2009. The arrival of a luminous

figure prior to the creation of
a British crop circle.

A new infra-red film that could change the way
we see crop circlesNew surveillance footage from researcher
Winston Keech taken at nightin East Field, Alton Barnes, Wiltshire
has revealed an extraordinaryunexpected scene. The incident began
in East Field Alton Barnes at12.24am on 14th July 2009. A bright
flash captured clearly on infra-redfilm, when slowed down, shows
two distinct aerial sphere UFOsentering the perimeter of the field.
At the very moment of their arrival agiant flash explodes for
fractions of a second revealing thesimultaneous arrival of two self
contained beams of light. A very largehumanoid figure flashes white
in the field, one that towers over the crop.
The overall bulk of the figure could be compared to the size and
bulk ofvery large upright fridge freezer, perhaps 9 foot tall by
comparison toheights of known structures such as the height of the
crop line itself andthe height of the human hoaxers who arrive just
after.
There are two of these tall humanoid figures that appear to
floatintelligently among the tramlines and hold a very specific
position in thefield where the basket crop circle (seen left) is
imminent. These figuresremain on film floating about the field
until they depart in another flashat 1.44am. The crucial images are
only captured on Winstons highpower infra-red surveillance
equipment. Other high resolution camerasoperating simultaneously
only capture the 4 human hoaxers operatingin the empty field. This
absence on normal high intensity film defines
the tall humanoids as physically different in nature, out of
phase with everything else captured in the one hour twenty minute
filmsequence. Perhaps they are total net absorbers of visible light
without reflection, appearing jet black in normal light, though
illuminatedon infra-red.
To merely call these tall humanoids observers, may underestimate
their role as upon their arrival at 12.24am the
extraordinarypeculiarity of this unique film becomes apparent. Four
crop circle hoaxers are seen to proceed across the field to a place
exactly wherethese figures are standing before commencing their
work; it is as if they are being mind controlled to perform their
actions. Thehoaxers are observed by the figures throughout, the
tall figures floating around the formation and hoaxers to gain new
vantage points. At certain points they stand right next to the
hoaxers who seem completely oblivious to their presence. This
surveillance film of cropcircle formation by proxy will be shown at
our October conference, on the 29th and 30th of October at the Spa
complex inScarborough.
Commentary by FSR: What an important shock this film is for all
concerned. Winstons surveillance findings reveal the infamous
cropcircle hoaxers at work; Winstons hi-tech approach to
surveillance is perhaps unique in that it captures an act of
hoaxing unbeknownto the hoaxers. We see their actual rate of work,
which is laboured due to the complexity of a main three man team,
involved in criss-
crossing the wheat implicit in this basket weave crop circle
design. It looksas if their slow work rate suggests the ability to
create the vastly large andhighly complex formations is beyond
them, (as are thermic soildehydration, carbonisation and magnetite
particles, and the exponentialoutward distribution of blown stalk
nodes that accompany genuine circles).
It now appears that it was the hoaxers on this occasion that
were the merepawns of a far greater deception. Human tools used by
intelligent tallhumanoids originating from just outside the visible
physical realm, in theultra far-red spectrum. For many years this
journal has consistentlystated that we are highly vulnerable to
mental manipulation by theintelligences behind the UFO phenomenon
and that these beings areright here cloaked outside our visual
spectrum. If the hoaxers wereindeed under direct mental influence
in creating and placing a crop circleby proxy, then it is an
unequivocal statement for us to pay attention. Wemust consider what
this act of apparent mind control means: they canpatently induce
any mental decision process by our brains.
Winston has noted that there was very high humidity both on the
night of14th July 2009 (and also on 7th July 2007) when he filmed
the formation of
the 777 crop circle, a design of many hundreds of feet in
diameter. Were the water droplets on both occasions making it
easier for aform of high frequency radar beam to teleport
information into our space from somewhere else? When the 777 was
filmed onsurveillance footage by Winston it appeared to have been
laid down directly into the field in a period of twenty minutes,
accompaniedby a flash at the start of the sequence. So perhaps
these two films show both sides of the crop circle origin using
both direct and indirectmeans, in this case by human proxy, to make
the circles. So where does this new surveillance film leave the
crop circle researchcommunity? Crop circle researchers like our
selves are wrestling with media credibility and a tiny
under-resourced research community.Showing a formation is the work
of hoaxers apparently influenced by alien humanoids is going to
cause major upset. Having listenedto researchers, many have trouble
accepting the lifting of the lid on the mystery by Winstons camera
technology. It does not fit thepopular vision that the architect of
a cosmic plan for humanity could be created by alien technology
rather than mother nature ormanifested by spirit. It goes against
the popular view of a divine message among crop circle enthusiasts.
What if there is in fact anothermore subtle, secretive crop circle
arena: an elaborately laid test-bed for human discovery of alien
processes, to lure us ever closer tothe alien space they occupy and
for the few among us who seek this knowledge: to approach them?

British crop circle a week earlierTaken from

On July 7th 2009 at approximately 5.00am a Wiltshire Police
Sergeant was driving in his private car towards Marlborough on
theA4 highway and about to pass Silbury Hill on his left. He looked
to his right and witnessed three exceptionally tall
beingsinspecting the new crop circle which appeared there on the
5th July. He stopped his vehicle and watched them for
severalminutes because they stood out as odd.
At first he thought they were forensic officers as they were
dressed in white coveralls. He stopped his car and approached
thefield. The figures were all over 6ft and had Blonde hair. They
seemed to be inspecting the crop. When he got to the edge of
thefield he heard what he believed to be a sound not dissimilar to
static electricity. This crackling noise seemed to be
runningthrough the field and the crop was moving gently, close to
where the noise was moving. He felt the hair on his arms and backof
his neck raise up. He shouted to the figures from a distance of
about 400 yards who at first ignored him, not glancing at him. When
he tried to enter the field they looked up and began running. He
said They ran faster than any man I have ever seen. Imno slouch but
they were moving so fast. I looked away for a second and when I
looked back they were gone. I then got scared. The noise was still
around, but I got an uneasy feeling and headed for the car. For the
rest of the day I had a pounding headacheI couldnt shift.

One of Winstons giant humanoids is illuminated by a flash
travelling from just in front of it, then moving toward the
camera.East Field is an extremely large expanse of space so
something has to literally be towering over or indeed levitating
above the
crop to stand out and to be so brightly illuminated by the flash
at such a distance.

Further comments by the original investigator.
The beings sounded not too dissimilar to beings
ArthurShuttlewood encountered in Warminster, and the presence ofthe
static electricity running along the ground wasdocumented in these
encounters too.
Having driven the route with the officer several times,
severalthings became apparent: When we arrived at the locationwhere
he parked his car (side of the road) he pointed to wherethe beings
were, according to the officer one was very near thebrow of the
hill, one was a few yards further down in a differenttramline, and
one was about halfway down the slight hill. So Iasked the
$64,000,000 question about the fact that theformation couldnt be
seen from the road. His response wasthat he knew prior to the
experience there was a formationsomewhere over there (he had heard
this discussed) and heknew they had been in it. He knew they were
inspecting thecrop. When questioned how he knew he said that you
knowwhat day of the week it is, but no-one has told you, you
haventseen a calendar, you just know. Did he have some
psychicawareness? Was something communicated to him? This is aman
who views the world in the black and white of the letter ofthe law,
this is a man whose testimony can imprison someone,in my humble
opinion he is not taken to flights of fancy with
metaphysical concepts. I am reminded of Mike Boothsexperience of
seeing some objects working on creating acircle in a field and the
psychic element of that experience. Ithink his original statement
of figures in the formation was ageneralization based on his
knowledge and what we havelearned later. I also think that if his
motive was to create a storyhe wouldnt have fallen for this basic
error, his story wouldhave knitted together better.
We moved on to the figures running away at speed. If two ofthem
were so close to the brow of the hill, how much runningwould he
actually see? One of them would have disappearedinstantly as they
were near the brow of the hill. He says thatthey moved very fast,
as if you were watching a video or DVDin fast forward mode. This
would have been noticeable for thebeing farthest from the hill
brow. As we spoke I watched thehairs on the officers arms raise as
he relived the experience inhis mind. When I asked whether they ran
away out of sight ordisappeared he was adamant they disappeared. He
claimedhe glanced away for a second and his claims that the
beingthat was the furthest away was not near enough the brow ofthe
hill for him to run out of view despite his rapid movement.Again,
there is a deep knowing they disappeared. As westood by the side of
the road he became very nervous of thepeople gathering at the busy
Silbury Hill car park, I believe thisexperience has left a mark
deeper than he realizes.
After showing me where he tried to enter the field we drove
tohis home. We drove the route, and relived the experienceseveral
times. The last three times I timed the route, and askedhim about
how long each stage of the experience lasted, andfor the three
journeys I timed we have a five minutediscrepancy. Now, even
allowing for a busier road (it wasMarlborough Jazz festival last
weekend) and how quiet itwould have been the morning of the
experience, the timingsdo not add up and I believe wehave five
minutes missing time.
As a clinical hypnotherapist I havedone quite a bit of work
withexperiencers over the years so Ihave got quite adept at
spottingmissing time. His wife also verifiesthe time of his arrival
home on thatday, and it tallies with my belief

