Fairview Health Case Study

• During migration to Epic EMR, 14 read-only legacy systems were identified that policy mandated their patient information be retained

• Quick access to this information would not available from within Epic

• High costs were being incurred to maintain these systems for solely data access

In collaboration with partner, Flatirons, EMC was able to decommission these systems for significant cost savings and improve patient care through:

• Dynamic access, search, audit and reporting capabilities

• The ability to update certain content

• Management of data in accordance with retention and compliance policies

8 months Return on investment

$6M savings over 3 years by eliminating IT resources for support and maintenance

Hospital in the Northeast Case Study

• Migrated to Epic, but needed a way to cost effectively retain legacy clinical data and documents that could not be loaded directly into Epic

• Needed to allow Epic users to search, view, and retrieve archived patient records

• Also identified need for an enterprise DMS integrated with Epic

EMC was able to provide access to a lifetime of patient information and enhance their Epic EMR investment by:

• Archiving all forms of applications and information

• Enabling Epic users to find and view archived records, on-demand, within Hyperspace

• Providing access within Epic Hyperspace to records ingested from other systems

ROI Significant ‘cost avoidance’ stemming from application decommissioning
