FIU is coming off a 77-59 home loss to Nova Southeastern on Tuesday after winning seven of its previous eight games, including a nine-point win over A-Sun member Stetson.
FGCU won last year’s meeting, 76-73, at Alico Arena (Box Score: Page 23).
The Panthers are in their first season as a member of Con-ference USA after being in the Sun Belt Conference.
FIU’s next game after FGCU won’t be until Dec. 21 when the Panthers play defending national champion Louisville on their home court. Richard Pitino, the son of Louisville coach Rick Pitino, coached FIU last year before taking the head job at Minnesota.
FIU began the week leading the nation in total rebounds (456) with Rakeem Buckles ranking second in the country in total boards with 113.
Tymell Murphy, who also led the nation in total minutes at the beginning of the week, has already recorded six double-doubles on the campaign.
Entering Saturday’s game, Murphy and Buckles are both av-eraging more than 15 points per game, with Buckles adding 10.3 rebounds per outing.
The Eagles will be looking to prevent FIU from winning its 300th Division-I game.
Against Ave Maria on Nov.
23, FGCU set an Alico Arena at-
tendance record with a sellout, stand-ing-room only crowd
of 4,633. That number surpassed last year’s re-
cord of 4,552 in the season opener against Miami. FGCU has now had 4,000 or more spectators in three straight games for the first time in program history, with three of the four larg-est crowds ever al-ready occurring in the first three home games of
the season.

The combo guard averaged 11.2 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists per game last season as a junior at Providence High School, helping lead the program to the Class 3A Championship in 2012-13.
Terrell is ranked in the top 35 in the state at No. 34 by SourceHoops, a rank-ing sure to go up as he enters his senior season on a team selected by the same outlet as the best in 3A. Terrell chose FGCU over a few BCS programs, and his Providence team will play in the elite City of Palms Classic in December in Fort My-ers, giving Eagles fans a great opportu-nity to see the athletic combo wing.

Moeller, who will have three years of eligibility, was a preferred walk-on at Missouri last season after averaging 11 points and 5 rebounds per game as a se-nior at De Smet High School in his native St. Louis. Moeller is currently at Central Florida in Ocala, the reigning National Junior College Champions, and originally had scholarship offers from the Eagles and a pair of mid-major programs coming out of high school before choosing FGCU.
Moeller is one of three current Central Florida players who have already signed to play at the Division-I level, with sever-al more expected to follow suit. While at De Smet, Moeller was teammates with current Butler freshman Nolan Berry.

Rated the No. 1 prospect in South Flori-da by RMF Magazine, the 8th-best pros-pect in the entire state by Future 150 and a 4-star recruit by the same outlet, Johnson averaged 13.3 points, 4.1 as-sists and 2.7 steals per game at Miami Norland High School last year. John-son erupted for a game-high 29 points against Pines Charter in the 6A Regional semifinals and then earned State Final Four MVP after leading the Vikings to their second consecutive 6A Champion-ship in the highest level of high school basketball in Florida.
Johnson, who is ranked as one of the top 100 players in the entire nation and No. 27 at his position by Future 150, chose FGCU over a pair of Atlantic 10 schools.
The Golden BoyAgainst Hartford on the morning of Nov. 12 in front of a national TV audience on ESPN2, FG-CU’s lone senior Chase Fieler put up, statistically, the greatest single-game performance in Division-I program history.
Fieler leads FGCU in scoring at 14.6 per game (88 points total), but has been whistled for more fouls (21) than anyone else on the roster.
5 More Things To Know in 140 CharaCTers or Less