there is at least five minutes missing time. At the moment
theofficer does not wish to explore this missing time.
After the experience the officer suffered what he
calledpoltergeist experiences. Several electrical items began
tomalfunction and there were strange knocks at the front door. When
the officer answered the door there would be no-onethere. The
officer felt he had brought something home withhim, several days
after the experience he said that he had felta presence within his
home. Sometimes, when walking outto the kitchen, he said he saw in
his minds eye a briefflash of a towering black figure (approx 8ft)
standingbefore him. These types of events are quite common
withexperiencers.
A few days after the experience the officer felt there
werepieces of the experience coming to mind that he was not atfirst
aware of. He came to believe that the beings wereidentical, in a
clone-like manner but also sharedintelligence, almost in a
hive-like mentality. He alsobelieves that these beings were not
responsible for this orany crop circle. He also went on to state
that he shouldnthave seen what he had seen, and believes this
wascommunicated to him at the time. He doesnt know wherethis
information came from and these concepts andthoughts are outside
his usual frame of reference.
I am quite convinced that the officer had an experience thatday,
and one that we have not fully explored as I think with theunusual
movement of the beings, the missing time and thepoltergeist type
experiences after the event, just to name a few, there is too much
additional information to say this issomething in nothing. I do not
believe the officer has theknowledge to create this story to the
detail he has. A cursoryglance on his bookcase in his living room
and his study revealno books that would suggest a knowledge or
belief in UFOs,parapsychology or the paranormal. His cursory
interest in cropcircles comes from an experience his daughter had
and howcrop circles affect policing in the Wiltshire area
(increasedtraffic, irate farmers, reports of damage to crops
etc).
Through the original release of this information several
peoplehave come forward to claim similar experiences within thesame
area over the last few years. Most of these stories haveexcellent
leads to follow up on. I believe that this area aroundSilbury is
especially important, just as much now as it was forthe original
builders, and I believe we will see more of thesetypes of incidents
in the future. The officer is planning to use apolice sketch artist
from another police authority to produceimages from the
experience.
Editorial: What are these tall humanoids doingin our British
Crop Circles?
The word humanoid was allegedly coined by FSR editorsBowen and
Creighton right at the beginning, of the saucer erawhen these
reports were first coming in. Firstly, to understandthe humanoid
perspective, one must shift to a decisiveposition to make any sense
of the presence of tall blondeextra-dimensional people in our
British fields and in ourhomes. Witnesses have encountered
humanoids repeatedlyhere in the UK since the 1950s, most are too
fearful to comeforward. There is still a conservative element among
UFOresearchers that displays a superior attitude that the very
ideaof human looking aliens being taken seriously is absurd.
Toignore such strong eyewitness statements is to be blind to
newinclusive working models that may seek to explain
thehumanoids.
Here is a recent email to FSR:
I have just read some of the articles in your FSR pages andthose
of contact. I just wondered about my own experiencewhich took place
towards the beginning of 2009.
I was asleep in my bedroom, when for some unknown reasonI was to
find myself suddenly and startlingly awake.
This all took place in the hours of darkness. As I came into
theconscious state, there standing at the bottom of my bed,
weretwo, human like figures. I would estimate their heightsomewhere
around at least 6 feet, both were identicallydressed in seemed in a
one piece long flowing robes, colourseemed something like Oatmeal
with maybe small dots all overthe material. Their hair seemed also
identical, long and fair, orblond, it was hard to say in the gloom
the only light comingfrom the outside of my bedroom windows.
Then it seemed I realised what had awoken me, it was theireyes,
very dark (Black) and I felt boring right into me. I gavewhat I
will call a loud reflex shout, and at that point the twofigures
just disappeared either into thin air or through the wall.My wife
heard me shout, I told her what I had just awoken to.
My first sighting of a Flying Saucer was in broad daylight in
theearly 1950's but we have seen other objects over the years.
Ioften wondered as I looked up at this silver circular
flyingobject, did anyone on board look down at me? Who knows?Well
that is my story, I have no idea who or what those twobeings were,
or what dimension they may have visited from.
FSR 50/4 featured acontact case fromJuly 1994 at thesame point
ofobservation asWinston Keechsinfra-red footage inEast Field. Six
tallblonde cloneswearing nuns cowlsinteracted with afemale witness
onthat occasion aftershe observed themswaying as ifdancing
information in thefield. When askedwhat they weredoing they
statedthat they weredowsing andfeeling the energyunder their
feet.
A selection of the most pertinent descriptive details
include:the medieval pageboy hair styling, the near identical faces
withblue eyes, the large robust facial anatomy and deep set
eyes, the pallid complexion with blonde hair, and the
characteristicDutch-German accents. The beings proceeded to
disappearbehind the witness two at a time, as she watched them
fromher car wing mirror.
What limits the written word is the absence of direct
contactwith the experience by even the learned reader, in the case
ofthe humanoid encounter, an alien person seen in plain visionis
all that is needed to be wholly aware of what is, rather
thanendless circular debates of what cannot be. The fiction
forcountless Britons is to have no concept at all that
encountershappen, to be ignorant that people are reporting tall
uprightmen and women like us and far less of these small alien
greys. If FSR has a key function it is to break with the
perceivedwisdom, if what is perceived to be true is found to be
weak anddoes not account for the reported core evidence.
The key question in July 2009 is why these particularhumanoids
were seen in British crop circles? If we look at thepolicemens
story he observed an electrostatic environment
The July 1994 figure
-
crackling over the crop circle as the alien figures stood in
theday old formation. There was also a characteristic rising
andfalling to the crop formation, described on other occasions
bywitnesses as a kind of breathing movement. As if an energyfield
was actively emerging from the earth beneath the crop. Were these
humanoids involved in monitoring or creating aspecific
electrostatic process, in effect energising a cropcircle? Winston
Keechs covert humanoid films suggest thatthese humanoids will quite
readily adapt man-made circles fortheir own agenda. Perhaps they
can electro-statically imprintprograms into an existing circle in
order to radiate a specificenergy for a specific purpose.
When we consider the purpose of their clandestine actions,
wemight consider the human effect of what a crop circle visit cando
to someone. Overall most visitors merely have their worldview and
curiosity briefly peaked by a crop circle visit, yet ifone listens
to certain crop circle visitors and compare theirstories to
abductees, and or UFO witnesses a striking similarityemerges. Some
among these people have sudden dramaticperceptual changes in their
lives, radical change in their lifepriorities, in how they feel and
how they live. Their stories arelike listening to spiritual
conversion experiences, where theyreturn home from the circle they
immediately change their job;
they may even leave their spouse and unexplainably
re-editeverything they hold dear. If a crop circle can have an
effect ofthis magnitude, to switch on, convert and overwrite
onesfundamental perspective, splitting open the identity in this
wayis a powerful mind altering tool, acting in a way we do not
yetgrasp.
Are those who become activated intended to go and seek analien
communication as in Close Encounters of the ThirdKind? Are they
especially receptive or susceptible to thisconversion process?
Those who undergo this effect are oftenhighly educated with
established careers; these are nothippies or people who willingly
opt out of society. The cropcircle appears to filter out a small
section of its visitors who arein effect the crop circle
contactees. Is this conversion anextension of a historic grand
program: Warminster in the1960s and 1970s; Adamskis book Flying
Saucers haveLanded both had just the same mass catalytic effect. If
we seethe product of these blonde humanoid spacemen in
theseaccounts, old and new, it is to collude with an inspired
sectorof our society to seek to open up to a cosmic paradigmchange.
Is this an experiment, a crude dress rehearsal toswitch on and
convert humanity to become seekers; is this atechnology capable of
bewitching us as a race?

