Activity CampActivity Camps offer an affordable option for families living in the City of Toronto. A typical week in an activity camp includes: a weekly theme with a balance of active and quiet games, crafts, songs, outdoor activities and special events. Activity Camps may go on a local trip such as a park or library.
Adventure CampAdventure Camps have all the ingredients of an Activity Camp and more! A typical week in one of our Adventure Camps includes: arts and crafts, sports, workshops and special events. Campers will go on a trip or bring in a special guest that is related to the theme of the camp.
Adventure Camp: YouthThese camps have all of the ingredients of an activity camp and more. Campers are introduced to leadership activities through workshops, special events and excursions.
Specialty CampSpecialty Art CampsSpecialty Art Camps are designed with the artistic child in mind! Whether your camper is interested in arts and crafts or performance arts and dance we have something for you. Campers will have an opportunity to develop their skills in their specific area of interest with formal instruction each day in addition to a full line-up of traditional camp activities.
Specialty Sports CampsCalling all sport fans! Our Specialty Sports Camps offer campers an opportunity to develop or fine-tune their skills in a specific sport by participating in formal instruction each day of camp. This is in addition to a full line up of traditional camp activities.
Specialty Interest CampsMagic, Cooking or Computers...do any of these interest your camper? If so, we offer a wide range of Special Interest Camps. In addition to formal instruction, campers will also have the opportunity to participate in traditional camp activities.
Specialty Camp DescriptionsSpecialty Camp: ArtsExplore a variety of art mediums and artistic expressions through formal instruction such as dance, painting, sketching and drawing.
Specialty Camp: Arts and CraftsCampers will have the opportunity to complete a variety of craft projects that they will be able to take home at the end of the week.
Specialty Camp: BabysittingThis program is a Red Cross certification course in babysitting. Youth will also participate in other camp activities.
Specialty Camp: Ball HockeyCampers will develop the fundamentals of ball hockey. A minimum of 2 hours a day will be focused on developing skills such as shooting, passing and scrimmages.
Specialty Camp: BasketballCampers will develop the fundamentals of basketball. A minimum of 2 hours a day will be focused on developing skills such as dribbling, lay-ups and ball handling techniques.
Specialty Camp: Basketball/BaseballCampers will develop the fundamentals of baseball and basketball. A minimum of 2 hours a day will be focused on developing skills such as throwing, hitting, dribbling, layups and bal handling techniques..
Specialty Camp: CAN-BIKECAN-BIKE 3 curriculum will be combined with games, sports and swimming. Campers will learn traffic theory and safe riding skills. Campers must be able to ride a bike and must bring their own bike, bike helmet and bike lock.
Specialty Camp: ComputerExplore the arts and science of computers. Campers will receive computer instruction in a recreational setting.
Specialty Camp: CanoeThe ultimate experience for young people wanting to develop or fine-tune their paddling skills. Participants receive a specialized week long Program that includes traditional camp activities such as swimming, paddling trips to the Humber River, hiking in High Park and nature lessons. (Sunnyside-Gus-Ryder Outdoor Pool)
Specialty Camp: CookingParticipants will learn the art of cooking as well as the basics of nutrition and healthy eating, cooking techniques and kitchen safety.
Specialty Camp: DanceExplore a variety of dance including: ballet, jazz, hip hop and contemporary. A minimum of 2 hours a day will be spent on formal instruction in addition to recreational activities.
Specialty Camp: Dance and DramaIn addition to formal instruction in dance, campers will also take part in the mysteries of the theatre through drama coaching, set designs and dramatic performances.
Specialty Camp: DramaStep into the spotlight and be prepared to take part in the mysteries of the theatre through drama coaching, set design and dramatic performances. Participants will be introduced to tableaux, role-play, and improv through an intensive look of techniques used in drama. Students will also learn basics in voice projection, expression, and script interpretation via skits and fundamental exercises.
Specialty Camp: Drawing and SketchingCampers will learn the fundamentals of sketching and drawing. A minimum of 2 hours a day will be focused on developing skills such as perspective and shading using values and tones.
Specialty Camp: FrenchEnjoy the summer camp experience in a French immersion setting. Campers will participate in various activities while improving their French skills.
