CelPlanner’s WiMax/WiFi module structure consists of user-configurable radios that model differenttechnologies and bandwidths. The module supports multiple operation schemes (link adaptation) within eachconfiguration as well as multiple channel bandwidths and operating frequencies. Sites can have multiple sectorswith mixed, that is, radios using different technologies can be installed on the same sector.
Three technologies are defined by default, Wi-Fi 802.11a-OFDM, Wi-Max 802.16d-OFDM and WiMax802.16e-OFDMA, but, in addition to these suggestions, users can also work with other flavors of OFDM systemsby editing the radio parameters. Both TDD and FDD duplexing is available.
The tool supports both WiMax 802.16d, mostly used for fixed and nomadic applications, and 802.16e, dedicatedto portable and mobile applications, using mostly OFDMA sub-channelization. The scalability of the number ofOFDMA sub-carriers is also fully supported by the flexible user interface available for radio configuration in theradio library dialog.