A newly uncovered alien abduction incident
in Poland, 1976. Omega. Summer 2009.Deep in the Australian
central outback, Yan recounted anincident that occurred back in
Kielce, Poland in the summer of1976. It was his one and only event,
he has not experiencedanything else to this date. In the days
leading up to the event, nothing unusual happened; it was like any
other day,
according to Yan. To begin the events, Yan went to bed asusual
in his first floor apartment. During the early hours of themorning
Yan made a visit to the bathroom. What happened toYan next would
defy human logic.
-
Flying Saucer Review - Spring 2009 7
Omega: I would like to take you back to the event which occurred
in theearly hours of the night, in the summer of 1976.
Yan: I awoke during the night to go to the bathroom, when I was
aboutto return to the bedroom, I noticed a very bright light
streaming throughthe window. It illuminated the whole room.
Omega: What colour was this light, were you afraid?
Yan: No, I wasn't afraid at all. The light was a very bright,
white light. Itwas almost too bright to look at.
Omega: Where was the light emanating from did you see anything
else?
Yan: From the bright light I noticed a being coming through the
light.
Omega: Was the being human like?
Yan: Not really. The being had short, stumpy arms to the elbow,
then verylong, thin for arms. The hand almost reached the floor.
This part of thearm was very long and spindly. The entity had one
eye. Here is a strangething about his eye, when the being was
conveying telepathic thoughtsto me; I noticed there seemed to be
two smaller pupils inside the oneeye. These pupils seemed to move
independently within the main eye.
Omega: Did you notice if the being had fingers and if so, how
many?
Yan: The entity had three fingers and one thumb. The middle
finger wasvery long, but the other two digits either side were
slightly shorter. The
body of the being was covered in small bumps, very similar to a
frog skin. The head of the entity was quite large but it had
noneck. One thing I noticed was it seemed to have a brain or a
bulbous part of the cranium, at the back of his head. This seemedto
radiate much energy, I could see around the head as if the air was
electrically charged.
Omega: What colour was this being?
Yan: I have to say that the entity seemed to have scales or
bumps all over it's body, each scale seemed to be metallic.
Thewhole body seemed to be reflecting bluish light, very similar to
Mother of Pearl. The colour changed slightly.
Omega: What were your feelings at this point?
Yan: I had a very strong feeling of euphoria; I seemed to have a
telepathic voice in my head saying (in Polish) "Stay calmdon'tbe
afraid." At no time did I experience any angst.
Omega: Was there any type of odour accompanying the event?
Yan: Yes, there was a very strong smell of vanilla, very thick
but very pleasant.
Omega: Can you explain what the entities actions were at that
time?
Yan: The 'being' put his hand up with palm facing me. At no time
did he touch me but his palm was very close to my skin. It wasat
this time I could hear a hissing sound, very similar to wasps. The
being seemed to be inspecting me. I felt that his handseemed to
have x-ray abilities.
Omega: Did the being stay in your room or did he leave?
Yan: What happened next was very strange. Myself and the being
started to levitate. We were heading for the closed window;
Ithought I would have to open the window at this time, as we were
very close. Instead, we flew through the closed window
withease.
Omega: Did you levitate up and into a craft?
Yan: No, it was not a craft per se, but a large box of some
kind. The box was as large as a bus. We seemed to fly through
thewalls of the black box. Now, here is another strange thing which
I have tried to work out for quite some time, it is the
dimensions
-
8 Flying Saucer Review - Spring 2009
of the ship, but to this day can not figure it out. When we
werein the box, the inside seemed huge, far larger than the
outsideof the object. Inside there were about twenty or so of
thesebeings. They looked the same as the entity who accompaniedme,
but their sizes were slightly different. They all were aboutthe
same height, about four feet, but some were a little wider, others
were slightly thinner.
Omega: Were you able to hear any sound in the box?
Yan: There was the same sound of a wasp, being given by allof
the entities. It became very loud. At this time, they all cameclose
to me and stood around in a semi circle. All of the beingsheld
their right hand palm facing me, they came very close. Some had
their hand near my feet, other palms near myhands, heart and head.
They seemed to be checking out myinsides. This seemed to be an
x-ray of some kind.
Omega: Were you able to breathe their atmosphere?
Yan: Yes, the air seemed to be thick moisture of some kind. Ihad
the distinct impression that the beings were able toabsorb the
thick atmosphere through their skin, as a type ofnutrient for them.
I thought that maybe I might drown in thisthick fluid and would not
be able to breathe but no, I couldbreathe quite well. Every time
they came close to me I feltwarm. To this day I have an itching
sensation under my skin, where they held their palm close to me. It
feels like electricityor ants crawling under my skin.
Omega: How long were you in the box and how did you returnto
your bedroom?
Yan: I could have been in the ship for about 2 hours, but,
hereis another strange thing time seemed to stand still, I had
no
idea of time, it seemed not to exist. The same entity which
wasresponsible for my abduction, took me back to my room. Wewere
gliding through the walls of the box, then through thewalls of my
bedroom. I then went to sleep.
Omega: How did you sleep?
Yan: I had a very fitful sleep, I am now had a feeling that I
hada brain storm. Flashing images filled my brain, as if
everythingI had seen during my life was being replayed. I felt that
theyopened my brain. I didn't receive anything from them but Ithink
they came to analyze me. The only thing they told mewas to keep
calm, everything would be alright, be happy.
Post-script: Even today, more than thirty years after
theincident, Yan is still troubled by headaches, fitful sleep and
stillexperiences itching sensations under his skin on a daily
basis. In spite of this, Yan has a very positive outlook of his
closeencounter, and says he would willingly go through
theexperience again if the chance came to do so. Of special notein
this case are two important points:
1. The auditory buzzing and itching of the skin that
resemblesthe microwave mental communication theory of
Spanishresearcher Joaquim Fernandes featured in our last
issue53.4.
2. The description of a breathable fluid environment inside
thecraft.
The late U.S. UFO researcher Carla Turner features animportant
discussion by an Austrian scientist and MUFONmember Helmut Lammer
from 1995 on her web sitehttp://www.karlaturner.org. An extract is
featured here:
Tank/tube experiencesby Helmut Lammer Ph.D.:
An extract taken from looking behind the alien/military
abduction agenda.
Dan Wright, head of the MUFON Abduction TranscriptionProject,
reviewed his records concerning tube or tankexperiences of alleged
alien abductees. He found severalcases in his files in which the
abductee saw a tube duringher/his experience, but did not identify
anything or anyoneinside it. In 4 cases abductees described large
clear tubes andrecalled either being placed inside it or seeing
someone elseinside. Two of these 4 abductees saw an alien creature
in thetube. Dan Wright's files reveal 3 cases in which the
abducteewas in a tank filled with liquid and in two cases the
victim wasforced to breathe the liquid! None of the abductees
whoplaced in a tube or tank reported any unusual mind set
likeAndree (out of body experience, remote viewing, or the
like)during their time in these containers. ''Two'' of seven tank
casesreported military involvement, but not on the same night as
thetube or tank episode.
MILAB victim Lisa (pseudonym) had similar tank experienceslike
Dan Wright's alien abductees. She was kidnapped andbrought to a
military underground facility, where she sawnaked humans floating
in tubes. Lisa for instance claims thatshe was forced by humans
into some type of pool filled with agolden yellow bubbly fluid,
while other humans looked at her.Lisa has traumatic recollections
that her kidnappers tried tomake her and other victims able to
breath in the liquid. In twoof the before mentioned cases the
abductee was forced tobreath the liquid like Lisa. The hypnosis
transcripts reveal thatthe liquid breathing experiences were
traumatic for theabductees. Both abductees where totally immersed
in theliquid and both reported that they could breath the
fluid.
Alien abductees, such as Betty Andreason report sometimesthat
they were put inside a tube filled with liquid for thecompensation
of large gravity forces during high UFOacceleration periods. One
abductee of Dan Wright's files
describes such an experience inside such a tube:
''it's like water in there, it's like being in a swimming pool,
onlyI can see through the sides...it feels like we are moving.
Whereare we going? Whoa, thats fast. Feels like we are moving
fast.Oh! And one's standing outside. He's telling me, ''Thats whywe
had to put you in here, because we are moving too
fast.''Acceleration. Something about gravity forces being too
much.''
It is interesting to note that under hypnosis this
abducteereported how the abductors put something in her nose
beforethey put her in the tube. This means that this abductee was
notforced to breathe the liquid. Recent scientific studies of
visualand photographic sightings of UFOs carrying out
''impossible''high speed manoeuvres by Dr. Bruce Maccabee
wouldsupport such gravity force compensation tube experiences ifthe
abductee was indeed in a real UFO. Dr. Bruce Maccabeestated in his
article ''Acceleration'', that an UFOnaut orabductee inside a UFO
accelerating at 500 g's would bepushed by the walls of the craft
with a force that would makehim seem weigh almost 500 times his
weight on Earth. Thebody of an abductee might be crushed at that
acceleration, and the skin might be pulled off the bones, unless the
humanwas suspended in a liquid and the lungs and other bodycavities
were filled with liquid!
FSR Comment: The long standing question of whether thereare
lethal effects of extreme acceleration on board UFOs
isscientifically tackled in this issue by science author
JohnDuffield. Duffield has written a very enjoyable and
accessiblebook on Einsteins theories and more called

IgorWitkowski in recent issues, FSR will continue to publish
rationalscientific reasoning on the flying saucer. A

