Community Pride runs deep!

I have been overwhelmed by the number and quality of “Proudest Moments” handed in during Education Week last week. I have shared 13 of them via our School App.. And still they come rolling in!

Here is a sample of what our kids are

proud of:

• Receiving a Gold Badge;

• Reaching reading goals;

• Playing sport well;

• Making friends;

• Counting and doing “tricky” things

in maths;

• Having great teachers;

• Being chosen for leadership (SRC,

or prefect team);

• Trying hard; and

• Getting awards and merit cards.

Now, here’s what our parents said:

• My child being picked for PSSA or

zone athletics;

• My child singing at the Opera

House;

• My child telling me they’ve

received a Gold Badge; and

• My child loving school each day!

And, things the staff are proud of:

• Seeing students make progress;

• Engaging kids in learning;

• Getting feedback from students

about our teaching;

• Trying new things and them

working really well;

• Watching students become more

independent;

• Witnessing talent: dance, sport or

academic; and

• Getting a job at GEPS!

What fabulous memories and moments. Thank you to everyone for sharing.

Each Monday 1/2H have been involved in a book club where we discuss a book with a kindergarten class from Auburn North Public School. The book we have been working on is I want my hat back by Jon Klassen. Last week students were asked to take on the role of two characters in the book (the bear and the rabbit) and write a conversation between the two and then act it out. The following photos are examples from these lessons. Students really had fun with changing their voice and working on their expression when reading.

Congratulations to the Students who have completed the Challenge they are:
