GROWING URBANIZATION EN BIG CITIES
In 1990 Mexico had 21 cities with more than 500,000 inhabitants reaching a population of 34 millions
!n 2010 Mexico had 35 cities with more than 500,000 inhabitants now with a population of 60 millions México City more than 20 millions 3 cities betwen 2.5 and 4.5 millions 7 cities betwen 1 and 2 millions 22 cities betwen 500,000 and 1 million
These cities are growimg to the peripheria with lower density , demanding more and more transportation
Now 53 % of the population of Mexico live in these big cities and these trend will remain
To achieve a sustainable urban development the City Plan need to promote a higher density where the Transit projects will play a relevant role,