Flying Saucer Review - Spring 2009 9
When I see apicture ofMandelbrot cropcircles, my eyesroll. When
I seesomebody toutingsome UFO hub-cap home movie,I sigh. And when
Ihear peopletalking aboutabductions andimplants and leylines, I
have to sayI groan. The
reason is there's tons of chaff out there, and it buries
thegolden nuggets, and gives UFOs a bad name. Let's get onething
clear: UFOs exist. There are objects in our skies that
areunidentified, and they are flying. Some might turn out to
bebirds, others might be planes. Some will be balloons, ormeteors,
or the planet Venus. But not all. When an airline pilotsays he was
buzzed by something that turned on a sixpence,I take it seriously.
I remain alert to reports that involve rapidacceleration,
particularly from multiple impartial witnesses. Ihave a special
reason for this. Eleven years ago in July 1998,I was enjoying a
last cigarette at the back of the house. It wasa clear night, and
the stars were burning bright. I noticed onestar that appeared to
be moving, very slowly, from north tosouth. At first I wondered if
it was a satellite, but then I decidedit was an aircraft. As I
watched, I was a little surprised to seeanother star moving from
the south towards it. They didn'tmeet; instead when they were a
thumbnail apart they changeddirection instantly. Suddenly the first
star was tracking east, theother one west. It wasn't much to look
at, but I felt a shiver asI said to myself: planes don't do that. I
ran for my camera andtook a series of pictures, but they came out
black, so I have noevidence. When I've told people about it, all
too often theresponse is an indulgent smile. But I know what I saw,
andever since then, I've been curious about how an object in thesky
can defy the laws of physics. But that was then, this is now,and
now I know how they do it.
Imagine you're in a spacecraft travelling at a constant
velocity. You'd be floating around pushing yourself off the walls,
doingsomersaults and playing games with globules of water.
Nowimagine that I magic up a planet beneath you, and you
startfalling towards it. You're still weightless, you don't feel
the forceof gravity, and you wouldn't notice any change in
directionunless you looked out of the window. In a way you're
notreally accelerating - the principle of equivalence
comparesacceleration with the force you feel when you're standingon
the ground, not with the free-fall situation. You continueto fall
in an arc towards the planet, then with a snap of myfingers I make
the planet go away, and you continue travellingin a new direction.
We can repeat this scenario with a smallerdenser planet that
provides a more intense gravitational field,so tightening the
curve, but at no point will you be thrownaround like in a swerving
car. You don't feel a thing, becauseyou're in free-fall all the
time. When we replace the planetwith an artificially-generated
gravitational field, you end up
making sharp turns without being mashed against the insideof
your spaceship. Thus you defy inertia. If we employ
anartificially-generated gravitational field in opposition to
theEarth's, you defy gravity too.
It's important to appreciate here that when Einstein came upwith
general relativity in 1916, he was talking about theequations of
motion, not curved space-time. Curved space-time was popularised by
Robert H. Dicke in the sixties, and it'sthe effect, not the cause.
To understand this, think in terms ofa boating lake, where I've
previously dumped a truckload ofgelatine powder all down the left
hand side. You wind up aclockwork boat and send it beetling up the
lake, and younotice it veers over to the left. That's because
there's aviscosity gradient from left to right. The boat represents
aphoton, and the path of the boat represents curved space-time. But
the cause of that curved path, is a gradient in space. It's actually
a gradient in vacuum impedance Z0 = (0/e0)wherein the speed of
light is c = (1/e00).
The speed of light varies, andthat's why light curves and
whythings fall down. If you've everheard of pair productionyou'll
know that a photon canbe employed to make anelectron and a
positron. Theelectron exhibits spin andangular momentum, and youcan
think of it as a clockworkboat with the rudder jammedhard over.
Wind it up and set it
down on the boating lake, and it goes round and round incircles.
But whenever it's heading up or down the lake, it'sveering slightly
over to the left because of the viscositygradient. Hence it works
its way over to the left-hand side. Itreally is like this, and
surprisingly, it goes all the way back toNewton. If you've got a
copy of Opticks, check out queries 20and 21, and what you read is
this:
"Doth not this aethereal medium in passing out of water,
glass, crystal, and other compact and dense bodies in empty
spaces, grow denser and denser by degrees, and by that means
refractthe rays of light not in a point, but by bending them
gradually incurve lines? Is not this medium much rarer within the
densebodies of the Sun, stars, planets and comets, than in the
emptycelestial space between them? And in passing from them togreat
distances, doth it not grow denser and denserperpetually, and
thereby cause the gravity of those great bodiestowards one another,
and of their parts towards the bodies;every body endeavouring to go
from the denser parts of themedium towards the rarer?"
He got the energy density back to front, but it's close
enough, and in query 30 you can even read him anticipating
pairproduction with "Are not gross bodies and light convertible
intoone another?" Even more surprising is the fact that
Einsteintalked about the variable speed of light. See chapter 22
ofRelativity: The Special and General Theory. What you read
isthis:
"In the second place our result shows that, according to
thegeneral theory of relativity, the law of the constancy of
thevelocity of light in vacuo, which constitutes one of the
twofundamental assumptions in the special theory of relativity
andto which we have already frequently referred, cannot claim
anyunlimited validity. A curvature of rays of light can only take
placewhen the velocity of propagation of light varies with
position.
UFOs and antigravityby John Duffield

10 Flying Saucer Review - Spring 2009
Now we might think that as a consequence of this, the
specialtheory of relativity and with it the whole theory of
relativity wouldbe laid in the dust. But in reality this is not the
case. We canonly conclude that the special theory of relativity
cannot claiman unlimited domain of validity; its results hold only
so long aswe are able to disregard the influences of gravitational
fields onthe phenomena (e.g. of light)".
Einstein didn't actually use the word velocity. He spokeGerman,
and the word he used was geschwindigkeit. It meansboth speed and
velocity, and since the postulate of specialrelativity was the
constant speed of light, this is Einsteintelling us the speed of
light varies, and that's why thingsfall down. UFOs don't fall down,
and they aren't riding onreaction thrust like a rocket, or winging
it on deflected airflowlike an aircraft. Instead they're using
antigravity. They cangenerate a gravitational field and use it to
turn corners andoppose the earth's gravitational field. It might
sound likescience fiction, but it's simple. It's like there's a
little man inyour clockwork boat throwing jello bombs into the
water tomake the boat veer to the right. You've even seen a form
ofantigravity already. It's called diamagnetic levitation.
Thepyrolytic carbon floating above the magnets isn't a magnet, and
it doesn't fall down:
Note however thatthis operates via the" h e l i c o p t e r
"principle, which is alittle clunky. There'sa far more
elegant"dirigible" principlewhich gets rightdown to thefundamentals
ofelectrodynamics. Itgoes back toMaxwell andFaraday, but there'sa
nice clue inM i n k o w s k i ' swrench. Take a lookat his Space
andTime paper, and twopages from the end, there's this:
"Then in the description of the field produced by the electronwe
see that the separation of the field into electric andmagnetic
force is a relative one with regard to the underlyingtime axis; the
most perspicuous way of describing the twoforces together is on a
certain analogy with the wrench inmechanics, though the analogy is
not complete".
This analogy issaying an electricfield is a "twistfield", and if
youmove through it orit moves throughyou, you see amagnetic
field, which is a "turnfield". This is whywe havegenerators
anddynamos, and theright-hand rule:
To understand this, think of a single electron. It exhibits
aspherical electric field. Now think of a string of
electronsarranged in a vertical line. The electric field is more
cylindrical. Now move down the line of electrons, and you see this
electric
field as a magnetic field. It's the same when the electrons
movepast you as per the current going up the wire. For some
realhands-on intuitive grasp, find a drill-bit or a reamer
whichexhibits a twist. Grip it in your right hand, put your left
thumbon the bottom of it, and push. It turns. The electric field
doesn'tcreate the magnetic field, it's the same thing. That's why
it's theelectromagnetic field. People say it's fundamental, but it
isn'tfundamental enough, because you create electrons with
theirelectromagnetic field via pair production. You started with
aphoton, and to get right down to the true fundamentals wehave to
look at a photon more closely. It exhibits a
sinusoidalelectromagnetic field variation like this:
Whilst the positive and negative fieldvariation means there's no
charge, itdoes tell us that there's current goingfirst one way then
the other. It'salternating current, which is why
impedance Z0 = (0/e0) applies. Since we're talking abouttwist
and turn, and since the photon conveys energy, andsince the
dimensionality of energy is pressure x volume, thephoton's
sinusoidal field-variation is giving us the shape of apressure
pulse propagating through space at c:
It's essentially a space warp, akin to a lemon, in that the
twistrises to a maximum a quarter-way along its length, and
thengoes to zero at the midpoint, then to a maximum the other
way,and finally back to zero. The pressure "conditions"
thesurrounding space, which you can see better in the cubic-lattice
drawing below:
The electromagnetic field is where the squares are twisted outof
true, and the gravitational field is the surrounding
pressuregradient. The pressure alters permittivity e0 which
is"twistability", and also the permeability 0, the reciprocal
ofwhich is "turnability". In essence it makes space stronger. Atthe
fundamental level, gravity is the result of a gradient invacuum
impedance Z0 = (0/e0) wherein the speed of lightc = (10/e0) is
subject to a similar gradient. Gravity doesn'tcause the
gravitational time dilation that reduces the non-localspeed of
light. That's back to front - we use the motion of lightto
calibrate our clocks. It's the gradient in the speed of light

