The 21 faculties at the German Sport University Cologne – from education and humanities to social sciences and biomedicine – offer a diverse array of teaching and research opportunities to the university’s some 5,300 students from more than 60 countries. The International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE) ICSSPE is the world’s largest network of national and international organisa- tions that are concerned with sport, sport science and physical education. Since 1958 ICSSPE has reached out to millions of people across the globe through research activities, knowledge sharing and capacity building, as well as policy advice and development. ICSSPE investigates for a better scientific understanding of human movement, educates for a better quality of life and improved health, and advocates for the benefits related to an active lifestyle as well as to preserving the ethical values inherent in sporting activity. The seminar „Communities and Crisis - Inclusive Development through Sport“ is organised by ICSSPE in collaboration with Kennesaw State University (USA) and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium) and supported by the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Germany, the Fuerst Donnersmarck-Foundation and Otto Bock HealthCare. To ensure a sustainable delivery of Sport for Development programmes, those who implement such are required to have substantial thematic and cultural know-ledge as well as the necessary teaching skills.

The Further Education Programme „Sport-for-Development“ consists of three phases with the aim to enable participants » to deliver sport related development programmes in social problem and crisis areas;» to be sufficiently qualified for the international labor market;» to create awareness for different working areas.

During the one-week seminar „Communities and Crisis - Inclusive Develop-ment through Sport“ (organised by ICSSPE) in Rheinsberg/Germany participants benefit from unique insights into the usage of sport for inclusive community building, crisis management and social development. International experts and practitioners from the fields of sociology, psychology, social work and physical activity/education will deliver a hands-on training programme. Through both the-oretical and practical learning sessions, participants will learn how to implement Sport-for-Development programmes. During an internship (min. 300 hrs.) in a national or international governmental or non-governmental organisation the participants will have the opportunity to explore and gain experience in the professional field.

Entry requirements (at least one of the following):

» Persons with a completed university degree (at least BA) or appropriate professional experience

» Persons who have completed the basic studies of a bachelor degree in Sport Science

» Participants of the ICSSPE seminar „Communities and Crisis“.
