

For those of you tempted to use Facebook as a platform for

voting… Remember, we use Facebook as a tool to drive

customers to our website. This contest is a unique

opportunity to drive people directly to your site. Don't muddle

that with an attempt to create voting via 'likes' on Facebook,

use Facebook to chat about the contest, directing people to the

voting on your website.

As voting is taking place, keep sharing a link to your contest

voting page on Facebook, and encouraging customers to share

the link so their friends can vote!

Processing Bowls Here are some tips to successfully processing entries:

• Explain contest details as the customers paints their bowl.

• Using contest entry forms? Fill out before paying.

• Photograph the bowls as they come out of the kiln, so there is

no interruption to service, allowing customers to pick up as

usual.

It's a good idea to stage a spot in the back for photos so it's easy

to get them as needed. Recommended, cover small surface area

and background/wall with black cloth or white table paper and

leave a camera with photo quality set to high, handy. As bowls

come out snap a pic of the bowl along with the customer name

writing on a piece of paper sitting beside it (makes it easy to

track who’s is who’s. Please be careful that the whole bowl is in

frame. Feel free to take multiple photos of each bowl. As the time

approaches for you to send them to me, I will provide delivery

instructions. I will need photo files named accordingly:

Prep Start with your Staff Use your team to come up with cool ideas to make your contest

great. Delegate responsibilities to staff. Consider having a staff

painting contest in early August. This gets them excited and

creates great painted samples for displays.

Reach Out To Potential Partners Approach potential partners such as pet businesses and non-

profits. Invite them to brainstorm being a part of the event.

Order Bisque Be sure you have plenty of dog bowls on hand

(or Black)

Page 10: GADAB Getting Started

Partners Obvious partners are pet stores, pet bakeries, groomers and any

other pet related businesses. Children’s museums would make an

excellent partner, to host the entries as a show!

Offer to feature partners on your advertising materials and

partner page. Can they donate prizing? Help advertise?

You might also work with local non-profits such as shelters,

Humane Society or SPCA. Choose the one with the largest

network and greatest reputation.

Consider hosting pet adoptions at the studio. Don’t worry, this

mostly involves albums featuring pictures of animals and only a

few, well behaved live ones on site. Pet adoption days are

newsworthy… don’t be too quick to dismiss the idea.

Consider making donations to your chosen organization.