that causes gravity. And it's energy that causes thegradient in
the speed of light.
It's a little like the rubber-sheet analogy. Get rid of the
bowlingball and tie a knot in the rubber sheet instead. The
knotrepresents the matter/energy of a planet, and surrounding it
isa tension gradient. Now turn the rubber sheet into a rubberblock,
and flip things around so it's under pressure rather thantension.
The planet is creating a pressure gradient in thesurrounding space.
As an aside, there's also a gradient in therelative strength of
electromagnetic force versus the strongforce, as demonstrated by
the fact that the fine structureconstant a = e/2e0hc is a "running"
constant, meaning gravityis itself an exhibition of the unification
of the forces.
So how do we actually make a pressure gradient? It's
actuallyvery simple, we do it every day. Radio engineers know
allabout it. It's the "near field", the region close to a
transmitter.It's what's called an evanescent wave. It's a standing
wave, like a bow wave on a boat or a bridge pier. There's even one
inyour kitchen, in your microwave cooker. But that's too small, and
is merely a by-product. Instead of throwing out a signaland
dissipating most of the power in an outgoing pressurepulse, we want
to keep it there and pump it up. Whilst themagnetron in your
microwave is like blowing a whistle, whatwe want to do is blow up a
balloon. That's why it's akin to adirigible. We need to pump up the
pressure and let thegradient counteract the earth's gravitational
field. We needradio wavelengths for this, because the near-field
region istypically half a wavelength in extent. And we need
somepower. We're probably talking big current and big voltage, so
Idon't feel like messing around in my garage. To get the
ballrolling we lean a short-wave HRS antenna on its side, we set
ahosepipe flowing and watch the arc of water. Once we've
gotsomething basic going, we then figure out how to handle it sowe
can do a fast inflation then swing round the gradient to turnon a
sixpence. There's doubtless lessons already learned fromradar here.
Magnetrons are used in radar, along withconsiderable computing
power. We need to turn thatcomputing power around to set the pulse
location andintensity instead of decoding a signal. Then we ramp
things upa little. Think medium wave. Think long wave.
Of course, there is no free lunch. Think back to that
circlingclockwork boat working its way over to the left-hand-side
ofthe lake. Only half the cycle is heading up or down the
lake, which is why light is deflected twice as much as matter.
Butmore to the point, once it's over on the left hand side, the
boatis circling slower. Some of the circling motion was
converted
into lateral motion, and in similar vein the kinetic energy of
afalling body comes from the body itself. Neglecting airresistance,
the body will hit the earth at 11 km/s. That's a lot ofkinetic
energy, and it's been bled out of the body by virtue ofthe reducing
c. Assuming the body survives the impact andcools down, its total
energy is now less than it was in freespace. And if we use
antigravity to lift that body, we aren'tputting any energy back.
Lift it too far, too fast, and everyatom of that body is going to
go cold. We're talking deepcold here, limb-shattering cold. So
we'll have to take care. But it won't get in our way, not now we
know how simple it allis. Not now we can see what was always there
in specialrelativity: electrons are made of light, along with
protons, andour rods and clocks. We are made of light. That's why
wealways measure the speed of light to be the same, and why wecan
never go faster than light. That won't get in our way
either, because of the time dilation, so the road lies open. A
coldwind's been blowing, but now the future is bright. Doesanybody
know anybody with a few radio and radar engineerson the staff? And
who's up for a trip to Mars? After that wewon't be reaching for
Mars any more. I look up to the night skyand feel another shiver:
we'll be reaching for the stars.
A summary of Johns theory in laymans terms:
If you are walking in the snow, and the snow is deepertowards
your left hand side, then there will be more dragon your left foot.
(If you haven't walked in snow, imaginewalking in wet mud instead).
This means your left foot willbe inclined to take slightly shorter
steps because of theextra drag of the snow. So you will tend to
veer to the left, towards where the snow is deeper.
That is similar to how gravity works in three dimensions.Gravity
in space is like the depth of snow over a field, thedrag depends on
the depth of the snow. If the depth ofsnow varies from one side to
the other side of the field, then the drag will be different. This
difference in drag iscalled a "viscosity gradient".
UFO's operate by manipulating this "viscosity gradient" inspace.
It's similar to someone throwing extra snow in frontof them, more
towards one side of their path, to alter theirspeed and
direction.
Gravity is normally thought of as curved space-time, but
itscaused by a gradient in space, which in turn is caused by
thecentral matter-energy of a planet. We can counter this
gradientusing a magnetic field to keep a frog suspended in the air.
Itscalled diamagnetic levitation and it works like a
helicopter.Diamagnetic levitation is like a corkscrew, but think in
terms ofa corkscrew motion rather than a force. Think of a
wirecorkscrew, akin to a helical spring, and a small ring,
Assumingno friction, that ring will slide round and round and down
likea helter-skelter. Now rotate the corkscrew and the ring
goesround and round but not down. The corkscrew is going
upinstead
However a better way to counter the gradient is to use
theevanescent wave which surrounds a radio transmitter. Thisworks
like a dirigible balloon. The point is that you dont wantany radio
output. Ideally we want a way to create theevanescent wave without
radiating any power. By doing so ina controlled fashion you can
defy gravity and inertia, but if youclimb too fast you go too cold
because you arent adding anyenergy to the system.

I grew up around Loran Radar Stations, and from what I knowabout
'free electric current' it does produce density that isdefinitely
noticeable in many different ways. We would jokinglyplay catch with
volcanic rocks close to the radar stations justbecause it altered
the physics of how the rocks flew, not bymuch, but strangely enough
to have fun as a kid.
Kodiak Island is full of volcanic or porous rock materials,
whichmakes them prone to electromagnetic influence I guess,
andlighter than normal rocks, which seems to help. We just
likedlobbing them up into the air and watching them fall. They
justtumbled wrong. Not a suspension, not a push, just...
slightlyoff... different. You would see them go up and come down
alljust the same, but their behaviour for doing so was likewatching
a professional tumbler jump and have their inner ear
flood mid jump and use their training to keep their fall
stable, though it now lacked all signs of grace. That's the best way
Ican think of to describe it".
LORAN (LOng RAnge Navigation) is a terrestrial radionavigation
system using low frequency radio transmitters thatuses multiple
transmitters (multilateration) to determinelocation and/or speed of
the receiver. The current version ofLORAN in common use is LORAN-C,
which operates in the lowfrequency portion of the EM spectrum from
90 to 110 kHz.Many nations are users of the system, including the
UnitedStates, Japan, and several European countries. Russia uses
anearly identical system in the same frequency range, calledCHAYKA.
LORAN use is in steep decline, with GPS being theprimary
replacement.

A possible clue for a "near field" in the region
close to a transmitter evanescent wave.A chance conversation
about radar by John revealed the following important description
from a witness:
Where are the unopened opened UK files? After an announcement in
December 2007 of a three yearrolling program for the staged release
of the BritishGovernments official UFO files, May and October 2008,
Marchand August 2009 saw in the first two phases of this
release.Even the most gullible of ufologists understood that
theseboring dusty old files, bursting with insignificance, did
notrepresent the cases of consequence.
Russell Kellett now presents an important new and alternativeUK
file for those of us in the British public who have thematurity to
acknowledge the alien threat is real, as illustratedin this new
case from the 1955. NATO and Soviet strategic air
command potentially set the full weight of their air forces
oncollision course as both mistook a UFO wing flying acrossCentral
Europe from East to West as warplanes. This couldhave gone all the
way to triggering a nuclear exchange, andsurely the UFO pilots knew
that overflying this part of Europeat the height of the cold war
was a high risk manoeuvredangerous to world peace. As you will
read, these UFO pilotsalso understood when it was time to jump away
when a wingof US Sabre fighters intercepted them and were then
orderedto challenge and fire. You wont find UFO files like these
beingreleased any time soon from the M.O.D.
Where are the missing 10,000 files?Gordon Creighton wrote in FSR
28.5 (1983) under the heading"White Wash and Blather Department"
The Daily Mail(05/03/82) report on The Earl of Clancarty (Former
FSR EditorBrinsley le Poer Trench) asked a question in the house
ofLords the previous day, "How many reports of UFOs havebeen
received by the MOD during the last 4 years, 1978-1981and what
action has been taken about them?" Lord Hill Norton,a former Chief
of Britain's Defence Staff, proceeded to drawattention to the
extraordinary fact that the whole of theministry's records of UFO
sightings for all the years prior to1962 have been destroyed
because someone had decidedthat they were of no interest!" The
minister Lord Long repliedthat all UFO reports received since 1967
were being preservedat present. Prior to 1967, said Lord Long, the
five yeardestruction rule had been generally applied.
Creighton continues, all this is extremely interesting, for
ithappens that way back in 1956, Mr David Wightman, then
editor of the now defunct UFO research magazine Uranus, inthe
company of Mr John Pitt, a professional journalist who
hadpreviously served in British Military Intelligence, were
granteda two-hour interview with a senior official of the British
AirMinistry for the purpose of discussing the matter of UFOs.
Thisappeared in Uranus Vol.2, No. 6 and Vol.3 No.3, also FSRVol.2,
No.5 (September 1956).
The most important thingthat Messrs Wightman and Pittdiscovered
in their interview at the Air Ministry was that thelatter had, in
early 1956, 10,000 UFO reports on file for theperiod 1947-1956.
This is almost as many as the U.S. Air Forcewere to claim to have
on file (13,134) twelve years later (1968)at the time of the Condon
Report! And we are now asked tobelieve that those 10,000 UFO
reports 'contained nothing ofinterest,' and had all been destroyed
by 1962! Let us say itplainly, here and now. We don't believe a
word of it, and onlyimbeciles would believe it.
No Name No Pack Drill. Russell Kellett."A soldier whose kit on
parade was unsatisfactory would havehis name taken by the NCO on
the orders of the inspectingofficer (see Wilfred Owen's poem
Inspection), and would beput on a charge before his company
commander. The resultingpenalty would, at one time, probably have
included a period ofdrill in full kit ("pack drill"). A good parade
was one duringwhich no one's kit was below standard, so no names
were
taken, so no pack drill would ensue. Hence the
expressionimplying that the fewer names named the better.
Monday 17th August had seen the release of more olddocuments
from the M.O.D.s U.F.O. department which hadmade its way into the
media from news papers to television &radio, not forgetting the
new media of the internet web-sites. Itwas during this period I
received a phone call from a man I call

