7 Precautions in UsagePlease observe the cautionary notes below for safe use of the GLUCOCARD G+ meter.

Do not use the GLUCOCARD G+ meter while you are undergoing a xylose absorption test and your blood concentration is 8 mg/dL or higher. Such a condition makes blood glucose test results higher than actual levels.

G sensors that were used for blood glucose tests contain blood. To prevent exposure to pathogenic microbes, dispose of the used G sensors according to your doctor’s instructions, being careful not to contact any other person with them.

Keep all G sensors, lancets, and batteries out of the reach of children. If any of them is swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.

Blood sampling from your forearm is available using the arm type lancing device. However, blood should be sampled from your finger under the following conditions.• You have symptoms of low blood glucose such as, (cold) sweat, a floating feeling, and

shivering.• You should immediately check if your blood glucose level is lower than the designated

level when you notice that your blood glucose has dropped.• There is a possibility that the blood glucose level has changed rapidly, such as after an

exercise.• You caught a cold or are in poor physical condition.

For people who feel sudden changes in their blood glucose level, it has been reported that forearm measurements are sometimes slower to reflect these changes than fingertip measurements.

11

Before measurement, take the GLUCOCARD G+ meter and the G sensors out of the carrying case, and leave it out at least 20 to 30 minutes, where the surrounding temperature ranges from 10°C to 40°C and the relative humidity of 20 to 80%. If the test meter is transferred to a different place, a certain period of time will be required to acclimatize it to the ambient environment. The greater the difference in temperature between the test meter and the ambient environment, the longer period will be required for acclimatization. Insufficient acclimatization can produce inaccurate test results because of incorrect temperature compensation. In addition, do not expose the test meter to an area with rapid changes in temperature or with excessive humidity. This may cause moisture to condense inside the test meter, thereby you will get inaccurate test results. The test meter should be kept in storage within a temperature range between 0°C to 50°C.

CAUTION

Page 13: G+ meter manual ingles baja resolucion

Precautions in Usage 12

Do not grasp the test meter near the sensor inlet. A built-in thermo-sensor that compensates temperatures to minimize measurement errors is installed inside the inlet. If you hold this area, it will be warmed by your fingers, which will adversely affect test results.

To obtain accurate results and prevent malfunction of the instrument, be sure to keep the sensor inlet clean and prevent the infiltration of blood, moisture, dirt, or dust inside the test meter. When you clean the test meter, use soft cloth moistened with water. Note that this cloth must be thoroughly wrung out prior to use. Wiping the test meter aggressively with antiseptic solution may damage the display.

Do not use a test meter that has been dropped in water, or if any water has entered into the test meter. Even if you dry it, correct test results may not be obtained, and malfunction may result.

13

The test meter may perform incorrectly when you use it close to TV sets, microwave ovens, cellular phones, or low-frequency therapeutic devices, all of which radiate electromagnetic waves. To obtain accurate test results, turn off these power switches, or keep them more than 1 meter away.

Only use G sensors with the GLUCOCARD G+ meter. It is not possible to perform a test with a sensor of any other kind. In addition, do not forcibly insert any other sensor into the sensor inlet. Otherwise, the test meter may suffer a breakdown.

G sensors should not be left out of the bottle or held with fingers for a long period of time. Also, do not hold them with wet or dirty fingers. Otherwise correct test results may not be obtained.

Do not use a G sensor that has already made contact with blood or control solution. Otherwise correct test results may not be obtained.

Precautions in Usage 14

Do not use the G sensor after its expiration date. The G sensors contained in the bottle that was opened more than 3 months before now must not be used. Otherwise correct test results may not be obtained.

As soon as you take a G sensor out of the bottle, put the bottle cap on. Otherwise correct test results may not be obtained. Do not use a G sensor from a bottle that has been left uncapped. Use a new G sensor from a new bottle.

Store the control solution tightly capped. Otherwise correct test results may not be obtained.

Make sure that the batteries are loaded in the proper orientation. If it is positioned incorrectly, the test meter may not work correctly and the internal clock settings may be reset.