FGCU returns 4 starters from a team which be-came the first since the 1987 Florida squad to win its first two NCAA Tournament games in program history.
#protectInGTHEnESTLast year, 10 of FGCU’s 11 losses came away from Alico Arena, and so far
this season only one of the Eagles losses have occurred outside the friendly con-fines of The Nest. Dating back to last year, FGCU has won nine of its past 10 home games, and boasts an 18-2 record at Alico Arena since the start of the 2012-13 cam-paign. (Losses: Lipscomb, Iona).
18-2
Looking further into the Eagles’ home-court ad-vantage, FGCU’s first non-conference loss at Alico since the 2010-11 season took place Sunday againt Iona, breaking a stretch of 15 straight wins at home. The Green and Blue went 5-0 in 2011-12, 7-0 in 2012-13 and is 3-1 this year.
15-1
paYInG DIVIDEnSWhen head coach Joe Dooley took over the FGCU program in the offseason, one of the key areas the former Kansas assistant empha-sized was taking care of the ball. Last year, FGCU ranked 282nd in the nation in turnovers per game at 14.7. This season, the Eagles are already ranked among the top 100 teams in the country at No. 94 with an average of just 11.4 giveaways per game.
NC State scored 54 points in the paint last Tuesday night, the most points in the paint FGCU has allowed in a single game in the Division-I era (2007-08). The previous high was just 42, set by multiple opponents. Conversely, in FGCU’s four wins, it has tallied at least 34 points in the paint itself, but in its first two losses it scored just 16 (Nebraska) and 22 (NC State).
Home/ROaD BREakDOWnThe only category in which FGCU has been significantly better on the road than at home is free-throw shooting as the Eagles are connecting at just 47.5 percent (28-59) at home but do so at a 74.2-percent clip (46-62) on the road.
Furthermore, in all three of FGCU’s road games, both Chase Fieler and Nate Hicks have been in early foul trouble as each starter has picked up two fouls in all three games after just eight minutes of action. For Fieler, the Eagles lone senior has picked up both of his fouls within the first five minutes of the game starting.
?Did You knowBrett Comer has 12 career double-figure assist games. The player with the next clos-
est total in the A-Sun is Mer-cer senior Langston Hall who only has three such games.

FGCU ATHLETICSDID YOU KNOW? • FGCU has won a combined 30 conference regular season and tournament titles in just 6 years in Division I as a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference & Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association.
• In just 2 YEARS of Division I postseason eligibility, FGCU has sent 7 TEAMS to the NCAA Tournament, while men’s golf and women’s swimming have had an individual participate in their respective NCAA Championship each year.
• Backed by four Atlantic Sun regular season crowns and four more teams that finished in the top 3 of the conference standings, FGCU SWEPT all three of the A-SUN ALL-SPORT races in 2012-13. The four A-Sun regular season titles were tied for a league-high, while the Eagles are just the second A-Sun member to sweep the three All-Sport races.
• After becoming the first team into the NCAA field of 68 by winning the A-Sun Tournament, the FGCU men’s basketball team became the FIRST NO. 15 SEED IN NCAA TOURNAMENT HISTORY to advance to the SWEET 16. The Eagles became the Cinderella of the 2013 dance, as they defeated No. 2 seed Georgetown and No. 7 seed San Diego State. The team’s up-tempo style and refreshing charisma resulted in Fort Myers being called “Dunk City.”
• FGCU women’s basketball was just the second A-Sun team to produce a perfect conference regular season in 2011-12, going 18-0, but it became the first to do so in back-to-back seasons with its second straight 18-0 mark in 2012-13. The Eagles A-Sun regular season crown was their third in the last six years.
• FGCU’s 53 combined wins in men’s and women’s basketball in 2012-13 was the 9TH-BEST total in the nation, while it joined Duke, Louisville and Gonzaga as the only schools with at least 26 wins in both.
• In the fall of 2012, FGCU swept the A-Sun team sports regular season, taking home the men’s soccer, women’s soccer and women’s volleyball crowns. For the second straight year, FGCU was the ONLY Division I school to win its conference regular season and postseason tournament in both men’s and women’s soccer.
• FGCU’s student-athletes achieved a record 3.31 CUMULATIVE GPA in the Spring of 2013 semester.