Flying Saucer Review - Spring 2009 13
From 1953 to 1955 I was working on radar at Bawdsey inSuffolk,
at that time the most advanced in Europe. Mostly I waswith a team
working on American FP53 (Fixed Pulse SearchMark 3). It was long
range radar penetrating 2000 miles intoRussia. Unfortunately
because of the curvature of the Earthand radio waves only travel in
straight lines we could onlyreach Moscow and then only if the
aircraft were above20.000ft.
Our orders were not to chart local domestic flights orcommercial
airlines, only those which might pose a threat toEngland, this was
when the cold war was at its height andRussia was being very
belligerent. It was very interesting tosee all the traffic in and
out of Moscow airport. At times therewere unexplained responses at
the very edge of our range.Always the objects were in pairs,
travelling at high speed. When I enquired about them, I was told
they were nothing butelectrical interference caused by atmospheric
pressure (as if!)and that they were not to be plotted so we ignored
them, butstill kept an eye on them!
We were on 24 hour alert and our crew worked 4hour shifts. One
night in the spring of 1955, we were working midnight till4am when
we detected two aircraft leaving Moscow andheading toward London.
We thought they were the newIlyushin bombers the Russians had.
We passed on the information to the operations room in thenew
complex 200 feet below the cliff top. We were told to seewhat they
would do next. They continued on the same course, thats when we
started to get worried! The C.O. was arousedand agreed it could be
something serious, so he contactedfighter command at Eleven Group
HQ. They again checkedwith us and we confirmed that the planes were
still coming at300mph at 30,000 feet. Fighter command alerted
London wholiaised with Washington. Then they both rang the hot line
toMoscow requesting that they recalled their planes who by thenwere
approaching Poland.
The Russians denied they were theirs. In fact they thought
theywere ours! They had already scrambled a squadron to shootthem
down when the planes turned toward London. By then, they were over
Germany, still on course. We had airfield radaron our bases in
Germany and they also started tracking theplanes but only for a
short while as their range was only about50 miles, just enough for
ground control at the airports.
I cannot vouch for the reaction of the three governments as
allwe got was coming down the grapevine from HQ. When theplanes
crossed the German coastline, we requested a flight offighters to
intercept. At that time the Spitfire had been phasedout and
replaced with Meteors which were faster but still nomatch for the
approaching planes. A request was urgently put
to the Americans and they consented to send a flight of
SuperSabres.
All this took time. They were now crossing our coast so ourlong
range radar was useless so close to home. So we had toresume our
watch over Russia. The FP53 control room wassituated on the cliff
top as the contractors hadnt finishedlaying the cables to enable us
to work underground within themain complex.
Those of us who had free time went down to the ops room inthe
complex to watch on another type of radar: GCI mark 7(Ground
control interception) which was used to practice dog-fights between
the American and British fighters and bombers. This time it was for
real and the Type 7 operators took overfrom our FP53. They diverted
the American planes to wherethe enemy planes were now circling
London until the Sabresown nose radar could make contact.
When that happened, they waited for orders, which were
tochallenge them. If there was no response, they were to openfire.
By then the U.S. pilots were close enough to make visualcontact.
Suddenly we were deafened by all their voicesshouting in amazement.
They are not planes, they are roundflat discs! You can imagine the
reaction in the ops room whenwe heard the radios screaming these
words!
The UFOs ignored the challenge but before the U.S. planescould
open fire the UFOs took off vertically at a speed wecouldnt
calculate as they were too fast for our equipment. Thenearest
calculation we managed was 20,000 mph. That wasthe end of the
matter, or so we thought!
At 4am our shift finished and we signed off and went to bed,too
excited to really sleep, but eventually we did. We wereawakened
early next morning to a terrific hullabaloo all overthe camp. After
all the excitement of the previous night wewere terrified the UFOs
had landed. The camp was sealed offand full of white helmeted armed
US air police, our servicepolice and special branch etc. etc. The
perimeter fence waspatrolled 24/7 by armed U.S. police. No-one was
allowed in orout. The ferry to Felixstowe was held on the far side
of the RiverDeben. We were completely sealed in. Telephones were
all cutoff. We were ordered not to talk about this to anyone not
evenamongst ourselves or try to communicate to the outside
world.
The camp was sealed off for 2 weeks. We had to sign a set
ofspecial documents, oath of allegiance, official secrets and
alsothe U.S. equivalent forms and ordered never to reveal
whathappened. Even telling us we all had been confused andnothing
extraordinary had taken place! If that were true: why allthe panic?
Every document and tape of the event wasconfiscated until there was
not a shred of evidence left aboutthe incident. The official line
was mass hysteria. Trainedpilots, air force personnel, computers,
radio and radar dontget hysterical.
Comment by FSR: In recent years we have repeatedly read
thefollowing statement used by the Ministry of Defence to assurethe
public they are fulfilling their duty to protect British
subjects:
The Ministry of Defence does not attempt to identify
suchaircraft unless it sees evidence to suggest that UK airspace
hasbeen compromised by hostile or unauthorized air activity.
Think about this case, it was 1955 and two
unidentifiedpotentially hostile aircraft were seen taking off on
radar from
The 1955 Ilyushin bomber was in fact a premature failed

Moscow, travelling at high altitude across the main cities
ofcentral Europe before finishing up circling London. Thishappened
at the height of the cold war, the possibility thatnuclear weapons
were on board these two unknowns musthave been apparent to
everybody at the time.
Lets put 1955 in context, FSR 53.1 features Art
Campbellsassessment of a spring 1955 nuclear crisis over
Taiwanbetween America and the combined forces of the USSR and
red China. This may have led to President Eisenhowerschoice
words about nuclear weapons, These things can beused on strictly
military purposes. I see no reason whythey shouldnt be used just
exactly as you would use abullet. Now consider this new case in
that unprecedenteddangerous context. If the flying saucers had
triggeredsufficient panic to scramble a pre-emptive nuclear strike
forcefrom both sides sent to do the unthinkable, then more andmore
fatal decisions could have cascaded from this oneincursion, the
result, a sudden dangerous massing of bomberaircraft picked up on
radar.
An epilogue for this case would be the agreement signed in1971
between the USSR and the USA to put systems in placeto prevent a
nuclear exchange triggered by UFOs amongother causes, Where this
case leaves assurances that we dontneed to identify such aircraft
unless there is evidence UKairspace has been compromised by hostile
or unauthorized airactivity, we leave to our readers to decide. We
are now in thestealth age, the divergence between a radar invisible
militaryaircraft and a UFO is minimal, a chance incursion
couldconceivably trigger a new nuclear exchange when the world
isnext faced by the inevitable crisis between the super-powers.
An additional case from 1957. A complete write up of this case
by British researcher David Cayton
can be found on Colin Andrewss web site:
http://www.colinandrews.net/UFO-MiltonTorres.html
A much publicised case recovered from 2008 documentsfeatured in
enquires with the M.O.D. during the first release ofBritish UFO
documents is the Milton Torres UFO intercept ofMay 20th 1957.
U.S. fighter pilot Milton Torres accidentally bumped into
BritishUFO researcher Harry Harris in 1988 and was responsible
forthe release of the story. Again the case involved a US
Sabreaircraft being guided over the same radar installations at
32,000 ft altitude.
This 1957 case involved radar contact without
visualidentification of a very large airliner sized unknown craft.
Thiswas tracked as a near stationary object over East Anglia byboth
ground based and airborne radar. The pilot, Torres, wasordered to
lock on and launch his entire rocket salvo. At thatpoint, before he
could act, the object moved rapidly out ofrange speeding away at
least Mach 10 off the Suffolk coastand out to sea. British
researcher David Cayton has calculatedthat the UFO must have
instantly accelerated by up to7,500mph. Torres was debriefed by an
officer from off thebase, and ordered that the whole event was to
remainclassified as a National Security matter.
As a footnote, one could be suspicious that this is a grown
upcase deliberately left in the British UFO files. This one
seriouscase exists in isolation because Torres had
unexpectedlyshared his UFO interception story with a UFO
researcher. Thereal story of UFO action over British skies and
intruders on oursoil is a desperate tale of a steep learning curve
that took placewith inevitable losses. The UFO story can only be
our own if wethe ordinary citizens abandoned by government gather
ourown independent data by our own institution.