Specialty Camp: GymnasticsCampers will work on floor skills such as front roll progressions, handstands and cartwheels. Floor work also includes leaps, jumps and turns and connecting locomotion skills.
Specialty Camp: Learn to BikeWe invite new riders that have never used a bicycle as well as children that need to develop confidence on their bikes, to join this camp. Learn to balance, coast, pedal and steer. Enjoy crafts, sports and swimming too. Campers will remain on location for all biking activities. Campers must bring their own bicycle, bike helmet and bike lock.
Specialty Camp: NatureDesigned for campers who love to explore and connect with the outdoor environment. Activities include hiking, crafts and playing nature games.
Specialty Camp: Outdoor ExplorerLearn the fundamentals of orienteering and nature skills. Participants will have and opportunity to put their nature skills to the test while participating in recreation activities.
Specialty Camp: Riverdale Farm Riverdale camps provide an engaging environment where city children deepen their connection to the animals, soil, and plants that are the sources of their food. All camp sessions integrate weekly themes, hands-on farming (farmer sessions) and food activities including cooking, gardening and using the bake oven. Additional outdoor exploration, music, and art offer a varied and memorable camper experience.

Specialty Camp: ScienceDiscover the world of science through fun and exciting games, activities and experiments. Activities are designed to help children investigate the properties of science.
Specialty Camp: Soccer/FootballCampers will develop the fundamentals of soccer. A minimum of 2 hours a day will be focused on developing skills such as kicking, passing and heading.

Specialty Camp: Swim Campers will take part in Ultra Swim: Small Group lessons for 30 minutes a day at a City of Toronto pool. Lessons will be combined with recreational activities.
Specialty Camp: TennisCampers will develop the fundamentals of tennis. A minimum of 2 hours a day will be focused on developing skills such as a forehand, back hand and serving.
Specialty Camp: Visual ArtsExplore a wide variety of art mediums as campers learn the secrets of painting, sketching, drawing and much more.
Specialty Camp: VolleyballCampers will develop the fundamentals of volleyball. A minimum of 2 hours a day will be focused on developing skills such as bumping, setting and serving.
Counsellor-in-Training Youth aged 13-17 yrs will be introduced to the fundamentals of being a City of Toronto Camp Counsellor. Participants will experience in-class exercises and a supervised practical placement in a City of Toronto summer camp in addition to other camp activities. Participants will complete a self-evaluation and will receive a formal evaluation from City staff. Those who successfully complete the program according to the expectations and guidelines will receive a certificate of completion.
As this is a registered program, participants will not receive credit for volunteer hours. For information on volunteer opportunities, contact your local Community Centre.
Toronto Island Park CampsThe Toronto Island Park provides a unique outdoor camp experience in a natural setting within the city. Camp sessions are planned around activities based on Eco related themes exploring the natural surroundings of the Island. Each camp will include nature and environmental studies, crafts, centre island maze, Gibraltar Point Lighthouse, tram ride, fishing, boating and swimming on various beaches.
General InformationCamp Hours and Ferry Rides• Camp operates daily from 9am-4pm • Extended hours and busing is not available at
this site • The cost of the ferry transportation is included
in the cost of the camps. Drop-off occurs on city side outside the Jack Layton Ferry terminal, campers will be brought across on the ferry with staff. Campers will be brought back on the ferry with staff and pick-up will occur on city side outside the ticket booths at the Jack Layton Ferry terminal.
Rainy days Toronto Island Day Camps operate rain or shine. In the event of a thunderstorm or rainy day, campers will be transported to sheltered facilities located on the island.
We’re Environmentally Friendly All activities at camp are environmentally friendly. To further support our efforts in reducing waste, we ask that when packing your child’s lunch, be mindful of the overuse of packaging and disposable materials. Reusable water bottles are highly recommended.
Camp DescriptionsFranklin Jr Sprouts Camp Spend the morning with your child at our Franklin Children’s Garden. Child and caregivers meet in the city and take the ferry over with a Franklin Garden expert. The activities include storytelling, bug identification, organic gardening, eco and nature studies and crafts. All activities are eco based, campers will learn more about the environment and around them through hands on activities. This program is intended solely for the camper registered in the program, 1:1 ratio required.