Another radar case, a gigantic UFO passed
over Britain at midnight during a cold war
exercise, operation Bulldog in August 1949.FSR Vol. 37, No.4
featured a complete report by anotherradar operator, described an
excercise "Operation Bulldog"a 15 day excercise where U.S. combat
planes based inEurope and aircraft taken from Benelux countries
were tosimulate an attack on Britain. Flying in from airfields
inHolland, France, Belgium and Germany, they were to"attack" London
and other targets in Southern England
while the defenders of Britain were to be RAF FighterCommand.
Britain's radar defence chain ran from Land'sEnd along the South
Coast and then up the East Coast tothe North of Scotland from
sea-level up to 100,000 ft.
In 1948, the worsening international situation led the
AirMinistry to decide upon urgent action to improve the
UnitedKingdom's radar defences. Following a period of intensive

technical and operational study, in 1949 the Air Ministrydecided
to construct a new chain of radar stations in the UK.This was a far
reaching plan designed to make use of the latesttechnology
available, and to secure maximum freedom fromenemy attack by
relocating most of large number of mobileradar convoys for tactical
use. The rebuilding of the radardefences of the UK was given the
codeword ROTOR, and thesupply of the mobile radar convoys was
covered by thecodeword `VAST'. The ROTOR programme called for
nearly30 GCI stations, over half of which were built in
R3(underground) and R6 (above ground) two level bunkers, together
with CEW and CHEL stations located in single storeybunkers
designated the R1 and R2 respectively. Plotinformation from the new
radar chain was voice-told to five R4three level underground Sector
Operations Centres.
The witness wasas a RadarOperator AC1,stationed at RAFSandwich,
inKent. All theofficers and staffare named in thearticle in
FSR37.4. This was aGround ControlI n t e r c e p t i o n
Station used for verbally directing fighter aircraft onto
targetsby means of radar guidance and radio transmission. It had
2radars a Type 14 and a Type 7 each revolving 4 sweeps perminute
and out of synch with each other, in this way, it waspossible to
secure 8 plots per minute on flying targets.
Halfway through the August exercise the witness and hiscolleague
were on duty at midnight. An object was spottedtravelling parallel
to the South coast traveling from West toEast. When it arrived at a
position off the "heel" of Kent, itabruptly turned northwards, it
approached the estuary of theRiver Thames, it was pased on to
Martlesham Radar Stationnear Ipswhich Suffolk. Shotly after the
Sandwhich station lostcontact with the object. It was the Radar
Operators job toassess the speed of the object from the times and
distancesplotted while spped could be read from the type 14
Radardesigned to read the altitude of aircraft within its range.
Thisobject was travelling at an airspeed of nearly 3000 miles
perhour at 50,000 feet (The air speed record at the time was606.36
m.p.h. the largest aircraft at the time was the USAFSuperfortress
which travelled at 360 m.p.h.). Experiencedradar personnel present
at the station compared it's size to theecho of a large passenger
ship, in the range of 15,00 or 20,000tons. Word filtered down from
Bampton Radar Station inYorkshire, the object suddenly increased
speed and headingstraight upwards vanished off screen at about
10,000 ft.
The epilogue of this case was the duty watch book vanishedand
was replaced, the witness and his colleague were read theOfficial
Secrets Act and ordered not to mention the nightoccurences to
anyone.
Comment by FSR: The last paragraphs of the article
mentionsOperation Bulldog was devised to to raise Britain's
defences tothe highest level of efficiency to prevent possible
nuclearattack. This object may have conveyed a message to remindthe
participants that they were being observed. FSR 51.1described an
account in a letter to FSR in 1994 of a Germanwitness, a chemist,
who saw a massive flaming Adamski cigarover Hamburg on the first
night of the raid in July 1943. In hiswords "That big fellow was
having a grandstand view of all thatwas going on below." These huge
flying objects when theycome into the open do so for a statement,
the strongestmessage may be to remind us that we do not observe
thisworld in isolation, they too have ops rooms and
monitoringstations, moving over our skies.
UFO Engineering according to Hill
http://www.ufodna.com/articles/articles/hill.html
FSR Commentary: A lot of big questions on flying saucers
featured in this issue were answered by Paul R Hill, one of the
originalparticipants of the flying saucer age a man who had to hold
his tongue for forty years because of his sensitive defence
researchcareer. This man would have demolished Donald Menzels
illusion of competent testimony for the Condon Committee.
The question of lethal G Force acting on UFO occupants, the 90
degree turns and the active tilting mechanism that steers thesaucer
and prevents drag and negative lift. Even the gamma and X-ray
emanations that follow Alan Wattss ideas of the GammaGun and
electron-positron pair production in FSR 53.3. The source of the
UFO hum, the super cooling of air around the saucer, the wobbling
motion to transition to a hover, the falling-leaf motion used to
descend, the terrain-following over obstacles; its allhere. Paul R
Hill released the information in a book published in 1995 at the
end of his life. This is accessible UFO physics for usall to
understand.
Unconventional Flying Objects, by Paul Hill, Hampton Roads Publ.
Co., Charlottesville, VA, 1995
(ISBN 1-57174-027-9)
Paul R Hill was a leading engineer andmanager at the NACA (later
NASA) Langley,Virginia research centre. He was a leader
indeveloping solid rockets and wind tunnels totest high-speed
aircraft, missiles andspacecraft. He needed no study of hundreds
ofcases, photographs, or other evidence to
convince him of the reality of UFO's. He had seen them with
hisown eyes. This led him to produce a complete
engineeringexplanation of the UFO phenomenon using known physics.
Hefound there was no need for recourse to other
dimensions,faster-than-light-travel, or mystical explanations.
Hill witnessed a quartet of UFO's manoeuvre in the sky in1952.
His trained eye, having observed dozens of rocketPaul R Hill
-
16 Flying Saucer Review - Spring 2009
launches and aircraft flight tests, could judge the velocity
andG-capabilities of the objects. He had been involved in
virtuallyevery highly-classified high-performance rocket and
aircraftprogram in the United States. He knew immediately what
hesaw could not be of earthly construction
However his supervisor, Bob Gilruth (Director of NASAHouston
during the Apollo moon landing project), enforced anofficial policy
that UFO's did not exist. NACA/NASA resourcescould not be spent
investigating them. The best that Hill couldmanage was to be NASA's
informal clearing house for UFOsightings. He also managed to
instigate NASA projects onhovering platforms that allowed him to
study the performanceof UFO-type systems. Hill saw another UFO,
this time a classic'mother ship', in 1962. He used his
comprehensive knowledgeof physics and aerodynamics to analyze the
flying saucer froman engineer's point of view. Four years after his
retirement fromNASA in 1970, he began a meticulous final
engineeringanalysis of the UFO. This was only published
post-humously in1995.
The scientist analyzed every physically possible method ofUFO
propulsion and compared them with the observedperformance. This
included the behaviour in flight andhovering, the glow seen around
and below the objects, andthe reported physical effects. He went
through the entireelectromagnetic spectrum and the all known
families ofsubatomic particles. Among the non-starters were
impulsepower, magnetic fields, electrical fields, neutrino and
photonpropulsion. In the end he was able to rule out all
possibilitiesexcept one.
The only possibility fitting observations was a form of
gravityfield. This UFO field could be focused to provide a
repellingforce counter to the earth's gravity. A field with the
samecharacteristics would neatly move molecules of air out of
theway well before they encountered a moving UFO. It wouldprotect
any occupants from G forces, but would even leavea residual
fraction of the G-forces to give them a 'feel' fortheir craft's
manoeuvres. Hill postulated a subatomic particle, the uon, as the
quantum expression of the UFO field. Thismight or might not be the
poorly understood graviton and anti-graviton postulated by
physicists.
Hill compared his analysis to that of the atom envisioned
byErnest Rutherford in 1911. Rutherford, using Newtonianphysics,
was able to describe an atom consisting of protonsand neutrons in a
nucleus with electrons spinning in orbitsaround it. Later 20th
Century Einsteinian and quantummechanics would show Rutherford's
model to be simplisticand the atomic reality to be much more
complex. But the pointwas that Rutherford could make a correct
first approximationof the atomic structure using the physics he
knew. Similarly,Hill believed he could mathematically describe the
UFO fieldwithout necessarily knowing the future physics that
wouldprovide the complete understanding (and allow earthlings
toconstruct such a device). Hill's analysis completely describedthe
commonly-described characteristics of the UFO:
UFO's can only be propelled by an engine that produces astatic
field that repels all mass. This field follows theinverse-square
law of gravity or photon fields, and isfocused to provide
propulsive force. Hill showed thatusing this field the amount of
energy to move a UFO to anyparticular position above a
gravitational source (such asthe earth) is only equal to energy
required to lift it to thatheight - a very small value.
This field has an electromagnetic component orexpression in the
range between x-rays and gamma rays. This explains the radiation
effects described in manycases on those who get to close to
hovering UFO's, whileat the same time is consistent with the lack
of residual
radioactivity at UFO landing sites. It is also the preciseenergy
wavelength that creates the glow which surroundsUFO's when in
operation. This is a result of excitation of airmolecules, and
shifts from dull red through orange, yellow, and then to intense
welding-arc white as theelectromagnetic component shifts from soft
x-rays up tothe lower portion of the gamma-ray spectrum. The
plasmagenerated by this wavelength of radiation is coldconsistent
with the lack of intense heat reported in UFOclose encounters.
The nature of the UFO field means that saucers have tomanoeuvre
in the manner described in the sightings butquite different from
that of lifting, thrust-driven aircraft.Saucers tilt in the
direction of the force to be applied toaccelerate or decelerate. In
cruise, the slight saucer tilt isopposite that of a wing producing
lift. This slight tilt isnecessary to overcome both air drag and
the negative lifta saucer creates:
Hill experimented with circular flying platforms for NASA inthe
1960's. These used air to provide hovering thrust ratherthan a UFO
field. However they proved the optimum controlmanoeuvres near the
earth were the same as reported forUFO's - the wobbling motion to
transition to a hover, thefalling-leaf motion to descend, the
terrain-following overobstacles, and the direct vertical ascent to
depart.
Suddenly UFO reports that seemed odd or indicated thatUFO's had
control difficulties were completely explicable. TheOffice of Naval
Research developed an operational version.Hill showed that the
UFO's he and others had observed andcould easily accelerate or
decelerate at over 100 G's. Thismeant that reported 'instantaneous'
changes of directionand 90 degree turns by flying saucers were no
such thing. It was quite possible for a UFO to brake to a complete
stop, and then accelerate again to the same speed in anydirection,
in under one second. This would appear as an'instantaneous'
manoeuvre to the human eye but in factviolate no laws of physics or
inertia.
Hill studied in detail the necessary arrangement of
fieldgenerators within spherical and elliptical objects necessary
toproduce the necessary propulsive force, as well as make
theG-forces imperceptible to the occupants and exert thenecessary
force to move air away from the moving saucer.Aerodynamics was
Hill's specialty and he provided themathematics that showed why
saucers produce no sonicboom, and can move within the atmosphere at
thousands ofmiles per hour with little friction and no perceptible
noise. Infact, he showed the induced pressure drop of the UFO
fieldwould cool rather than heat the saucer while moving withinthe
atmosphere at tremendous speed. This explained whysaucers, unlike
the space shuttle or high-speed aircraft, were not red hot when
landing after high speed runs.
Investigating long-range manoeuvres using the UFO field neara
planet, Hill determined the optimum trajectory was high-speed and
followed a ballistic path. This was consistent withreports that
UFO's would depart near-vertically at tremendousacceleration and
speed at the end of a sighting.

After noticing over the years how most photographs of disc-type
UFO's are captured on film looking angled or tilted(think back to
the Rex Heflin pictures, George Adamski'sand now, even Bob
Schindler's). Well, today, for the very firsttime something clicked
in my mind and I dug out my oldangle square and dusted it off, and
began measuring theexact degree of tilt about this latest Racton
object whichinvestigator Bob Schindler both witnessed and
recordedwith his camera.
I make it a tilt of 105 degrees.Next, I began checking thedegree
of tilt on other unidentifieds in UFO pictures and wasastonished by
their similarity. Now isn't that intriguing?Especially around the
90 degree angle. Bob's most recentobject is only 15 degrees off
that figure of "90 degreesrotation" There are many other images he
and fellow UFOhunters have photographed which are even closer to
thesaid 90 degrees, with many an exact match.
What could it be? Are they cutting the Earths energy field ata
specific angle? Are they attempting to create a 90
degreeperpendicular spin away from the Earths field to leavenormal
space and enter some other state?
Commentary by FSR: How many times does a simpleobservation lead
to asking a perilously big question on ourunderstanding of UFOs
behaviour? Ken is right: there mustbe a correlation for this
peculiar tilting secret of flying discs,in addition: why do most
cylinder UFOs travel at a 45 degreetilt? H.E. Puthoff of the
Institute for Advanced Studies atAustin put forward the following
ideas on this matter usingthe work of Paul R Hill in a paper called
A Synopsis ofUnconventional Flying Objects. (JSE Review).
Flying Saucer Review - Spring 2009 17
The UFO static field would be cyclic in nature, and thiswould
produce a mathematically definable movement ofair molecules when a
UFO was hovering. Hill determinedthat this cyclic air movement, and
its vibration effects onobjects near a UFO, was the source of the
sound heardwhen UFO's were hovering The UFO 'hum' was not thesounds
of machinery within the UFO but rather the effectof the field on
the environment.
Finally, Hill studied interstellar travel by UFO's. This
wouldinvolve a close approach to a massive nearby
gravitationalobject (e.g. the sun of a solar system) to obtain
maximumutilization of the UFO gravity drive. He calculated
thatassuming an approach within 23 million miles of the Earth'ssun,
and using an initial acceleration of 1000 G's, a UFO couldreach 70%
of the velocity of light by the time it reached theorbit of Pluto.
By that time the gravity-repulsive UFO drivewould be nearly
ineffective. Further acceleration to near-lightspeed using impulse
power would however be relatively easywith advanced technology.
Thanks to relativistic effects, theoccupants would experience only
a few months of travel timewhen travelling between solar
systems.
Of course, decades of time would have passed on earth andtheir
home planet during the travel period. Hill imagined that
the large cylindrical 'mother ships' might be the actual home
ofthe extraterrestrials. A little reflection shows that such a
shipwould be the focus of their lives and the location of
theirfriends and families, if such existed in their culture. So it
wouldbe irrelevant in their way of existence if everyone they
hadknown back at the home planet, if they had one, had aged anddied
while they were away. A human equivalent would bewhen earthlings
move permanently in space rather than timefrom one state or country
to another. Those left behind are aclosed chapter of a life once
known. For star-hoppingextraterrestrials, 'you can never go back'
would have a tougherphysical reality than for humans.
Hill produced a complete explanation of the UFOphenomenon using
known physics. There was no need forrecourse to other dimensions,
faster-than-light-travel, ormystical explanations. The diversity of
UFO types andoccupants reported convinced the engineer that
theyrepresented visitors from a large number of worlds. Heassessed
their behaviour as being that of scientists on studymissions,
taking environmental samples, even abductinghumans and animals for
tests, but avoiding contact andinteraction with humans.

flight is a ubiquitous pattern in which they tilt to perform
allmanoeuvres. Specifically, they sit level to hover, tilt forward
tomove forward, tilt backward to stop, bank to turn, and descendby
"falling-leaf" or "silver- dollar-wobble" motions. Detailedanalysis
by Hill shows that such motion is inconsistent withaerodynamic
requirements, but totally consistent with someform of repulsive
force-field propulsion. Not satisfied withpaper analyses alone,
Hill arranged to have various forms ofjet-supported and
rotor-supported circular flying platformsbuilt and tested. Hill
himself acted as test pilot in early,originally-classified,
versions, and found the above motionsthe most economical for
control purposes.
In an effort to examine the force-field propulsion hypothesisyet
further, Hill analyzed a number of cases involving
near-fieldinteractions with an apparent craft in which some form of
forcewas in evidence. These include examples in which a person
orvehicle was affected, tree branches were parted or broken, roof
tiles were dislodged, objects were deflected, and groundor water
were disturbed. Under close analysis the subtleties ofthese
interactions combine to point unequivocally to arepulsive force
field surrounding the craft, while discriminatingagainst propulsion
mechanisms involving jet action, pureelectric or magnetic effects,
or the emission of energeticparticles or radiation (although the
latter may accompany thepropulsive mechanism as a secondary
effect). Further detailedinvestigation indicates that the
particular form of force fieldpropulsion that satisfies
observational constraints is what Hilllabels a directed
acceleration field; that is, a field that is, ingeneral,
gravitational-like in nature, and, in particular,
gravity-cancelling. Such a field acts on all masses in its sphere
ofinfluence as does a gravitational field. Corollary to
thisconclusion is that observed accelerations ~100 g's relative
tothe environment could be sustained without on-board
high-gforces.
One of the consequences of the above identification of
fieldpropulsion type by Hill is his conclusion, supported by
detailed
calculation, computer simulation and wind-tunnel studies,
thatsupersonic flight through the atmosphere without sonicbooms is
easily engineered. Manipulation of the acceleration-type force
field would, even at supersonic speeds, result in
aconstant-pressure, compression-free zone without shockwavein which
the vehicle is surrounded by a subsonic flow-patternof streamlines,
and subsonic velocity ratios. An additionalbenefit of such field
control is that drops of moisture, rain, dust, insects, or other
low-velocity ob