Island Drama Participants will explore an opportunity to learn performing techniques and a variety of exercises in the Island theatre. In addition participants will be able to explore the Island amenities including canoeing and an ecology component.
Island Ecologist Participants will have the opportunity to engage in outdoor education in the vegetation and wildlife on the island. Staff will provide eco based programming which will provide participants the knowledge of edible species, the how to of growing, and surviving in the wilderness. As well, an arts and crafts component will be incorporated into the camp, using eco-friendly materials.
Island Sports Participants will have the opportunity to develop skills and become experts in a variety of outdoors sports including but not limited to beach volleyball, soccer and frisbee golf on the Island course. In addition participants will be able to explore the Island amenities including canoeing and the lighthouse tour.
Island Explorer Campers will explore all the Toronto Islands have to offer by learning environmental skills in the outdoors. Participants will explore the lighthouse and organic gardening in the Franklin Children’s Garden. Campers will also learn boating skills in both canoes and kayaks; orienteering; and eco activities including nature exploration. Campers will also take part in the arts through an environmental lens. An island tram tour will provide an opportunity to explore everything the island has to offer.
Island Voyageur Campers will explore the challenges of being a voyageur on the water. Campers will learn how to canoe and kayak on the Toronto Islands including skills such as J stroke, C stroke, portaging skills from our boathouse to the Gibraltar lighthouse and Snake Island. Campers will also learn how to fish including finding effective sites, how to thread a line, casting and setting the hook. Campers will learn about the indigenous wildlife on the islands and will take part in the arts through an environmental lens. An island tram tour will provide an opportunity to explore everything the island has to offer.

Camps at Historic SitesMuseum Camps offer children an opportunity to explore the past through hands-on activities, express themselves through artistic endeavours and engage with the unique environments of our museums – all in a safe and fun atmosphere.
Things to knowAge RequirementsCampers must be the required age by the start of the program.
Extended HoursExtended hours have a separate barcode for registration. Refer to program charts for times, fees and locations.
FormsTo ensure that all campers have the best possible experience, a Camper Information Form and related documents must be submitted to the museum 2 weeks before the start of camp. An information package will be mailed to you.
Lunches and SnacksChildren must bring their own snacks and lunch. In order to reduce the risk of exposure to nut allergies, we recommend participants bring nut-free snacks and lunches to camps. Participants should bring a refillable, non-breakable water bottle with them.
StaffCamp activities are directed by seasonal university students with experience in creative children’s programming and/or experienced interpretive staff who work year round at our museums with our school and community groups. Staff participate in training which includes child management, appropriate program planning, risk management, inclusion and support and much more. Staff are certified in Emergency First Aid.
SupervisionWe implement a standard staff ratio for all camps. Staff are dedicated to providing safe, fun and educational experiences.
Inclusion and SupportIf participants require 1:1 support for behavioural, personal or medical care, they will be requested to provide their own support worker/family member/ volunteer. Contact the individual museum for more information.

DescriptionsSpadina House MuseumArt Makers Kids explore Art Nouveau to Art Deco through collage, sculpture, drawing, painting and printmaking in this inspirational setting which includes acres of gardens, green space and orchards as well as a mansion restored to the 1920s and 30s. Campers will create an exhibit of their work for family and friends to enjoy.
Art Monsters Monsters are everywhere in art! Explore the amazing beasts that appear in various art forms from ancient mythical creatures to the monsters that invaded movie theatres in the early days of cinema. Kids are inspired in this historic setting which includes acres of gardens, green space and orchards as well as a mansion restored to the 1920s and 30s. Working with various art media, campers create an exhibit of their own monster creations for family and friends.
Safari Camp A small camp ensures every child has a positive and personal experience. Children explore a new and different theme each day through games, storytelling, creating great art projects, and enjoying hands-on activities like historic cooking, garden exploration and dress up play.
SNAP! Photo CampKids will take photos in this beautiful and unique setting which includes acres of gardens, green space and orchards as well as a mansion restored to the 1920s and 30s. They will explore the experimental techniques used during the birth of this art form and will create an exhibit to be enjoyed by friends and family. All the photographic equipment necessary will be provided. Campers will need to provide a USB key for their photos.
